  1. They played Jellico tonight on the road and lost by 5. Game was not as close as the score indicated as Williamsburg made a late run off of Jellico missed free throws and a couple of bad decisions late in the game by Jellico players. Clearly Jellico was the better team. Williamsburg really struggles with the press. They have some serious ball handling issues with their guard play. Unless they resolve this issue no way they compete with anyone in the 50th.

Ball handling issues...yes. The coaches need to pay attention to the game and realize which guards are capable and which aren't. You can tell a big difference in the pace of the game depending on who is running the point. W'burg does better if they take their time and run through the series. The run and gun show they might as well forget about...it's sloppy and the coaches need to take control and settle everyone down when that starts.

Too, some defense needs to be played!!! These boys have yet to be taught how to defend the base line. They need to get off their heals and be ready. Just going along side the player sticking your chest into them, is not defense!!!! Most of W'burg's fouls are just that.

Their is a lot of talent on the team, but most the time you wouldn't know it!!! Williamsburg plays Wolf Co. today, we'll see what happens.

  2. If you stop and think about it....the team that wins the 13th Region title would benefit from playing in Corbin's Arena, because it would get them prepared to play in Rupp. Not every school would have that advantage...play 3-4 games in an arena setting prior to going to the State Tournament....as opposed to 3-4 games in a high school gym prior to going to the State Tournament. Come on people, think about it!

  3. I'm not sure about that....is his knee recovered? Last I heard was he may not be playing anything the rest of this year.

Barton's recovering well from surgery. Drs gave worst case scenario in the beginning in case the procedure didn't take. If all works out, he may be released 11/30.

Vernon is an asset to the coaching staff. Don't be surprised if you see a more controlled game by the Jackets this year.

  4. I think Williamsburg has the opportunity to win some games this year. It will help when the football players get in the gym to practice with the rest of the team. I know the ones that play football seem to contribute alot to the basketball team with Petit being a big man with years of experience and Payne coming along like he has and of course there is Lowrie and Taylor with these guys to add to the roster it should make for a deep bench.

Taylor is not on the roster this year.

  5. The Root kid is not injured. Not sure where that started but someone's intel is not correct.

Root is not hurt. Thomas will be out for Friday's game, not sure about Taylor, it depends his quad has healed, Wright out, for about 6 more weeks, Lowrie out for two more weeks, Barton will never be back on the football field due to injury. It looks like Root will be playing running back!

  6. It will probably be awhile before the injured rejoin the playing field. Wright will probably be out for about 4 to 6 weeks more. Lowrie may be out for the same. Barton will not be returning. Martin not sure when he'll make it back.

As for Jacket Pride, the entire team chants this in their huddles!

The Jackets played well against Knox Central tonight. District play will be exciting that's for sure!
