  1. The schedule is as follows:

    Non district games - Anderson(Away), East Jessamine(Death Valley Bowl), West Jessamine(Away), Estill(Home), Lincoln(Home)

    District games - Wayne(Away), Casey(Away), Jackson(Away), Taylor(Home), Somerset(Home)

I don't see anyway that that end up .500 for the season. I see them winning one, maybe two non district and district games.

I think 4 and 6 would be a great season, but I think 2 and 8 would be more realistic. This is just my opinion.

  2. If their coach did not nominate them to play, they would not be considered . Coaches nominate several but that does not mean all are selected. I doubt that anyone is going to give out the nominated list, only those bthat were selected from that list. As you can see, most of these players are on the Courier Journal or other Allstate teams.High profile players.

As you can see, I don't care who made the team. I am trying to find out who was on the nomination list. The nomination list was posted on the coaches association website for 2009, so why wouldn't it be posted for 2010. I am inquiring about a kid WHO was on the Courier Journal and AP Allstate list. I was told by a certain coach that this kid was nominated so that is why I wanted to see the list of nominations.

  3. The link provides this information. These kids were nominated for this year's team . . . some may elect not to play.

You may need to re-read the article. The players list are the one's that have been selected to play in the game. I am looking for the list that shows what kids could be selected. I know their high school coach is suppose to nominate them, then the coaches get to vote on kids from that list.

  4. He really is. I think he will be an excellent fit for Univ of the Cumberlands. If I am not mistaken, I believe he has scored TDs in almost every possible way. Rushing, receiving, punt return, kickoff return, fumble return and I think via interception. I had the pleasure of seeing all of his games from last year either in person or on film and he was really fun to watch.

I know alot of people in Garrard County really enjoyed watching him play. I also believe he will make Cumberland a good ball player.

  5. I believe that John Shoemaker, OL/DL from Garrard County has also been selected to play on this team.

As far as it being an EKY vs ETN rivalry, that is what is was set up to be, ... but both teams want to win and it is indeed morphing into another Kentucky vs Tennessee all star game. That's okay by me.

I'm sorry, but that is funny. Does anyone look at film on these kids before the team is selected or is it just based on size!!!!!!!

  6. But when you say that "the COACH or one of the coaches has something personal against their best offensive player", how can that not be taken as a personal insult as opposed to just disagreeing with the playcalling? I have disagreed with some of the playcalling and would like to see some of the playmakers get more touches. I also don't have a dog in this fight. However, I do know for a fact that the coaching staff is working behind the scenes to help some of these kids get noticed by collegiate coaches. Considering how few coaches do this anymore, it shows me that there is no personal bad feelings towards any player as you have alluded to. I also have seen most of the Garrard games this year, and Ray has drawn a great of attention in most of those games. Defenses were often geared to stopping him. If you see that, as a coach, you have to try something else that you believe has a better chance at working. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, players also need a blow. Ray (for example) returns kicks, plays both ways, and makes plays both ways (46 tackles, leads team in scoring and yardage, has 5 fumble recoveries, etc). He is on the field the vast majority of the time. 2 way players need a blow every once in a while as well.

Would I like to see Ray get more touches on offense? Sure. But there is more than meets the eye. Accusing coaches as you have is MUCH different than just disagreeing with the playcalling.

This is the exact quote that I said, "It looks like to me that the COACH or one of the coaches has something personal against their best offensive player."

  7. Embarrassing? Not even remotely IMHO, .. and I am not from Garrard County. They did have a few games that I feel they should have won but other than that, they have been okay. Heck, nearly every team I cheered for let games get away that I think they should have won. This year they are hosting a playoff game but last year they didn't. Are the same teams in their district or did they change districts?

Were they going to beat a top 10 team from 5A in Anderson County? Nobody has beaten Somerset this season.

As far as being negative, you haven't said anything directly negative about the kids. But you have used terms that could be construed only as being negative in this thread and the other. "Embarrassing, ... what a joke, ... the COACH or one of the coaches has something personal against their best offensive player, ... At least your coach uses the talent that he has on the team. Unlike your neighboring county, .... etc".

