  1. This was my son's senior year. I can't tell you how proud I am of all of the seniors, 20 of which have been a part of the team all 4 years. Now they are brothers for life. What a battle! Old Grappler...thank you for always cheering for them the past four years. I never realized how much HARDER it would be watching your child finish their last game, then it is finishing your own....

  2. My sons played at a very successful school where there would be 30+ seniors on the team. The head coach switched the senior night to the first home game instead of the last because it was a much more pleasant handshake with the parents of the players who didn't get enough playing time.

And on the other hand, it's nice for the senior that had limited playing time to get a little recognition for being committed and and there for the varsity to practice and get better with. My son had a coach in pee wee that was very good at that. He consistently praised the 2nd string for getting in there and working hard and helping win as a team.

  3. I'm so glad these Boone boys keep working at it. To watch their whole student section walk over to cheer them out of their locker room at half time during the first week game against Lex Cath shows a lot of class and pride. Especially after feeling great after the scrimmage the week before. Keep your heads up and work hard Boone boys. You actually do have a lot of people rooting for you. Hoping for a good game. Good luck Ryle boys too.

  4. My understanding is that they are in the interview process. There are a lot of good kids on this team. I hope they do push out the bad apples and give these boys something to work for. I know plenty of boys who are there giving 110% hoping to get noticed and coached.

  5. So it's okay to stay in our neighborhood? Wow, I'm slightly offended by this. NO one wants it in their neighborhood. I am sad Florence has turned the way it has. I'm sick of it honestly and wish something would be done. It also doesn't help that low income housing shut down in some surrounding areas to "improve" that area with shopping etc and pushed more low income housing to be started in Florence. It's a shame the way Florence was allowed to "grow".

  6. The Bandits will play most their home games at Thomas Moore.

Correct. That is what I read as well. I believe the BCPWFL has a meeting tonight with the parks regarding some teams being moved off of their practice fields at Idlewild for the Bandits to practice on. The argument being, they are not a "Boone" county team per se. Play games in Kenton county etc. Not sure what the outcome there will be...

  7. The Bandits team, and I could be wrong, was created because of a wish to keep ONE of the Hebron midget teams all together. There are TWO Hebron midget teams in BCPWFL. To me, it appeared this was the "winning" Hebron team. The draft into a Hebron jr division team could have allowed kids to meet MORE kids from Hebron and chance different wins/losses learning etc. The league drafts to their high schools. My understanding also, is that Conner is NOT in direct support of this like a feeder you see in Union. Again, this is just my understanding..... I also witnessed a few come back and request to come back to the BCPWFL after signing up for Bandits and their fee was waived.

  8. Just my input from experience. We go to Disney almost every 3 years. My father must use a wheelchair to get around the park. There is a line/que for everyone that fits the wheel chairs, on 70% of the lines, you do not jump ahead. You are in the regular line for most of the way. So much so, that I really have a hard time believing someone would pay this and not feel ripped off. Actually, there are quite a few times that it's a detriment (sp?) to the group. You get seated for shows in areas that aren't that great for viewing. Also, the groups I've seen stop the line and go to the front and visit longer are typically the Make A Wish foundation.... Just my 2 cents. :)

  9. I am wondering about these new consignment shops popping up that specialize in prom/bridal/sorority wear. I know I've heard a lot of girls use this for formal wear for their sororities, is this a faux pas for girls in high school going to prom? I've seen beautiful gowns posted and jewelry as well. Is this a no no for girls?

  10. Sadly, I do not believe they are wrong. With regards to Self Funded groups, which takes you out of some of the requirements of the ACA "Affordable" Health Care Act, in the past it was group's over 50 lives at least. Surprisingly, no, not ALL large groups were self funded. However, they are moving to it now. In fact, Carriers are starting plans for self funded UNDER 50 lives, which in the past, was not seen often. Also, many healthy small groups are requesting "early" renewals or change to carrier prior to 1/1 to avoid the huge cost increase they will see in 2014. The "sick" small groups will look forward to relief in 2014 to their premium costs. And sadly you will likely see a good portion of small groups simply drop the employer sponsered plan in 2014 and send their employees off to the exchanges. If I heard correctly, then, at tax time, individuals will show your proof of insurance or suffer the penalty.

  11. So let me ask this, say she's not gay, and single, no husband, mid thirties and decides she wants to have a child through AI. Still Wrong? Im sure NDA would think so right? and they would fire her right? Thoughts?

I feel like I remember hearing about a teacher in Ohio who was single and decided she wanted to have a child, but was not married. And I believe, yes, they fired her.

  12. Another death in NKY of a young girl in her 20's this week due to this horrid addiction. Burlington to be exact. Yet, I've seen nothing on it in the news. This epidemic needs to stop and the young adults need to see proof that indeed, you can die! Stop protecting how you want the community to look and get honest. We have people of all ages and in all communities in serious trouble.

  13. 1. Revamp the system: There has been a great deal of disparity in the program. There's been very little involvement with the Pee Wee feeder system, the Freshman team was isolated and often ignored, and the JV team was often treated like a step-child and used primarily as a scout team. They didn't practice as a unit and didn't know who their kicker would be until the first game. There needs to be a plan and involvement from the Top down.

    2. Utilize the athletes in the program. There is so much speed and athleticism on the team, yet many times it went to no avail because of the "system" which called for a run up the middle 30 times a game. Develop your system around your athletes, don't pigeon hole your athletes into a system. The game has become one based on speed and Boone has not adapted.

    3. Embrace the community, parents, and supporters of the program. The former Coaches many times were polarized towards the ones who cared about the program most.

*On a side note, I've heard that Coach Griffith has already reached out to the Pee Wee program and he hasn't even got to town yet!

Your side note is correct. And has reached out to all the feeder middle schools as well. Very promising so far.

  14. Les Mis has by far, the BEST solos, in my opinion. They make your heart race! : )

^ The best. Especially the last 2 minutes, and viewed in context of "what has gone before".

There are others that rival that one, but it's my personal favorite. It's always hard for me to choose between solo/duets and big chorus numbers. The finale and "One Day More" from Les Mis are great, but so are the poignant solos like "Bring Him Home", "I Dreamed a Dream", and "Empty Chairs".

Wicked is one where the solos/duets outshine the choral numbers IMHO.
