  1. All 3 of the names mentioned sound like great candidates. I saw some of Flener's teams play and he wasn't let go because of his coaching ability. He does a great job and has done so at several different places. Should be an interesting hire.

I also had a chance to see Flener's Teams in action, very intense high pace. Very exciting for High School basketball. Looking on the Site he has compiled over 330+ wins in College and High school combined.. From the comments other's have said about him he is great with kids and very social and very involved in the community. This would be a Great Candidate for MOCO.

  2. Good insight my thoughts and stats. Just would go with feldhaus or Holland. Both proven winners as well but as you said none are bad choices. Think Flenner is returning to coach his son and that's it. Only one of the three to win a region is Holland and a state semi finalist as well. Feldhaus has 3 straight 20 win seasons. Holland has 81 wins in three years per Khsaa. Montgomery needs someone that wants to stay. Live in mt. sterling. Raise their family and love on the community in my opinion.

You have some points as well. I would think if any of them would have the opportunity to Coach there they would move I would say they would stay and do what they have to, to be apart of the community. All of them are teachers, and would need to stay X amount of years in a school system to Retire.

  3. Didn't handle the Lexington Catholic well at all. Was let go after one year. Is a great guy. Lots of things went on at Catholic that year. Think he coaches college girls so really not relevant in this case.

According to his History, 53-12 at Catholic 2 years is Pretty Good, first year 11th region runner up, and 2nd year made the final game of region with Record of 29-4 at Catholic.. Pretty Good, So very qualified to Coach boys not sure the case at Catholic but if you dont win state at catholic they look for other coaches.. however, Coached a Glasgow says 137-65 with a KY All A Championship. and Had a Mr. Basketball Brandon Stockton, Coached at west Jessamine boys 41-19 in 2 years.. Was also Assistant Mens Coach at Asbury University..

Good Coaches Can coach either boys and or Girls. I was also reading on the site his Girls team at Asbury was averaging over 100 points a game.. If he can do that for Girls getting them to play fast, then Boys would be a just as easy. Plus I hear MoCo fans like Fast pace games. I also hear if they dont get the right Coach in there some players will be looking to "Transfer"..

  4. Any news on this job? I have heard many people have applied.

I have heard quite a few people.. Spoke with someone who works in the same office as Mr. Phil Rison, they said they heard the Names of Bart Flener, Willie Feldhouse, Jason Holland, person said there were some other names but those were some names they kept hearing. in no particular order But who knows.

So i did a brief search on them through Google also Khsaa site

Willie Feldhause --- Russel County 2012-13 season 26-6

Jason Holland --- Oldham County 2012-13 season 25-8

Bart Flener --- Asbury University 2012-13 season 23-10

If we just based things on Records of 2013 you could go with Coach Feldhaus, However College Coaches are more attractive to any high schools and the connections they have. Im sure if it was these 3 it be a tough choice. If i was AD or whomever is picking, and seen what Happy done as a past / Current College Coach, I would go with the College Coach again. They are more experienced, and coach a college style. This enables Kids to understand the college game to help them play at the next level. Someone Said his son can play to He will be a freshman. Looking on his the University website his History coaching at Lex Cath, is a big name school in high school so He would def be able to handle a MoCo type school. Again these are the name that the person said and my thoughts on those.. Im sure all those coaches mentioned would be good as well.

  5. So you really think Happy campaigned for the MC job a year ago? You don't think the admin. of MC had anything to do with going out and getting him? I might be totally in the dark on this. Please enlighten me if I am.

Again, Coach Starns is a great guy. I've known him for a long time. I just don't think he will be hired at Montgomery Co.

I dont think he will be hired either.. Why would he leave a team he could go back to state with..... Just saying Happy did not campaigned for the MOCO position mt thoughts on that.

  6. Like Happy didn't campaigned for it at Montgomery...did that leave a bad taste to the folks in MC athletics that matter? Like Happy didn't hold the system hostage he negotiated his salary and his wife's! Did that leave a bad taste in MC athletics that matter? He was aggressive and did what he had to do for himself. Did it leave a bad taste to the ones that matter in MC athletics how Tony Wise was treated and pushed out the door? WOW!!! LOL!!!! The Superintendent and AD will make this hire like they did the last one period. If I'm a Superintendent and want a Coach I believe Coach Starns would be on my radar regardless of what others think, he's been there done that and has experience and is a proven winner that's the bottom line!!

I wouldnt pick Starns... plus he as a Stacked team coming back.. be silly to leave.. Im not sure were i would go with this..

  7. If I'm applying for a job at Montgomery Co. HS, I'm worried about impressing 3 people: the Principal, the AD and maybe the Superintendent. I don't care what Joe Bob down at the bank thinks about me. Just my opinion.

I do agree jahearme.. That is how it should be.. But thats not how things are working no more.. It always comes down to who you know. Now and days its John and Jane doe that have the pull. again should be like that but it is... both are valid points

  8. I dont think the Head Job will go to someone on the inside.. I dont believe Scott Hundley, (he is waiting on the Scott co. job) I dont think Wayne Breedan (plays to slow of a game average 40 points not exciting for fans, When MOCO was averaging 75)... If I were MOCO i look for a College Coach again, maybe local schools. For instance Berea Head coach took the the Paris Job I heard a while back. Bart Flener would be an options Coached at a Few Colleges, Lex Cath, Glasgow (with Mr. Basketball Brandon Stockton).... Who knows. What they will get.. Im sure this will be a job that will get a great amount of inquiry... What About Akeem Scott former player there, I know he coaches at Asbury, His Late father was a great Coach and its in his blood. He was assistant with the Girls program their Back to back state trips, then went to Asbury as an assistant help lead them to 23-10 record the best record in Asbury History. I have seen some of his workouts He is tough but the Kids Love him.