Disagreeing with the playcalling is one thing, and at times, I have disagreed with some of the playcalling. However, you have taken personal shots at the coach(es) and made accusations on at least 2 threads. If you are that frustrated, then don't go to the games OR apply for the job yourself. Just my 2 cents.

I have been negative towards the coaching staff because I think the play calling has been bad this year. It is nothing personal. It is just facts. If you are going to win you have to call plays to get YOUR best player involved. He shouldn't been standing on the sideline on 3rd and 10 or running plays in and out!!!!!!

I have no dog in this fight. I just call it like I see it. Also, I never said Garrard should beat Anderson or Somerset, but they SHOULD have won the other games!

  8. Look for the Lions to have a break out game! Coach Scenters will have the team ready to play. Don't be surprised if this is the week that quiets the "naysayers"!

To see all the negative comments in the Garrard/Lincoln thread about Coach, the staff and team in general is disappointing at best! I know there are MANY teams across the state that would love to be in the position of hosting a playoff game. Let's all get together and pull for the TEAM and COACHING STAFF!

My comments have never been negative to any of the kids on the team, but they have questioned the play calling on offense. I have only been to a few games, but it is obvious that they haven't used their best offensive player enough this year to win games. Sure they are hosting a playoff game and they should have this year based on the teams in their district. The overall record (4-6) is really embarrassing based on their schedule.

  9. I understand your frustration. When you look at the numbers thru the first 9 games, I agree that Tyler should see more touches.

    Tyler Ray: 97 touches (73 rush & 24 rec) / 854 yards (8.8 yards per touch)

    Fred Hayes: 89 touches (80 rush & 9 rec) / 561 yards (6.3 yards per touch)

Cory Wilson: 123 touches (all rush) / 550 yards (4.5 yards per touch)

Personally, I would like to see more of the Wildcat formation. It seems to be very effective when the Golden Lions run it. I hope to make the playoff game this Friday and will be cheering for a big playoff win.

I just think you put your best eleven on the field and put your best playmakers at the positions to make plays.

  10. I based my response on your comment

However, I do agree that Ray needs to get more touches on the ball. He and Hayes are the 2 primary playmakers and they have to have the ball in their hands. I would be surprised if Ray doesn't get more touches this next week. I am hoping to make this first round playoff game. I do wonder about the playcalling, but would NEVER question Coach Scenters positive influence on young men.

I see what you are talking about. I was meaning football wise. I would not debate that he can't teach kids the right way to do things.

Everybody that follows Garrard County football has been waiting for Tyler Ray to have more touches in the games but it hasn't happened and they don't see it happening this week...... and I mean everybody has been waiting!!!

  11. I would let my children or grandchilden play for Coach Scenters any day of the week. He is a wonderful role model and leader.

I do agree that they MUST get the ball in Tyler Ray's hands more often. He is a playmaker and needs to have the ball in his hands as much as possible.

I have nothing but respect for Coach Scenters as a person, but I have to question some of his philosophies on coaching. Sometimes coaches can over coach and can't see what they have right in front of them.

It's been ten weeks now and it looks like Tyler Ray get the ball less every game.

  12. Seems to me DEBO has a personal crow to pick, I know for a fact that Coach Scenters has his heart and soul into this team, he has a fine football mind and anyone who's looking can see progress in the program. Abney is getting better by the week. Look out for good things to come.

There is nothing personal about it. The facts are what they are, if you are going to win ball games you don't have your best offensive player running the plays in and out. It looks like to me that the COACH or one of the coaches has something personal against their best offensive player.

Like I said, that just my opinion from the games I have watched.

  13.

LC averaged all they want on the ground. GC came no where near a shutout. LC, on the other hand, nearly had the shutout. One blown play.

How did a dropped pass effect them shutting LC out? And speaking of Ray, did the GC staff even know he was on the team. I couldn't believe they used him as decoy all night. That kid needs 20 touches a game. He is a talent. However, he isn't as fast as I thought. Calhoun easily ran him down on the screen, too bad he didn't tackle him and keep the shutout alive.

They haven't noticed he is on the team the whole year. The play calling has been a joke all year.
