  1. The bigger question is Shelton & Grundy are playing 17U again this year? Both of these guys should be freshman in college in the Fall. Does your game get better by stepping down a level?

Unsigned seniors can play to increase exposure opportunities

I love that eastern Ky is well represented...... Congrats to PCC, KCC, Cordia and Hazard that's a great accomplishment.

  3. What is a 'level playing field' though? Or how do you make it "as fair as possible"? I think those are tough calls that none of us really have the answer to.

First of all one would have to recognize that a school with less than 10% of the states average enrollment will always be on an unleveled playing field. And that is the issue at hand a school with a populations of 300+- K-12th grade cannot be expected to compete with the school that has a population of 300+- 9-12th grade. I say the national High School AA needs to address that issue.

Proposal : All school with less than 10% population should have an open enrollment with automatic eligibility......... Now I sure those from the larger school who year after year destroy these local kids who really want to play drive and athletic self esteem what about there college dreams and hopes.... but oh it's for them to transfer out to play just don't have anyone come in........ Do you really want a leveled playing field or is that only with the current rules....... that's not fair at all!!!!

  4. I have a problem with those schools also.

I think if the rules are set then they should be followed.

I have no problem with KHSAA going after all the schools, they won't but I'd be happy with it.

Why does this bother you so???????? Personally I can care less. Let the kids play. Hopefully they will all get to college and be successful working adults some day. Help me understand... Politics in high school sports = (

  5. I believe people are upset with Cordia more than the boys who can't play also.

I'd also be interested in how Cordia allows more credits to be given to help kids to graduate on time. Also does anyone know where Cordia ranks state wide in academics? I mean if people are going to Cordia from all around the world for their academics, I'd love to see how far ahead of all the other schools in the state they actually are. I mean they'd have to be one of the best academically right? Last I saw, Beechwood was the only school in the state to win the National Blue Ribbon this year.

I just did a quick search and found this

Best High Schools in Kentucky - KY School Rankings

Cordia ranked 213th in the state. Not a resounding advertisement of academic excellence.

I personally don't think it's fair for the boys not to play only because I'm sure they were told they could play if they went there...although in the article they say it was never brought up, if you believe that I've got some lad to sell you, so it is the school that I am upset with. Everyone knows what they and Rhodes is trying to do there which is a slap in the face of KHSAA so I have no problem with the boys being ineligible, but I also feel for them because I'm sure they didn't know when they decided to move.

I don't think that all of the transfers have academic issues and more importantly many schools do not help to ensure the student athletes are on a NCAA path and that's more of the issue I think.

  6. How would we even be able to access that list? And remember, they had dorms at Cordia before Rhodes got there. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't quite a few who fit your requirements.

I also don't don't think anyone is 'upset' they can't play ball other than them. People such as myself are defending them and saying 'let them play' but it seems to me like more people are upset about Cordia in general than people upset that the boys can't play.

I think you are right no one care that these kids can't play basketball..... but no one would have a problem with them being in the Choir.....extra curricula activities are a part of school and if they have the GPA let them play. Extra curriculum activities can help kids pay for college..... and that's the problem..... AGAIN I THINK ALL STATES SHOULD INITATE A AUTOMATIC TRANSFER RULE FOR THE LOWER 10% OF SCHOOL WHO ENROLLMENT IS LESS THAN 10% OF STATE AVERAGE. It's obvious that many have a problem with Cordia being competitive. And that's funny.

  7. It is recruiting if kids are asked to come to a school to play sports whether they recieve anything else or not. It's still recruiting. Are you trying to say a DIII college that wants a player to play basketball for them even though they can't give any athletic scholarships isn't still recruiting?

So in all of your Scenerios, if they were asked to come there to play basketball then yes it is recruiting. Why act like it isn't?

To say the only reason those kids from NY and Canada and wherever else came to Cordia out of all the schools in the state, was simply because of the academics then I'd laugh in your face. Don't be stupid and don't act like we're stupid for knowing the truth. Why Cordia? Why would a kid from Canada pick Cordia out of every school in the entire country? Cordia is not one of the top academic schools in the state the last I checked. So don't play dumb because we aren't dumb.

