For me, I think it was Collins beating Highlands, 37-34, in 2013. After Highlands had routed them the previous year, Collins just kept fighting and scoring throughout the game. Next to last play of the game, the Collins quarterback has his helmet knocked off and has to leave the game. Backup quarterback proceeds to throw a touchdown pass to win it and secure the first state championship in school history.
Great game!
I agree. I was up in the club seats at WKU and saw this. I remember there was a timeout before the TD pass and the starting QB tried to enter the game but the officials noticed it after Mueller and crew pointed it out. I then looked to the Collins bench and noticed the backup QB nod his head in almost acknowledgement that he had it all under control. The ensuing play, TD. Great game.

I talked to a good friend of mine who has a child that plays for Paintsville. Told me that they were watching film and practicing for the rematch with Hazard. Just goes to show you can't overlook anyone this time of year.

Walter Brugh of Paintsville. Had many great football teams, but finished 0-2 in the finals. Was the state's all time leader in victories before retiring in the early 90's.

Wow! Very unfortunate situation.

Not sure Ashland can keep up with the Patriots in this on. Our secondary will be tested by GW's qb, who already has D1 offers. I did see where he threw 3 pics last week. Hopefully Caines, Carley and Hester can disrupt timing patterns and come up with some pics of their own. I just hope what's going on at the school with the football team will not be a hinderance in tonights game.
Do tell...

Greenup had a very impressive freshman QB last season. In what little I saw him play, he was very long in stature, which enabled him to roll out of the pocket, with a good arm. Could have something there, the biggest question will be is if he has time when the hogs up front are added to the equation. Regardless, Coach Grizzle has picked up where the previous coach left off.
-
Why would it be a question of him coming back. He's just a Junior to be. Is he moving?
JJ Jude graduated from JC in 2012. Joe Jackson is returning and will be a junior.
-
I think he meant Joe Jackson.

KY defense has been dominant, Central's LB and a big kid from Johnson Central tearing them up
That would be DE Josh Ervin, kid can flat play. Had 47 tackles for loss and 23 sacks on their championship team. I think he had 3 sacks in the finals.

Someone I haven't seen on the list from Region 15, Shawn Hall.

Spoke to a family member who is on staff at JC.

Henry Clay replaces Lexington Catholic after LC decides not to renew. Still in search for a week 4 team for a home/home after Harlan Co doesn't renew.

Go HERD! In all seriousness, I believe with WKU now in a conference that doesn't have a neutral site for their championship it's time to explore other options. With a win, there will be another alternate schedule for championship weekend. What that may be will be determined by CUSA and media. If the championship is at 11am or noon like last season, I could see the same format as last year. Anything later in the day, don't see how they could play any HS game on Saturday.

You're going to hurt yourself on that fence.
They made it to the finals last year, they have pretty much killed everyone this year. Do you think they are the favorite? They sure seem to be to most of us.
I've got family that lives in JC and one is a coach for them. Just going by what he said tonight afterwards, taking it one game at a time. As a former coach myself, I tend to agree with that statement. I will say this though, JC is at least 2 or 3 scores better this season compared to last. Most importantly, they are all healthy unlike last season when the QB/FS was playing on a torn PCL and couldn't move and both starting RBs were banged up.
-
Too early to speculate. I was at the game tonight and it was over before I finished my first cup of coffee. Running clock about one minute in to the second quarter. Congratulations to JC on a very convincing win, but they still need to win one more to even make BG.

Just got home, heck of a ball game. JC had opportunity after opportunity, but Belfry held strong and kept them out of the endzone. I believe I heard on the radio that JC actually outgained Belfry roughly 415-150 tonight in yardage. However, the three time defending champions found a way to win. A fumble recovery for a TD and then the opening KO in the 2nd half for a TD turned out to be the determining factor for the Pirates. Congratulations to both teams on a great game and, as others have stated it, more importantly injury free from the contest. Best of luck to both Belfry and JC in the playoffs, both VERY good teams.

When you get to the semi's those seedings don't mean anything, regardless. All teams remaining are Region Champions, so the best team from that respective area would host depending on the even or odd year in the rotation.
-
Running clock by the half. Greenup's starting offense scores late in the 4th against the JC freshman defense. Congrats to JC and good luck to GC next week against Ashland.

Went and looked at the JC schedule, and from the looks of it they have played a tough one. Several teams they own wins over Campbell Co., West Jessamine, CAL, PRP, Tates Creek, Butler, N. Laurel. However, they also were defeated by Greenup Co. 5-3, Scott Co. 1-0 in 8inn and Ryle 3-2 in 8inn. Of their 9 losses, 6 were by 1 run and 6 were in extra innings.

In the last game of the opening round in the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament, the Camels of Campbell Co. (26-10) will take on Region 3 Champion Ohio Co (23-14). Thoughts? Predictions?
-
Region 11 Champion, Scott Co (27-15), will battle Region 2 Champion, Caldwell Co (31-5), in the opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament. This game will be @ 6:00p.m. on Friday. Thoughts? Predictions?
-
Sitting at 30-7, Region 8 Champion Oldham Co will take on the Region 6 Champion Bullitt East (26-10) in the second game of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament on Friday starting @ 1:30. These two teams have played once already this season, with the Chargers taking a 10-6 victory. Thoughts? Predictions?

Hazard (29-11), the champions of Region 14, will open day two in the opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament against Region 13 Champion North Laurel (29-10) @ 11:00a.m. on Friday. Thoughts? Predictions?
