Brett Pittman from Middlesboro commits to LMU.
-
That was one heck of a game. Raceland I give you your props, you held right in there with us in a long trip to Middlesboro. Congrats Jackets! Raceland you are a class act, even in taking the loss. Pittman is finally coming around from his quad injury, with 14ks. Way to go Jackets. :ylsuper:

Any info would be appreciated.

In my opinion you put to much pressure on your freshman pitcher. I have to admit that's the weakest pitching I've seen from W'burg In years. You guys have lost a lot with Shelley and Root from last year.

Middlesboros' offense is finally coming around.
-
Who pitched for HC? I know M'boro pitched like their number 4 or 5 man. I knew going in it would probably be a close game, M'boro needs to start hitting as a team and start playing better defense.

Yes Middlesboro's bats finally came alive, But their defense is still struggling. Pittman kept them off balance with off speed. Cox done a good job finishing the game, But Middlesboro has a lot of improving to do on defense to do well in the region.Final. Talked to a guy from down there tonight and he said Middlesboro crushed the ball and that partin kid hit 2 bombs. Not a great start for the Blackbears but they will face eachother again tomorrow in Harlan. -
Good win for Clay County, Who started Pitching for Clay n Corbin?

Yes Pittman is healthy, why would you even ask that? Last year in the district Pittman had 15ks against decent Cumberland team to advance to the region, Then he pitched against South Laurel without much rest. He had perfect game going into 4th inning and then was pulled in the 6th inning with 9Ks with a 4-2 lead, Then Pratt was put in to close the game. I guess you know the rest of the story! I question your knowledge of baseball especially pitching. I've always had respect for South Laurel. We have had some great games and for you to make a comment like that is very disrespectful to Pittman since it is his last year.I think Martin at SL is the best in the region also.Is Pittman even healthy? I always thought their lefty was harder to hit anyway.

Denny Mclain was the best pitcher ever to come out of Harlan.Talk about whoever you like, but if you pay attention you may learn something. -
Root was the man for W'burg last year. They will miss his leadership big time. Is he playing college ball anywhere?I understand Cody Jones is out with an ACL injury. Williamsburg will have to vastly improve on fundamentals, fielding, and hitting to challenge in the district this year. I'm a huge Williamsburg follower, but I'm also a realist. I just don't think they have the pitching to cover these other weaknesses, as I thought was aptly displayed in their scrimmage with North Laurel tonight. It's difficult for me to understand why they seemingly have the same problems each year. The last group that was fairly sound fundamentally was the year Andy Greer was a senior, and had solid pitching from Reynolds, Foley, and Jones, outstanding defensive catching from Root, and a pretty solid infield and outfield. That group was also pretty good offensively and very unselfish. Is it due to the little league programs diminishing? Is it just a cycle? Is it coaching? Maybe all of the above, I really don't know. I hope I'm wrong about this season's team and they improve by leaps and bounds. Moses does have an outstanding bat and is as sound fundamentally as any kid I've seen there, and Barton has alot of talent that should be developed. Any way I've rambled, best of luck on the season. -
Why has this post turned into the glory days. How about we talk about the players playing right now.John Lewis started at catcher on four straight regional championship teams from 1985 to 1988.I doubt any 13th Region has had a better pitching staff in the last 30 years than Cumberland did on the 1985 sectional championship team. Lewis Morris was AP Athlete of the Year as a senior, and I think he signed with ETSU. Otis Lewis was a five-year starter who went on to play at Western. Freddie Maggard was drafted by the Kansas City Royals but went on to play quarterback at the University of Kentucky.
David Shoupe played at Morehead State and Mike Dudash pitched at Georgetown, and numerous other players went on to play college baseball.

Watch out 4 Williamsburg and Whitley there both pretty strong. Williamsburg has Barton which no one else does so that's a plus, they add the hitting of seniors Conlin and Teague. Then Junior Ryan Moses who has the best bat in the region then the finish with Sophmore Jones who's a good contact hitter. Whitley has Cody Jones enough said.
Best hitter in the 13 Region Ryan Moses:idunno:

You're pitching will be you're weakness. Dominate I think a little far-fetched don't you?Harlan County Will soon, Dominate EKY...Not just In baseball, But all sports..Been a long time coming, Wish It would have happend 10 years ago -
Lex Cath started Maronde, Mboro started Pratt. Mboro put a freshman behind the plate. Powell is just experimenting now. The score was Lex Cath 3, Mboro 0. Both teams looked rusty. Seemed like neither team could get the offense going. That Pittman kid really looked impressive. Maronde threw a few miles harder than Pittman, but Pittman's off-speed was a lot better.

Pittman re aggravated his quad muscle. Why do you think the coach called time out? He slipped as he was making a delivery on his landing foot. If you think that's the best of him, You got another thing coming!
