T-shirt? That reminds me.. I saw a girl wearing a T-Shirt tonight with a soccer ball on it. It said "Newport Central Catholic 2013 All-A State Champions" Seriously?
Go Highlands.
-
What would the ranking be of the 8 teams remaining in the 9th?
1. ND
2. Conner
3. Boone
4. Dixie
5. Highlands
6. St. Henry
7. NC
8. HC
Is the 9th region really only a 3 horse race before the draw?Yes, without a doubt
-
Well it would be fun for us!
It's only fun for the winning team... so was that a bold prediction?
-
Wouldn't it be fun to have a rematch in the regional finals!
No it would not says Boone, Conner, and ND.
-
Why not make HM the next 9 - #20-#28 - and leave it at that. When everyone gets a trophy, no one does.
-
So every player nominated by their coaches automatically made HM, and the voting the coaches did was for POY, 1st team, and 2nd team. And coaches that did not submit any players for their school missed an opportunity.
-
Is it mandatory that at least 1 player from every school make it onto 1 team?
-
Agreed. I've been very pleased with the All "A" in Frankfort. Perfect size venue for that tournament, along with the Girls Sweet 16.
Wait...you mean there's 2 tourneys in Kentucky, in 2 different venues, to declare the state champion? What is this "All A" you speak of?
-
Kentucky's biggest problem is geography. We aren't a square, aren't big enough to have one city with all the perfect venues (maybe Louisville...maybe), aren't small enough to where everything is close to everyone, and don't have roads going in all the right places to make any venue convenient traveling for all parts of the state.
Step 1. give everything east of Lexington/I-75 back to West Virginia.
Step 2. give everything west of Kentucky Lake to whoever wants it (keep the lake)
Step 3. Invade southern 3rd of Indiana (Bloomington south) and annex it
You now have the all-new Kentucky, roughly in the shape of a rectangle with Louisville in the center of the state. You also get 3 great college hoops rivals in same state (doesn't improve the college football situation however)

Did I hear the Campbell County job is now open?
If it is, I hope it was Kim's decision, not anyone else's. 2 straight Region 10 titles and reigning Region 10 coach of the year.
-
Diddle has more history
Willing to pay more because of that? And most HS Athletes don't care about history, they want to make their own.
the girls state had a good atmoshphere to it.And the BOKC won't?
May have more attendance the first year but wont sustain it.The population triangle for the Commonwealth is NKY>LOU>LEX. Anything held within that triangle is going to get be better attended because there's a bigger population to draw from.
Will have a lot of empty seats.Just like Diddle

The real excitement came in the JV game that followed.
The real excitement? Some great performances by several of the Pandas. I'm sure ND found the Varsity game just fine on the excitement meter.

The word is that Alyx is leaving to become a coach at NCC. Not sure if that is true, but that is the word. Alyx leaving at this late stage puts the Athletic Director in a bad spot as she tries to find a coach.
Since ND also has a new coach, does this mean NCC and ND will finally schedule each other in the regular season?

by far the majority play club volleyball.
While I suppose some club volleyball is better than none, don't be mislead by this. Playing club doesn't automatically make you good. Just like AAU basketball, travel team Softball, and club Soccer, there is a wide range of club volleyball being played right now in the Greater Cincinnati/NKY area. Some local clubs compete at the highest national level against other high end teams from around the country, while some are little more than glorified rec teams. As wide of a range of talent there is in teams from different high schools, the same can be said of local club volleyball teams.
-
Schulte no longer at Beechwood after a pretty good season. Tigers beat Region 10 Champ Campbell County, a decent Simon Kenton team, went 2-1 vs Holy Cross, split vs NCC, and pretty much defeated all the other local schools (should have beat Conner!). They even took a set from ND.
-
To keep this in NKy for a sec I was wondering what schools NCC & Brossart pull from. Do they have good feeder programs to pull from? If so which schools?
That's a loaded question! Which schools feed NCC and Brossart appears to be a running debate on here. You may want to search. There the official answer, and the unofficial one.
In general, the Kenton County schools have better feeder programs - they are more established and there's frankly more interest in volleyball. Volleyball takes a back seat to other sports in the Campbell County parishes.

I assume All A State Championships count for the non-football sports, since as we all know, if you win the All A - you are "State Champs".
-
I'm more against classifying all sports that have a single champion more than anything else.
Why? And isn't it going on already?
-
So who's the "State Champ"? The Butler/E-Town winner today from Diddle? Or Glasgow who won the All-A? If the answer is both, then don't tell me you are against classes, because you are recognizing that we have 2. You can't be for the All-A as a defacto small school State Championship, but against having classes.
-
We have 6 classes for football and recognize 6 state champions and we 1 other tournament for basketball and people get all worked over it.
Don't misread me. I don't know why people get all worked up over basketball. The All A has a tournament in other sports too - where's the outrage for those?
You might want to thank the All A because it keeps talk of classification for basketball down.I'm all for classes in every sport. Bring it on.
-
The "All A" has 5 other sports it holds tournaments for. Are the winners of soccer, softball, volleyball, etc ordering rings and banners? Are they referring to themselves as "State Champs" ?
Funny how when a team loses in the All A it's "just another tournament"... but when they win, they are suddenly labeled as "State Champs", forgetting the correct title is "All A Classic Tournament Champion". You throw the word "State" in there and that's when things get sideways, because it implies something more than what it is.
You want a banner or ring that says "State Champs"? You have to get it from the KHSAA.
-
Well deserved and couldn't happen to a nicer girl. Can't wait to see which college offer she takes. As I'm sure most know, she's one heck of a softball player too!
-
no one should have to listen to input from parents
I don't think there's an AD anywhere that would refuse a constructive face to face meeting to address legit concerns. I wouldn't classify post-loss BGP gripes as constructive input.
-
I think defending your coach in a public forum is great, Mustang, but you probably could have gotten your point across without saying your players "might look more appropriate in a prom gowns than basketball uniforms" which could be interpreted as insulting, and telling critical parents "I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to" which implies you aren't willing to listen to the input of parents. I'm sure that's not the case in either circumstance.

I think u meant Highlands football... I'm cool with the fact that everyone thinks they have me pegged, when no one actually gets me. Enjoy the rest of the softball season and any other seasons. The overall BGP bias is not for me, so I'm going to permanently exit now to what I'm sure will be thunderous applause.
