  1. As I have said before on this thread Chris Mason is not interested in the job. With all his responsibilities as Assistant Principal he would not have the time. I have talked to him personally. He told me that 7 rings is enough.

  2. I am a big supporter of Bullitt East and I can assure you that Chris Mason is not a candidate or is he pursuing the job at BE if it comes open. I have talked to him personally. He told me that 7 rings is enough.

  3. Some pretty good scrimmages. The worst part was the officials. If they call it anything close to what they did on Saturday, then it's going to be some long games and a lot of free throws. Here is the breakdown:

North Bullitt v. Eastern- 43-17 at the half. Eastern couldn't hit free throws. They hit 5 for 30 in the half. Eastern won the 2nd half 37-35. A couple of kids for North Is Downey and Deel. Downey can shoot the lights out and is a Jr. The Deel kid is a Soph and is good and is a pretty good athlete. Coach Marion will do ok at NB. Easterns Porter and Collins are their best players. Not a bad game, just a lot of fouls.

Assumption v Ryle- Ryle wins 61-56. Ryle has a lot of juniors led by Jones and M. Schwartz. They also play a 7th and 8th grader. Should contend for district and make a run at regional. Assumption played Kiesler at the high post for some of the game. Not real sure why. She shot 3 3"s and a few 15-18 footers. She was dominant on the glass as expected. Needs to work in the low post more. Guard play is suspect at best. Not sure if the can contend for region. They can if they keep Kiesler in the low post and run the offense through her, Guards will have to get better.

SHA v Clay County- SHA won 65-64. SHA has some really good young talent led by the Berger kid. She shoots well from 3 and can go off the dribble. Not sure if the can contend with Manual, But they will get better as the year goes along. Clay co. has Cotton and Woods. Cotton is very talented but strays from running the offense in order to freelance. Woods is a monster on the block, but gets winded easily. Should contend for region.

Manual v OCH- Manual won 70-64. Manual was dominant at times, but would take their foot off the gas and let OC back in the game. The younger Curry is going to be a player. She is only a soph, but can play. If the McCune kid would just play hard, Manual would be a lot better. She takes to many plays off and sometimes you don't even know that she is in the game. She has a load of talent. Manuals supporting players are really good. They should contend for state, if McCune comes to plays. OCH 's Berry is really good. They should contend for region championship.

BE v Allen Co.- BE wins 87-63. BE looked pretty good at times. Lack of height will hinder them at times. Duvall looked pretty good. I believe she had like 30 points. Peak didn't have her best game. Williams needs to be more aggressive down low. Can contend for region, but needs to rebound as a team, due to their lack of a big post player. The Rich from Allen Co. girl played ok. I was not overly impressed. Show signs of domination and then she wouldn't do anything. She needs to be more assertive for them to win the region.

Mercy v Mercer- Mercer won 89-83. Was a really good game. Both teams got the ball out and ran with it. Both coaches got technicals and had to remain seated for the whole second half. Mercy is long and have some speed.#35 and #42 are probly their best players and are really tough to guard. They can both go inside or outside. Both run the floor really well. They can compete with Butler and BE in the 6th. Mercer is going to be really good. They have the best freshman in the state in the Robins kid. She can play and is going to be really good. They can go 10 deep. Their coach ran a platoon system. If the 5 in the game wasn't getting it done he would sub in the next 5. He did it the whole game. They play a lot of freshman and soph's. By the end of the year they are going to be really good.

  4. Some really good scrimmages lined up that day. Scores don't matter to me much at scrimmages because coaches are focusing on what certain players can or can't do and areas where they need to improve.

Interested in the Manual game in regards to McCune's game/attitude and overall team chemistry. Last year was a disaster.

Does Assumption have anyone to help support Kiesler? Guard play is suspect, so would be interested in if there are any positive surprises there.

Who's going to score for Sacred Heart with the graduation of Ruffin and Merriweather? Supposed to be some quality freshman getting plenty of playing time.

Mercy always bring it with effort. Have they improved enough to give Butler and BE a run for their money? I thought Anderson would develop into becoming a major factor in their success.

I will post on this thread how everything goes.

  5. Was Bullitt East's starting QB not playing against JH? I thought he was.

No. He started last year and some early this year. Around the 4th week another kid that throws a lot better took over. The other kid was moved to WR and played some RB. The new starter got hurt against BC. Then they had to go back to the former QB. I'm not saying they would have won, but JH wouldn't have able to stack the box and the play book could have expanded more to keep JH honest. Good luck tomorrow.

  6. I was at the BE game Friday as I am for almost all of them as I have a son that plays on the team. the East team has been riddled with injuries this season, Missing your starting QB, RB, and a few lineman made it very difficult to win against a better than advertised JH team. Do I think East would have won Friday with those players maybe, maybe not. I do think the game would have been better for sure. It appeared the East team wasnt ready to play Friday as the first half was all JH, East couldnt do anything on either side of the ball. no matter who you play its difficult to win when you have 5 turnovers and 3 of those inside your own 30. JH pretty much did whatever it wanted in the first half on offense and East did nothing but give the ball away on offense. After the half East made some decent adjustments on defense and kept JH off the board in the second half. Im sure some of that was with the lead JH was a little more conservative. the sad part was there was no adjustment after halftime on offense for East. it was the same tired old offense scheme that works fine against the weaker teams but once you face an athletic team it dont work as well. The one thing the veer will not allow is for to make any sort of comeback. Its not a quick striking offense and when everyone in the park knows what your doing its easy to stop. Example. there were many times East would come out with 3 wide, JH counters with 1CB between the group of WR and kept the safety in the box, It looked like they would just spread the OLB out a little to cover the short slant. East never not once tried to throw out of this formation which is mind boggling to me. In the end JH was the better team Friday and deserved the win. the Defense was very strong and tackled very well. If East wants to advance in the playoffs they have to find a way to move the ball when the Veer is not working. you cant just keep pounding your head against the wall hoping it will eventually break. The east program has a lot of young talent at the skill positions and they will be good for next few years. the JV and freshman team just finished off another great season. the JV team has only lost 2 games in past 3 years running a little different offense but for some reason they dont allow that same offense to be ran on Friday nights. Congrats to JH for a well deserved victory they could be a sleeper for the next couple weeks....
If you paid attention o you would know that the same person calls plays for both JV and Varsity. Losing the QB hurt in the fact it took away things he was able to do, that the other QB's couldn't. That changes a lot. Bottom line is JH has gotten a lot better since the 1st of the year and is going to be a very tough opponent for anybody. Also it's easy to sit on the sidelines and second guess everything a coach does.
  7. Sorry Chargernation disagree Mercy is ahead of Bullitt East. BE biggest challenge is that they will have little to no bench at all. I believe both Butler and Mercy beat East this summer. Also Anderson for Mercy is only a Soph. no Jr.
We shall see. I've watched theses girls play together for the last 5 years together. They will be able to go 8 deep. That's the great thing about it, everybody has their own opinion.
