  1. Was there for the St. Pat - Silver Grove game and the competition that both teams showed was great. Neither team can compete on a nightly basis with most teams. Silver Grove was up at half but lost. They wound up with only four girls on the court at the end of the game due to players fouling out but they were still had a chance to win the game. This is what the All A tournament is really about.

  2. All Region awards announced today after finals. Congratulations to all the girls who made these teams. The good ole boy mentality still around in the 10 TH. The team that allows the fewest goals all year and only one defender is named to one of the three all region teams , and second team at that. She should have been named defensive player of the year.

  3. nice post

Two teams seemed to be somewhat mirror images of one another. Neither team had an outstanding offensive night, particularly at the free throw line. I can't recall a game in which two good teams shot so poorly from the charity stripe. Lady Bears were 7-21 & Lady Mustangs 12-28. Despite the free throw shooting, I thought both teams left it all on the floor. Loved the effort!

Third quarter was the difference. Bracken led by 3 at the break (24-21) & Brossart outscored them 13-2 in the third. Seemed to be a lid on the BC basket, while the Lady 'Stangs got somewhat hot, hitting 3 three's in the quarter (by my count). Brossart led by as many as 11, if memory serves me right.

Lady Bears made a really nice run in the final 3:00 of the fourth, cutting the lead to 3, but never could tie or take the lead.

Bailey Cummins, Mallory Bell & Jordan Wills each scored 12 for Bracken. Cassidy Jefferson had 3 & I think the other 2 points belonged to Brooke Woods. Jefferson continued her impressive defensive ways. Wills continues to be one of my favorite B.C. players with her tenacity & energy. Bailey Cummins is so smooth for Bracken & did a nice job getting to the basket tonight against above average defense.

Not sure on Brossart's scoring. I was very impressed with the play of Sarah Futscher. She is outstanding in the post & has a good touch on her outside shot. She's as good a post player as I've seen all season. Equally impressive with the play of reserve guard Madison Eisenman, who doesn't seem to have the natural abilities as some others, but more than makes up for it with relentless effort & intensity.

Cummins & Jefferson made the All-Tournament team for Bracken County. Futscher, Eisenman & Stadtmiller received the same honors from Brossart.

Hated to see Bracken's Emma Conley go down with a knee injury early in the 4th that kept her sidelined for the remainder of the game. Emma is my niece & the primary reason I follow the Lady Bears as closely as I do. I'm proud of her, of the game she played, & I hope this injury is not serious.

Finally, it was good to get to meet one of my favorite BGP posters, Mustang. He's good people. :thumb:

Congrats to Brossart & best of luck in the Class A State! :thumb:

And congrats to Coach Kelsch & my Lady Bears on the outstanding effort! :thumb:
