  1. I think Mayfield likely wins, but, lets not forget CC did beat Mayfield twice last year and have 18 of 22 starters returning, plus, they're at home. I think either team is good enough to make it past Beechwood, Holy Cross or Frankfort this year and to the title game. Although this game is big for homefield purposes in the playoffs, in the bigger picture, theres a 95% chance that these 2 teams will play again in the Regional finals and both teams are capable of taking one or both or losing one or both...

    Amen.:thumb:

  2. Now Shaggy12 deep down in your heart you know this isn't going to happen. But you do have four days to fantasize. I can see 375 miles away to your east that Mayfield will TCB. (take care of business). But anyway good luck to you and all of the CC and Mayfield teams and fans. Should be a hard fought game. :thumb::thumb: I'll be checking out your game.

Doesn't really matter to me either way. I'm from Lone Oak. Just saying, Crit's gonna be tough, again.:D

  3. One way to approach the "East vs. West" issue is to hypothetically match the top teams from each side of the Commonwealth:

    Boyle County vs. Lone Oak

    Bell County vs. Allen County-Scottsville

    Lexington Catholic vs. Western

    Etc.

Looks to me that while the East may have the "undisputed" top two teams in the state, things even up after that.

To me, the only real "East" team is Bell. Boyle, ACS, Lex Cath and Western are really more centrally located.

With Lone Oak being the only true "West" team out there.

So where's the dividing line? Just curious.:idunno:

  4. I would rather see Boyle and ACS meet up. That is just my opinion, but I guess that is wishful thinking because everybody is already giving it to Lone Oak out of the west.
We met up with ACS last year and they finished us off. So nobody should look past them yet. They have great talent and quite a program!:notworthy:
  5. :thumb:

I graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1992, thus, the PurplePride92 handle. My son attends Boyle County High School and my wife is a Boyle County graduate.

Sorry for the confusion, I am a Purple until I die, as I am a Rebel until I die.:thumb:

Sounds like you've been associated with success for some time now. I'm jealous. :p
  6. Up to this point CC hasn't played Mayfield or Murray. Thats why I said CC had played only one real tough game. Over all they may have a tougher sch. But not at this time. And by looking at the scores of the games I doubt CC used a lot of subs. They haven't won many game by that large of a margin to let alot of subs play in th 3rd qtr. Three of the games they won were by 21 points or less. I doubt they got all of the scoring in the first half and let the opp. score the second. They are not a really tough team like LOHS. But they are good.

    You're probably right.

  7. MAYFIELD 38

    Crittenden Co. 21

Why do I think this? Because Mayfield is the better team.

Mayfield has the better offense. Averaging 42.8 ppg.

The defense of Mayfield IMO is as good or better then CC. I know that CC only gives up 8.8 ppg. But outside of one game on the schedule they have played a fairly weak schedule. Mayfield has given up 15.75 ppg. BUT they have played a tougher schedule. And the scores of the games has let Mayfield play alot of underclassmen. I'm sure thats where alot of the opp. scores came from.

Common opp: CC and Mayfield have both played Ballard Mem. CC won by a margin of 21 points. While Mayfields margin was 37 points.

I have not seen Mayfield of CC play. But I do read all of the post. And I look at stats, strength of schedules, margin of victorys and read lots of sport news clippings from around the great state of KENTUCKY. AND I always sleep in a Holiday Inn Express. So I can't be wrong. Good luck to both teams. And may the best TEAM win. Play hard play smart and respect all. Upsets happen every week CC. So play to win. This will be a hard fought game I'm sure. I would love to see this game but I will be at another tough fight. We play AAA #4 Russell.

I have to say that I think Crit' has the tougher schedule. They've already beat a real good Massac County (Ill.) team. Plus they still have to play against a really good Murray team. Oh, and against Mayfiled too.

Either way, it should be an awesome game. I just hope one of them gets to represent the west in the C' ship game.

Oh, and I think everyone that's winning by halftime usually lets their J.V. in early. Otherwise, I know there's some Lone Oak scores that would have been close to 100. Easily. But alot of folks can say that too.

  8. I understand, I would just use the words "hang on late to win" if they had made a critical td-tieing stop late in the 4th. BC got the ball back with about 4 minutes left and could have scored another td but started taking knees with about 2 minutes left in the game. Did LC make it a close game, yes, but "hanging on late to win" doesn't sound like a true indicator of how the game played out, IMO. I don't think anyone who was there or listening had any worries of about how the game was going to turn out.

Good point. Just what shade of purple are you guys? I'm wondering if we might eventually see purple all over the field before long? Boyle/Lone Oak.

I have great respect for Boyle.:ylsuper:

  9. Since those involved come from all parts of the state, I'm sure geographic bias has no bearing on the BGP rankings whatsoever. :thumb:

hmmm....Or does it? It's kinda like U of L, even when my Cardinals were winning the "Orange Bowl"...hello, the "powers that be" (haha) didn't want to acknowledge the fact that they were winning and deserved to be ranked much higher than they were, because they hadn't been known as a team that had "been there" through the years. That's my whole point behind the "rankings" process. Get it?

  10. I would guess that the committee looked at the fact that LexCath gave the No. 1 team in 4A all it wanted at their place, and viewed that as more impressive than what Lone Oak is doing right now against what appears to be subpar competition, by comparison to LexCath. In other words, LexCath has improved more since they and Lone Oak played.

Yeah. That's probably how they're looking at it. Ok, so Lex Cath should be #4, behind Lone Oak. We still beat em' and we still haven't lost. We're 8-0.

They're 4-3. I know I know, they lost to Saint X and a few other prize programs on that side of the state, but just because you're from the west end of the state shouldn't mean you are subpar! Forget it. It's a mentality that has to be beaten down by winning.

  11. Sorry my fault it's been a long day at school and thought I saw where someone in a previous discussion said it was three overtimes. I knew it went to OT but didn't do my homework on how many. Regardless it was still a close game, by two evenly matched teams, where the outcome couldn't be resolved in regulation.

BTW I am not a voter in the poll, just trying to explain how they work. It doesn't matter to me who is where in the polls right now the only thing that matters is the outcome in December everything else is just wall material.

    Ain't that the truth?! Amen.

  12. Interesting bunch of stuff said there. Oh and the game was ended in the 1st overtime. It never went to two or three overtimes. Where did you here that?

Anyway, Lex Cath had the ball first and failed to convert. Lone Oak kicked a field goal and the game was over in the 1st overtime. By the way, Lone Oak lead by 22 points earlier in the game.

  13. What does everyone think about the BGP current Class 4A rankings compared to Kentucky Associated Press rankings?

    Class 4A

    Rank-School FPV Rcd TP Pvs

    1. Boyle Co. (16) 7-0 187 1

    2. Bell Co. (3) 6-1 163 2

    3. Lone Oak - 8-0 152 3

    4. Allen Co.-Scottsville - 7-0 126 4

    5. Lex. Catholic - 4-3 90 5

    6. Lawrence Co. - 7-0 75 6

    7. Marion Co. - 5-2 64 9

    8. West Jessamine - 7-0 54 8

    9. Franklin-Simpson - 5-2 29 10

    10. Lou. Valley - 6-1 28

Specifically, how did Lex Cath move up above Lone Oak when they lost to Boyle and Lone Oak?:idunno:
