I am not particularly fond of the allusions you are insinuating if you are trying to say private education is the best educational route in all instances-- and this is coming from someone who attends a private Catholic university himself. Please do us all a favor and don't heap onto the entitled, elitist stereotype we already face, and I mean that in the nicest and most sincere way possible.
Even in cases like you mention, if someone does not want to take some form of assistance offered to them, that's their decision and that's good enough for me. Besides, I'm sure that plenty of the 'tuition assistance & work program' packages sometimes offered to exceptional athletes aren't offered to just anyone.
I never said Catholic school was the best education or better than public school. My kids go to public school. I simply said the kid's education should come 1st. If the kid was in the Catholic school in the 1st place, then obviously the parents wanted that for their kids. So if it was truely about a financial hardship, then I would make sure they exhausted all other options 1st.

Yea I think that's a valid concern. I hope CVH continues to keep his confidence. I think once he finds his role on the team he will be fine.

A lot of private schools offer tuition assistants & work programs. I would say if the kid still really wanted to attend the school, the parish would help. No question in my mind. But sometimes that's the out kids & parents use to leave. I would think education would be the parent's 1st priority.

Ok Ill let you say whatever. I know different.

Saw some summer ball & they looked pretty good. I do think post play will be an issue for them. But I've seen CVH hit the outside shot a lot. He will impress some people with this team. I don't see defenses being able to lay off him to help on Nick. If so CVH will make him pay. I think after last year he will settle in just fine.

Yes he is left handed but prefers to shoot right. I've watched him play since about 6th grade. He fits well with Holmes quick game pace. I'm sure a bunch of Holmes fans are hoping the transfer is approved. Not sure of the situation. I do know his sister is still enrolled in HC & will attend HC in the fall.

He is a lefty! Just can use both hands.

She fits in really well with the HC girls! Excited to see what the season brings for them.
-
I believe the girl from Lloyd is Devin Cheatum. She is an incoming Freshman!

You have to have the personnel to run and press and HC doesn't.
In my experience if you condition the kids right they can do whatever you want them to. Just as Benny Rice down there.

Has anyone actually seen Ryan Schrand coach? I'm wonder if Holy Cross will stay with the same slow pace game in pervious years or speed it up a bit. & also add a press, which has be lacking in passed years. & I think Andre stays. More McClendon's in the middle school.

Here is how it used to be. AAU governs many sports. Age cutoff is Sept 1. A player can play 15U if they are not 16 by Sept 1 of the AAU year. Of course, exemptions used to matter but not on the high school years.
Thanks for the info. My kids play AAU. I always refer to it by age. I always think of exemptions as a kid with a late birthday or a hold back kid.

Heard today that Markel McClendon (Holmes) is playing for All Ohio- Red 15u.
AOR is an EYBL team and has the Cunningham (I believe this is his last name) kid that goes to Wilmington and is an absolute stud. Possibly the best player in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana for that freshman class.
Why do they call it 15u & not Freshman/9th grade? He is 16.

Yea I heard from a very very reliable source....& I know he is interested.

One of the greatest players of all time is on the staff and nobody is even mentioning his name. He has brought alot of good talent in the school while he has been there. A big slap in the face if he has not even been interviewed Imo.
I've heard he is a leading candidate. A lot of the right people pulling for him.
