  1. Compared to officiating in other states we have nothing to complain about. Just came back from out of state and it was the worst officiating I have ever seen. When players can taunt and shove people out of bounds with no calls made makes me want to shake the officiating crews around here hands. Had one official literally tell me to google that a player can tap the ball to himself all the way down court without it being a walk. My response then why dribble at all. At one point with 3 minutes left in the third quarter we had 10 fouls to one for the other team. The officials here may be bad to most people but you need to experience it in other states. My hats off to anyone who officiates any sport. It is easy to sit on the sidelines and complain.

  2. No the 38th is a seeded district. As far as I can tell there are only 4 that are draw Districts.

    39th Bracken (12-18), Mason(15-10), Augusta(1-12), & St. Pat (2-11)

    44th Berea (1-17), Model (13-22), Madison Southern (17-16), Madison Central (29-7)

    54th Buckhorn (12-17), Perry County Central (29-11), Leslie (12-15), Hazard (29-11)

    64th Ashland Blazer (19-15), Fairview (6-24), Boyd (19-18),

  3. Ok so you go to a draw. Now you force a smaller school to have to play these teams twice a year instead of not having to play them at all regular season. So you want them to take 5 or 6 beatings a year against the district and have nothing to show for it instead of having a chance to to do something the school might have never done. I say all districts should be a draw and play whoever you want in the regular season or just say if you don't have a winning season then you don't go to any playoffs. Problem solved only teams with winning records in their district make playoff. Class all sports. That is something the KHSAA can control.

  4. Fact is that the smaller schools will always be taking there beatings. Occasionally they may win or even keep it close but very rarely. Unless all sports go to the class system that is the way it is. So by having the Districts be a draw smaller schools can limit the number of beatings they take. They can play other small schools all year long instead of being forced to play larger schools twice in the regular season and once more in the District. Class system takes care of this. Also what would take care of this is realignment. Using the 37th (Harrison, NIcholas, Pendleton & Robertson) as an example. Harrison has probably won the last 20 Districts championships in a row. How much more fair would it be to have 4 small schools in a district and give them a chance at winning the District and going to the Region instead of always being someones stepping stool for another title. All sports need to be realigned by classes. Smaller schools might have to travel farther but I would be willing to bet they already are to play someone of comparible talent.

  5. Nothing wrong with the way Campbell handled this game. As far as Augusta props to them for making the region. Let me state that the district they are in is a draw district for this reason. To give teams a chance to do something they would otherwise have no shot at. Athletic directors for Augusta and St Pat have there kids best interest at heart when voting for a draw instead of seeding. Tie breaker for seeded districts is usually run differential so that promotes running the score up. I see nothing mentioned of the other districts that are draw. Check and you will see that the district with Madison Central and Southern is draw as well.

  6. What actually happened was poor officials. In the first Bourbon only scored 2 runs not 3. Bases loaded ground ball to short they called runner out at second but never make him leave the bag. Kid eventually crosses plate. Official book had him out at second but officials removed the third run which was correct but did not let anyone else know. So game was actually tied at 5 and Bourbon scored 1 in the 8th. So final score was 6-5.

  7. Then why do the number of students to choose from only matter in football. Basically what you are saying is unless you have a chance of winning you can drop that sport. Same thing should apply across the board for all sports. What chance does a 1A school have against a 5A or 6A school in any sport. They don't so they play schools there own size thru the season so why even have them play in the post season.

  8. According to the rule, you have to do "something".....you have to make some sort of attempt to avoid being hit by the pitch. Now for most, just a twitch is enough. But I would think if the batter is actually able to catch the ball, I would think that's not really trying to avoid being hit.

The rule does state the batter must make an attempt to get out of the way. But there is a scenario where you can get hit and it be a strike. If you are attempting to swing at the ball and it hits you then it is called a strike. This happens a lot when people get hit on the hands with them moving forward through the zone. It is a hit by pitch when trying to turn away from or making an effort to get out of the way.

  9. Kincaid is a gamer....He's scrappy and has a great approach to the game. Glad to hear that he's making his mark on the SK Varsity team. Good kid......

I noticed that Bourbon has been playing in Northern Ky in a fall League. I believe that the second baseman that is starting for them is a Freshman but I don't know his name. Seen him make some spectacular plays and hit the ball very well for a Freshman. He is batting in the top of the lineup for them. Does anyone know about the players in this fall league. I have seen them playing at the Freedom's field.
