Would the coach of the year happen to be the former UK QB by the same name??
-
Abilene must be the real deal, 35-13 was the most lopsided victory in the "Elite 8" round!! Can't wait to see what they do to those Jersey boys!!
-
What position will he be playing, looks pretty solid on both sides of the ball.
-
What school are you with?
They are referring to the Colerain (OH) Cardinals that played Manual this year.

You have to remember, these kids have no knowledge of Notre Dame as a football power. Notre Dame last won a national championship well before any of these kids were born. To these kids on the football field, Notre Dame is not much different than a UK or UC based on the last 15 years. Someone help me out, but I will take a wild guess and say UK has won more bowl games than Notre Dame the past 15 years. So the football attraction to ND is only there if it was ingrained in you by your parents.
On the academics side, if you are a top level student really focused on having a high level name on your diploma, then Notre Dame's academics make the place very attractive. But if you are not a 28+ ACT kid and not focused on getting a post graduate degree, the academics are not as motivating either. Just being real here. And I am just talking in general without inferring anything upon a specific recruit.
Bottom line, Notre Dame is held in much higher regard by those of us who remember Lou Holtz coached there than these kids being recruited today.
...or by watching everytime ESPN slobbers all over them after a 6-2 start losing to a mediocre USC team, and a Michigan team that went 5-7!! Where did all that hype go when they lost their last four to finish 6-6 and decline a bowl bid?? These kids watch enough ESPN to know that Notre Dame used to be great. It seems like most everyone wants them to get back on top to sort of "restore order" in the NCAA Football landscape. Which personally, I enjoy their and Michigan's struggles alike!!

I'm pretty sure he never played RB, and if he did it was sparingly. His senior year, he was QB, before that a WR. He also played LB, SS, KR/PR as well, I don't remember any RB play.

MANUAL
Sherman Lewis '59 RB Michigan St current OC Washington Redskins
Travis Prentice '95 RB Miami Ohio Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings
Corey Waller '02 RB Harvard
Byron Tinker '03 LB Marshall
Just a few that were overlooked from the Crimsons.

Unfortunately, the list of the players on the team is not posted yet on the Enquirer's page so I will type in the first team for you here and try to link the the entire players list later. No second team was named, just a first team and then a list of honorable mentions. Here is the list of the first team:

Seems kind of odd that the POY is not listed on the team. :idunno:

And there's no way Bob Redman will let anyone, even his principal, tell him who is going to play QB on his team. So Jeff. looks more of a fit than Manual.
You're right on, no way I can see that. Bob Redman will not want to take a job as HP (Head Puppet) at Manual, as he shouldn't!!

After witnessing defeats to both Highlands and SK this year, I think that Simpson is a better college prospect than Collinsworth. Don't get me wrong Collinsworth is great, but IMO, Simpson is just a tad above #22 at this point.

Dewalt did not appear among the leaders on any recieving records list. Did school not send in numbers or did he just not make top 20-25 on any of the list?
Both had incredible HS careers, but I would have to go with John. So what if I'm a "Homer" I think he had one of the best (if not the best) HS careers for a WR in the history of KY Football.
Excellent work, really nice to see two stars compared side by side like that!!

I just thought about this, what about Earl Heyman from Ballard over Cobble from Central?? any thoughts??
-
I wish I had a film of the Warren Central/St. X game to let you see how dominant he was. I don't know how you can say Jones was "definitely" more talented. Last I checked, your height and build was part of said talent. You don't think a good amount/most of a person's talent comes from their physical gifts?
I firmly believe and always will, that if Worm could have thought his way out of a paper bag, he'd be playing on Sundays.
I got the chance to play against him, don't get me wrong, in HS a 6-7 player at any position is intimidating just looking at them. Our 5-10 DB Andrew Robinson kept him in check all game he had one catch for 38 yards, which included 0 YAC yards. To me he wasn't as dominating as Jones. I would like to see stats compared side by side. It's a great list don't get me wrong, but I believe this is a spot where there is some valid debate!!
Ask Josh Chichester or Jared Carter, Terrance Farley, etc. if height and build are a part of one's particular set of skills!

I wouldn't take Mitchell over any of the 3 DB's listed. I don't know much about Cole but I wouldn't take Jones over Dewalt either.
I don't know, I believe Jones was definitely more talented than Dewalt, neither had much of a college career. Jones was electrifying, everytime he touched the ball, he had a chance to score. Dewalt was very very tall for a HS WR, which definitely worked to his advantage in him earning the success he did in HS.

I don't know too many arguments you could make against anyone on this team. Wow!!
-
1st: Ballard 12, Trinity 10
Half: Trinity 19, Ballard 18
3rd: Ballard 34, Trinity 30
Final: Ballard 56, Trinity 53
Ballard (56)- Means 8, Hardin 5, Chiles 24, Parker 2, Johnson 2, Jones 15
Trinity (53)- Corbett 2, Foster 2, Saxton 2, Perito 1, Sewell 27, Armstrong 4, Epley 15
Three Point Field Goals- Sewell, Epley, Chiles 2, Jones 2
Defensive battle huh?? 19-18 at half, 9-6, 15 total points in the second quarter?? I wonder if that's some sort of record?... in the shot clock era obviously!!
-
Just subbed at Iroquois today, was hoping they could pull this one out!! They've got a few pretty god players this year!!

Is playing at small colleges worth it?
in KY Football (High School)
Posted
I played 4 years at Campbellsville, and the small college experience is definitely worth it. When most of your teammates from high school have to hang up the pads after your last loss, and you get an extra 4 years to do what you love, there is no replacing that!!
