  1. I'm still for top 2 teams in each district making the playoff.

Purpose of the playoffs is to identify state champions from among the top regular-season teams.

Including teams with losing regular season records in the playoffs does not contribute to that objective, and diminishes the significance of regular-season success.

  2. I believe... if you think what those boys were doing on the bench was 'boys being boys' or 'not that bad' then like Krumpelbeck, you lack class. Do you believe that Ruthsatz would allow his boys on the bench to act in that manner? Absolutely not. He has control of his team and he has class. You can't control what goes on in the stands, but you can, and better, control what you kids are doing and saying on the bench. CC played a very good game and it was overshadowed, based on this fodder, by actions of a few kids on the bench.

Beechwood fan here. Watched game last night from near CovCath bench and behind home plate. Four points:

    1. CovCath bench was noisy and spirited at key points of the game (i.e., 3rd, 6th and 7th). Beechwood bench only sporadically into it. What was said was probably not of consequence. None of Beechwood players or fans in stands seemed bothered. It was just a high-pressure game involving two tough rivals.

    2. Stringer could not make good pitches when he needed to, although defense didn't help. That was difference in the game.

    3. Coach Krump was given great leeway by umps with extended visits to mound and conferences with umps. Beechwood coaches largely stayed in dugout. Probably helped disrupt flow of game.

    4. Neither team played particularly well. CovCath runner who tried to score on passed ball in 6th could have cost his team the game if Beechwood had scored in 7th. Dropped foul fly balls were critical.
