  1. St. Henry continues to have trouble finishing. One of the three goals was a PK. The Cru had lots of shots but unfortunately most of them were weak, right at the keeper or both. The Dixie keeper did have a really nice save on a screamer that was curving into the goal.

In in order to have a successful post season, the Cru needs to figure out how to score consistently and stop playing down to the level of their competition.

  2. This game was played at St. Henry not at Simon Kenton. This was the best Simon Kenton team I can remember in recent memory. A lot of speed and energy up front along with skill. Based on their size I assume most t of them are underclassmen. If so, SK should have a nice team next year and the year after.

  3. How is it that for the past 4 years we've had either an opoy or dpoy and this year we get no respect. We are a better team, better players and deserve some recognition. Not the players fault, they donate the schedule[/quote. No disrespect to your team or any of its players but who do you have this year that could be better than Hensley was last year? Having watched NCC both years I'm not seeing that person.
  4. Henry Clay took a 1-0 lead probably ten or fifteen minutes into the first half and then controlled possession for the majority of the half. Sanders scored a goal for SH on a PK after Henry Clay is called for a takedown in the box to tie the score in the first half.

The SH coach must have had a very good motivational speech at half time because the Cru came out with a lot more energy to start the second half and possession was much more even. Sanders scored the second goal for the Cru off of an assist but I can't recall who made the nice pass.

Both teams had chances they didn't convert in the second half. More for Henry Clay than St. Henry but the Crusaders hung on to win.

On behalf of Henry Clay I will say that the foul that was called to give SH the PK looked questionable at best from my vantage point. It appeared that the defender came in and got the ball clean and then DJ tripped over him. That said, the CR was a lot closer than me and had a different angle. The Henry Clay section which was on that end of the field displayed their displeasure with the call loudly.

  5. First off, St Henry was never in the game. If Rabe does not get hurt its a 20+ win for Dixie. When he was guarding Goetz, Goetz did not score.

Once Rabe went out of the game at the beginning of the 4th quarter a few things happened.

1.) St Henry started to press

2.) St Henry coach put in a "goon squad" (classic hockey move)... that's why the 2 bigs were out... I was sitting right behind the St Henry coach and could hear him... he was telling his guys to give the hard fouls, but to not get the intentional

    3) the refs switched the way they were calling the game... they were calling super tight fouls in the first half, but then started letting St Henry get away with "hack-a-shaq"... the refs really started holding their whistles and multiple Dixie players were getting hit in the face and even knocked down...

    4) I don't know why, but Dixie went to a 2-3 zone after Rabe went out... St Henry has no real speed, nor the athletes to hurt Dixie in a M2M... but Dixie played zone and gave up too many open 3s... St Henry hit a goofy amount of them

Again, I came away less impressed with the Cru... Dixie at full strength beats them by 20+

One last thing... several parents and players saw the St Henry player laughing as he walked away from Rabe while he was on the floor hurt and crying

I guess I witnessed a different game than ennam did. The so called goon squad was the same group that cut the Dixie lead to four in the second quarter. Perhaps that's why Faust played them in the fourth quarter. Also I believe Rabe was playing when St. Henry made that run.

I've never before seen a bunch of 5'9", 165 lb kids called goons in high school but I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. They were giving up an average of at least four inches and thirty pounds across the board but they were quick and aggressive on defense and offense.

From a St. Henry fan perspective I didn't notice the referees changing the way they called the game but that's subjective.

All of that said, Dixie has a very good team and an excellent defense.

  6. St. Henry possessed the ball 75+% of the game. HC got chippy after first goal and worse after second. Jersey grabs, late hits and undercuts.

Two yellows to SH and one to HC.

Referees finally seemed to realize that one of the HC defenders was the common thread on many of the issues.

Nice game by. HC keeper who is apparently a freshman.
