  1. If you are so great at baseball and are so smart, why don't you tell us a bit about your baseball career...

Gladly. I grew up down south and played in a program that you read about in USA Today every year. Then my family moved to KY and I played in the State Tourney my junior and senior year at a school you are probably jealous of. Then I played D1 in a mid-level conference. Was never drafted but I was offered a roster spot with the Freedom which I turned down. How bout you Clubby?

  2. ---he lives and breaths baseball everyday. This is a great hire for Estill.

He doesn't live and breath baseball every day. Baseball is a big part of his life for three hours a day, four months out of the year.

Here is a quick list of real baseball guys that live and breath it everyday:

Buford Sanders- Have you seen his squad run the hidden ball trick after a sac bunt? Genius!

Matt Tyner- He has made a lot of noise in two short years. With mostly Freshman and Sophomores.

Brian Green- I would pay money just to listen to him talk about how to lead off second.

These are real BG's. Combs doesn't even know how to put down a batters box (and that's a fact).

  3. C'mon man, you're really getting out of your depth here. I guess your mind would be completely blown if you knew about some the offers he turned down after MoCo. Also, literally none of the coaches on that list are mediocre, LOL.

If all these schools wanted him, why did he end up at wolf?

80% of that HOF is mediocre. I was just on their web site and I was laughing at some of the guys they put in there. For real if you think that's an elite group of baseball knowledge then I can't help you. That HOF is nothing but a good ol boys network. Your boy Phil is in their as a umpire!!

  4. And you saying you could start as a 6th grader on his teams only further proves how good of a coach he is. If he achieved the record he has with a talent pool so scarce that a 6th grader would start, regardless of how good that 6th grader is, he really is a heck of coach... Think about it.

You got me. For real you got me. Touche.

So actually, I guess it would have been the 3rd grade.

  5. :ohbrother:

Dude, what's with your vendetta against Combs? Anytime anything is said about him on here, you offer up some form of bashing, often in an ill-founded nature. Anyone who's talked to Combs knows he has a great baseball mind. I just don't get the hate, man.

You are right, he is awesome! That's why all the good programs want him.

  6. Congratulations to Harrison, and good luck at State.

It wasn't however a game where the Camels were dominated by a superior Harrison team this day. Harrison wins 1-0.

Martin surrendered five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Walsh gave up three hits while walking three batters and striking out nine.

Martin threw 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes, while Walsh threw 62 of his 94 pitches for strikes.

Each team charged with an error.

Camel runners getting picked off at 1st didn't help the Camels cause.

    Any hit batsman?

  7. No I did not, and I do not think that information is true. But if he truly did apply and they did not hire him, then that proves my point even further. They wanted to hire a young no-name that they could control.

Yeah, I know. I was agreeing with you.

  8. This post is laughable. I want to know the standards you are going by that allow you to judge the previous coach, other wise known as Coach Combs, as less than "half way decent," and the current coach as "half way decent?" Would you like to compare the two? Let's start with Coach Hackett. He seems like a good, young coach, but this is his first year as a head coach. He inherited a plethora of upperclassmen (around 10 seniors I believe), and the 40th district, talent wise, is at its lowest point in 10 years. Seems like favorable circumstances for any coach. Lets talk about the old coach, Coach Combs. The reason why I am even posting on this thread is because I played for him in his early years at MoCo. He inherited the program when it was at its lowest point in a very long time and was able to turn it around. I have never seen a coach work harder than him nor met a better man. Also, Coach Combs has a few credentials. He is in the KHSBCA Hall of Fame with nearly 400 wins, and I believe he has been coaching for around 17-18 years. I'm no mathematician, but that's around a 20 win average yearly. I could go on if you would like me to...