I am not sure if any of you had college dreams or even plans and knew you need a scholarship to get there what's the REAL problem. So if I transfer I have to be a nerd. You are talking about these transfers like the are the tops in the Nation players. They are good but non are highly recruited players. To my understanding most are academically achieving at a average or better levels. Because someone heard of Rhodes as the coach in a area where there is nothing to do but school work and basketball knocking out two birds the child will be able to focus on getting better and improve or increase his/ her GPA. And not to mention play for a coach that played at the highest levels. As a parent that is not recruiting that is me making a decision to put my child in a situation I feel will meet his overall needs for college prep. Is that recruiting no is a parent attempting to put there child in a better or good situation to help him/her obtain there life goals.

This is different from some of these other situations where you are bring in the top players in the state. And the reasons these boys are not eligible is crazy!!!!!! because they move with there fathers........SIMPLY SAD or because of there size and the possible potential to play????? We as adults need to stop the politics of sports. With the rising cost of college all states should go to open enrollments for all school in the lower 10% of the states average enrollment; and help all the small programs everywhere that has been taking centuries of beating become competitive and make the these coaches go back to coaching sports. TO MUCH DANG POLITICS IN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS!!

  8. For those talking about the spirit of the game and how it's about kids' hometowns and playing for their counties:

You do realize that Perry Central has two transfers, one from Wolfe County, who is the son of a former UK player, and one from Philadelphia, correct? (Two kids from Philadelphia was the rumor I'd heard all summer, but apparently only one panned out).

You do realize that Knott Central's Cameron Justice started out at East Ridge and they got a kid in Keegan Simmons who came in from Bath County this year, correct?

You do realize that Hazard's Chris Hudson came from Texas to Cordia, then transferred to Hazard, and that they have 3 exchange students awaiting eligibility rulings, correct?

Better yet compare enrollment! now really most school with a High enrollment of more than 200 students find it difficult to find 15 solid coachable players. What's Cordia's enrollment they should expect to find what 2-3 player . Talk equality. Now if a kid come to school they can't be included in extracurricular activities. ..... These are kids and this is school.... yall take this stuff way to serious all this conversation for freaking high school. Grow up let get a life. They have sat out a half of season let the kids play. Heck Malik Hines is........... and doing it well.

  9. What's really amusing is that some of the very 14th region schools that are up in arms against the eligibility of these Cordia kids are the same ones that have done the same thing for years, bring players into their school from other places. The only difference is that their kids were "transferred" from neighboring schools or counties while Cordia's are from out-of-state.

Right when you look at your schedule and Cordia is one of the easy W..... now with the hiring of a AA Coach - AA kids are drawn to the school and they can compete because the once was easy WIN is no longer an easy assumptions something has to change...... They might mess with my chances to RUPP..... I say COACH THE DANG GAME AND STOP WORRYING. These transfers all came from different areas but with similar backgrounds yes academics and the extracurricular are important. COLLEGE IS EXSPENSIVE. So to have the academics without the extracurricular might not work for everyone. It doesn't have to be recruitment.....

  10. The player you are think of is Lue Lue (Chisolm) he is very active on defense and is a very good guard who is the primary scorer for the JV team and has put up plenty of points. Frimpong is also great on defense and is a good shooter. Cordia will have to win with the Guard game Oumhar is not ready and for his age he is doing an excellent job just need time for development of the post offensive game and we are putting a lot of pressure on him without Hines, Josh Ortiz or Rich Chapman. Hopefully we can get a break and give us so size in the post..... Rebounds are hurting us especially on offense.

I wish Hines well and hope his move bring him much success.

  11. No upset. Cordia is really not very good. Without Cunningham they are average at best.

I beg to differ...... First of all basketball is best won as a team when you can get everyone involved..... I feel you have the best guard in the state with CC, AJ, JJ, Felix, Austin, Lue Lue and really Fritz because is is a 3 or Sm Forward. And 5 are seniors..... If you let these guy play and not stop the ball with every possession I know you would see a different team..... They are allowing the defenses to set up but don't move the ball to break down the zones --- because no one is running a Man 2 Man because they can't guard them (Cordia) M2M. CC is a good guard but I think he would be better off ball because of his ability to score..... JJ is a natural PG who has always been asked to score but like to pass and hit the jumper when necessary and he is skilled and can take you off the dribble in one on one situations and then he looks to drop off to the big. AJ is very athletic and is a guard who can score and help handle the ball..... Felix can hit that open jumper on any given night..... Fritz has got to get stronger with the ball because of his height he is a natural small forward and will have the challenge of guarding the smaller guards at 6'9...... Lue Lue is super fast but will have to learn to utilize his big man because of his size.... Austin is a pure PG and will have to work to become a 85%-90% shooter and get the past first mind set....... Oumhar will be a beast in two years with added size and improved offensive skills he will be unstoppable.....

