  1. How come nobody has commented on the huge difference in free throws yet? :sssh: :D

Florida has no one but themselves to blame for the foul shot differencial. They stopped pounding the ball inside and drawing contact. Hard to get to the line when shooting from the perimeter.

  2. Again and again Mason fans reply with the play on the court decides the game. NO ONE disputes that. no one. But it is the common courtesy of handing the tournament as a regional and not as the Mason invitational that is the point of where the fans sit, were the student sections are, etc. Mason has won and may win again this year but that does not justify the seating arrangements. This is a regional and deserves the courtesy and respect of Mason for all fans. Mason fans should be embarassed to have no retort other then they win and the game is decided on the court. That does not excuse the arrangements.

Now as I have said in other posts let me save you all the time and reply for you: Mason wins everywhere, the game is decided on the court and we can care less what anyone says because since we win we can sit where we want anytime because we win and we have been sitting there since the beginning of time. If anyone has any other reason as to why the arrangements are as they are besides we win please state them.

As a Mason fan, I totally agree with the seating argument. But please put the blame on the administration, athletic department and most of all Fred Hester. The fans will sit where they want until told otherwise. If seats are designated, then I would gladly move to the other side of the Fieldhouse. The fact is that until they tell me that is the case, I will continue to sit in my regular seat during Mason's games. When Mason isn't playing, I would gladly give my seat up to another fan and move to a nuetral area.

  3. I don't condone any mistreatment of players, I don't care which team it is. You don't seem to see things the same way.As far as the incident you mention, this is the first time it has been brought up...hummm. It was terrible what our players and coaches had to go through during all things...a regional tourney final game. There is absolute no way players and coaches should be spit on. As far as the discussion of it being brought up, you bet it will, again this should not even be a factor if Mason ran things for ALL teams, players and fans. I am sure at these meeting there are far more important things to discuss than to ensure that the Mason Co adm/tourney sponsors are running a tourney to is fair to all team and fans.

Humm....The Middleton incident did happen, whether you want to believe it or not. The point I was making is that high school students do stupid things. If it was adult fans committing these acts, then we have a totally different situation.

  4. Just part of basketball Goldie.

Totally agree, high school kids are immature. If the GRC pep section was behind the Mason bench, the same thing would happen. A few years ago, at Clark, Russ Middleton was hit in the head with something thrown from the student section, while shooting a foul shot. Kids will do these stupid things. It was way worse back in the 80's, when certain schools absolutely hated each other.

  5. WOW! Setty best in the Region? Mason not out of it yet? Mason has a very good coach who gets the most out of his team. Setty is lazy on defense and he was not able to single handedly beat GRC so his skills are above average, but at 6'9" in a high school game you would hope he could score, Pawsett may play in the regional game but he will not be in end of the season shape so he will probably be a non-factor. Give it up Royals, GRC is the team to beat and they beat you by 13 at home ! I'll give it to you guys though, I love your optimism!

Mason does have a good coach, which in the end could make all the difference. Coach Humphrey will get this GRC team beat in the post season, just like last year. Yea, an injured Pawsat was a non factor last year, right? Give O'Hearn the quality talent that Humphrey has and he would hang another state banner.

  6. Not taking anything away from MC, but the State Championship was won with a very quality team. Lots of talent and a highly recruited D1 player.

Captain obvious, thats usually how championships are won. Does Coach K win titles without quality talent? Mason has won three straight regionals. Maintaining enough talent to win four straight is extremely difficult.

  7. 2 posts and already calling for someone to be fired! Earn your stripes before coming on here calling for people's jobs! A lot of great coaches never make it to Rupp.

Humphrey = Great coach? Not sure I would put him in that catagory. He flat out choked away two straight regional titles. This team has state championship caliber talent that any truely great coach would love to have at their disposal.

  8. Mason is not a great team this year, plan and simple. They have had a successful run the past 10 years or so, but just cannot seem to find the right mixture of talent, balance and continuity. It is difficult to win one 10th Regional title, let alone 4 consecutive championships. To my knowledge, this has not been done by any team for several decades. This is GRC's year to close the deal, if they can get over the mental hurdle that seems to always hold them back. If Humphrey doesn't seal the deal this year, he should be sent packing. As far as the Royals are concerned, I am sure they will lace up the shoes and allow the chips to fall where they may. Good luck to both teams.

  9. What it says is the region is devoid of quality talent. He still might have a year but a leopard does not change its spots. Glad the kid can get a free ride and an education. He cannot and will not play there. He simply isn't good enough and his attitude won't allow him to develop.

No, what is says is that Fleming County is deviod of quality talent and the jealousy level is through the roof. You worry about the 16th region talent and we'll worry about the 10th.

  10. What it says is the region is devoid of quality talent. He still might have a year but a leopard does not change its spots. Glad the kid can get a free ride and an education. He cannot and will not play there. He simply isn't good enough and his attitude won't allow him to develop.

Why do you continue to trash a high school student? It sounds like you have personnal issues with the young man. We are talking about a minor. Grow up please.

  11. I don't believe this at all. Trevor Setty was going to Oklahoma State and play for Travis Ford too and ended up taking the Maysville pipeline to Pikeville, look for Treg to follow, that is unless Wells gets the Morehead job if Tyndall leaves.:thumb::popcorn:

Believe it. Danny Weddle posted the story on his sports blog.

  12. Yes, but they were in the FINAL FOUR against one of the best mountain teams to come around in a decade, with a standout throwback player, shouldn't this have brought out even the most fair weather of Mason County fans after their exciting victory over Clark County. I still think they miss those 5,000 or so fans from other 10th region schools that used to follow them to the state tournament, surely there has been no one there from Winchester over the past two years?

Hopefully next year will be the same.

  13. Why you are allowed to continue picking fights with Clark County is amazing to me! Get over the Mason county arrogance and move on, this year is over, you lost just like us only by more and a few games later!:sssh::ohbrother:

Yea, but Mason took home a nice State Semifinal trophy, that I am sure they did not accidentally leave in the locker room. Also, they didn't lose like GRC, they defeated GRC then continued to play until the final day of the basketball post season. I am sure the GRC players would have much rather lost by 20 to Shelby Valley in the state semis, than watched the game 10 rows up in the stands.

  14. I was there for every Mason game as always and even came back (a little down) for the title game..But your right there is a lot of fair weather Mason fans I will agree...

All schools have fair weather fans. Including other 10th region schools. Also, maybe Scott County's crowd was low, due to many in Georgetown feeling the crunch from the recent Toyota struggles. Alas, maybe some Mason fans are tired of Fred Hester swiping up all the good seats and handpicking who gets the tickets. I'll never understand, after all these years, why the students don't get first choice on seating. The kids are the backbone of the pep section.

  15. Maybe the $10 parking kept folks away.

This could have easily been avioded. I attended every session but 2 and never had to pay for parking. I may have had to walk a few extra blocks, but the weather was great, so I enjoyed the sunshine. The funny thing is that I actually parked for free on W Second Street, right next to a church lot that was charging 15 dollars to park. The parking attendant didn't look real happy about that, lol. I easily saved 60 dollars for the weekend, allowing more ice cream and soda, lol.
