  1. I said before that it was an absolute horrible call but those are the breaks. From a batters standpoint, you can't move out of the way of a curve all. If you do you're going to be made look bad more times then not. That's what hunter did and how any coach would teach it. You follow it in and when it doesn't break u flinch away and let it hit you in the back (or back of the leg in this case).

I just feel like the umpire took the game in his own hands when he didn't have to at all and completely effected the outcome. That's too bad. As an official you don't create a controversy on an extreme borderline call at best. That's my opinion at least.

  2. I don't remember there being a hit. Who got it?

Awesome atmosphere at Bobby Jo Whitaker Field last night.

The only play I think that could even be borderline ruled a hit is the slow roller hunter hill hit to start the 2nd inning. If the shortstop had not thrown high it would have been close at 1st. After walk, hbp, and walk HC got their 1st run.

HC only hit 1 ball hard the whole game. Paul jones ball that the 2nd basemen booted and he later came around and stole home.

The winning part in the game for harrison was when bourbon got their lead off to 3rd with 1 out in the 6th and Mullins at the plate. Kendall had a great pitch sequence and struck him out swinging on a full count then k'd the cleanup hitter. That was big time impressive.

  3. Is there anything behind the scenes going wrong in Cynthiana? This has been a very odd year for Harrison County baseball coming off last season and having the talent they always have. Has Coach lost this squad for some reason?

I don't think anything is wrong. I think expectations were tempered a bit after losing 2 senior pitchers, one of which had won numerous amounts of big games since his freshman year. Now that they are playing some quality competition consecutively it is starting to catch up with them. They still have some quality talent and experience but had many holes to fill from last years team, including the entire infield. It will be interesting to see if they can get it together and make a run in the region and possibly beyond.

  4. Can't comment on the game Saturday but did watch both teams Friday. Beechwood's general rowdiness and demeanor stood out in a game that was well out of hand, but I'm not knocking them for that if they choose to do that throughout the game. They also were stealing in 1st and 3rd situations once ahead by 10 plus runs... which at that point I think many would assume to be station to station. Just observations that caught my attention that could be seen as lacking a little class. No clue who was in the wrong Saturday.

  5. Nice win for Scott regardless of circumstances as they are down a bit this year.

Not to get off topic, but what teams are in the Harrison Co tournament this weekend?

Harrison and Boyd Co are in 1 pool, suppose to be with Boone but they dropped out. Greenup, Lawrence and can't recall the 3rd team in that pool. No game on thursday with Boone dropping out, 3 friday night and start back at noon on sat with 1 pool game then the consolation and finals.