Now I would use Oumhar as a rebounder and shot blocker this year with easy scoring opportunities (drop offs, mix match and transitions) and I would play a basic guard fast past game until my big get cleared or in case they don't get cleared......With a 7 man guard rotations I would not slow up until the game is won...... And I would press the crap out of every team....... and I would have the shooter gets back rule... everyone must crash the boards.... Oh and my defense I would press into a zone and make my guard work with help side, trap wing only, looking to jump passing lanes for easy scoring and transition opportunities....... I would look to make it hard for bigs to touch the ball and if they get it they would be immediately doubled......... On any giving night any of those player could lead in scoring..... Then CC would look a lot better....The game is too slow..... TRUE POINT GUARD MAKE THERE TEAMMATES BETTER....... I have seen sparks of his greatness but I have also seen the reverse LET THEM play and you will see the players Cordia really have.... Educate the ALL the kids when they make mistakes so they get better ........I GO ON RECORD SAYING CORDIA HAS A GREAT TEAM

  12. And what make a teammate who you say is mad word the Gospel....???? they are upset..... and how would the know the particulars of another KID situations... the kid might not know!!!! REALLY

Prove it by interviewing other players on the team and players that have transferred from that school because they are upset about playing time......a school rep wouldn't be the one to contact these players all coming to one school at one time....it would be the coach.....where have you come up with this from??
  13. Really I and I did say I feel that there those who oppose competition. The problem is the KHASS say there were recruited NOW HOW IN THE H---- do you prove that????? If it's not proven then it's not so.... and to prove that would mean the kids said they were contact by a school representative...... And this has not happened..... (Cordia has always been an Win for other teams)

These kids are on social media, play summer ball, attend camps and communicate and those that are committed to the sports always seek to better themselves. And playing for coach who played at highest level is thought to be a benefit.

I have never wanted them not to be eligible to play for Cordia this year. I hope for the best for these young men. I love to watch good basketball. If they are eligible they should be playing.

Crossover, you seem to be familiar with the Cordia team and players. What is the holdup with the 3 players not being ruled eligible? I've never heard a clear answer for that question from anyone, only guesses and assumptions. Transfers all over the state seem to just glide through the eligibility process with few problems, but Cordia has had all kinds of road blocks. Why is that?

  14. He was in Lexington at the tournament......... HE is not in Mississippi and will be playing ball...google him next week...... KY the state of Basketball..... Really.... Let the kids play... and leave it to the coaches to teach the kids to WIN.... (that's to much like right) to much time spent trying to say why kid shouldn't play.....

I hope those kids at Cordia band together and refuse to lose...... THEN WHAT??????

  15. If they get an injunction from Frankfort, by the time it gets here it will be right around the start of the district tournaments.

I'm curious to hear if Hines actually moved back to Mississippi

This is true however don't think he is in Mississippi.......

These are kids attempting to better themselves and situations....... I don't know how some sleep at night when basketball is so important that adult desire to see kids not play so they can win a GAME and pray against kids trying to obtain the best opportunities of scholarships..... Sad Sad Sad.......... Only in Kentucky.

  16. Joker, do you not see the fallacy of using the other schools you mentioned in your argument? You have used PCC, KCC and in another thread NCC. In those, you have said X school has gotten 2 kids, or X school has gotten 3 kids over the course of 2 years, yet no one talks about them. Well, that may or may not be so (I remember a threads specifically naming the Movaes brothers a while back with some very nasty comments), and no I don't know the particulars in most of those other cases, but dude 2 kids coming in over 2 years DOES NOT EQUATE to 13 kids in two years...again that's the # I have seen reported having come into the Cordia program. I will compare it to an outbreak of meningitis. Lets say two kids at UK come down with bacterial meningitis. Bad stuff, might get a short mention on the local 6:00 news. 13 kids come down with it on UK's campus? It's the lead story on the national news. That's the difference. Lets have a little perspective here when comparing. And no, I'm not defending any other program who may have, through less than "legal" means (the R word comes to mind) come by other transfers with this post.

do you not agree that if the 1st 2 cases were isolated it would/ might have prevented the spread. And is the meningitis worst in the other 13 cases than in the 1st 2 diagnosed or is it all meningitis a very contagious Bacterial infection that must be treated? Thus the purpose of KHSAA to decide which cases are no longer a threat and those that are threat. Cordia this year has 1 case that is contagious to date from what I've read. The others are rumors and are ok and no longer contagious.
