  1. Point well taken about varsity success with young players but the coach won't play but one or two just limited minutes. Not sure why. Maybe high potential is what I should have said. No doubt Lexington is way behind at the feeder level because they only have an abbreviated season of 10 games. Probably won't change though, been like that for decades. Tates Creek has good 7th and 8th graders playing freshman, JV and limited play varsity.

  2. Coach Berry would be a great choice! It is the only way for Danville to move forward if McKinney steps down. No outsiders are accepted in Danville and will never get the support of the community, regardless of how hard they work or how well they do. They have had coaches stay around for more than one or two years and have success but still not accepted. Just the way it is there. Cliff Berry would be a good choice. I wonder if he is in the school system?

  3. I've often thought Ed McKinney was one of the more underrated coaches in the region. He's definitely been the best basketball coach the Danville boys have had in the last fifteen or so years. I wish he had stuck with it in the early 2000s when he got Danville to the finals of the region in back-to-back years when they came within a few points of going to Rupp.

On the radio it seemed as if the crowd was very pro-Danville. Was that the case live or was the radio booth just set up where Danville fans were sitting?

I agree Ed McKinney is an underrated coach in the region but Danville was going pretty good when Matt Yates coached them. He took them to 3 straight regions, won a district his last year, and three straight All A tournaments with one reaching the final 4. I wish he had stayed, the kids loved him. McKinney does seem to have them back on track.

  4. True statement and correct me if I am wrong. The reason those teams you mentioned don't dominate like they should is because they are not discipline players to play a system. They are more a " Me, Me, Me " type players. You look at Lex Catholic, Lafayette, they don't have the GREAT athletes, but they have enough players that buys into the program/ system and they make it work. Which shows when they advance on to the regional and who goes further in the tournament.

What about Bryan Station this year? They seem to be the best in the 11th.

  5. what sign did Boyle students have ? PM me

Does not surprise me if Boyle had an inappropriate sign but does surprise me that the administration made them take it down. I recall a time the students wore shirts that said "100% cotton" on the front and "Thanks Danville" on the back and nobody said a thing. Great job by the administration for having bad signs removed.

  6. It will be interesting to see if this program takes a step forward this coming year. They have had two really bad seasons in a row but I think the young players who had to play the past couple seasons are experienced now and should show significant improvement. As long as the losing of the past two seasons has not taken their confidence.
