Heyyyyyyyyyyyy:thumb: Fonzie would have said it differently.
I saw Potsie, Joanie and Ralph Malph at the game the other night. They wouldn"t let Chachie in.

What's not to love? Park Hills is a very nice and welcoming community. The Cov. Cath. campus is well lit, safe and has plenty of free parking (including Town and County's parking lot next door). The gym is from the 1950's but it is meticulously clean, well run and family friendly. Cov. Cath.'s hosting organization of faculity, staff, teachers, parents and police are second to none. The games last night were well attended. The crowd was enthusiastic but there was plenty of seating for both games. (The gym was filled 85%- give or take- to capacity). No one had to be in line for hours before the tip to get a seat. The gym was not emptied between games. No one was turned away. While Cov. Cath's gym is not as big as Holmes' (which, in my opinion, is also a great place to watch high school basketball) I would match the experience of attending a game at Cov. Cath. against any in the country.
As for the game, I agree that a defense that gets Ricardo and Elijah away from the basket is Cov. Cath's best hope to keep the game within striking distance. I would much rather have them putting up shots from beyond the arc, even considering the fact that both players can fill it up from the outside.
Enjoy the game Richie Cunningham.

Why they are playing this game in a rathole is beyond me.
-
Darn it. My Holmes Bulldogs always count on a win against them at Rupp.
-
Not only that, but you don't know what type of punishment Cousins had to go through at practice. I got a yellow card or two in my day playing high school soccer (the equivalent for a technical at times). I would get my butt chewed, put back in the game and then would have a great time at the next practice lol.
I thought this was a sports forum.

Someone needs to do an audit on those ping-pong balls. At least they switch it up and do upper bracket one year and lower bracket the next. LOL!
-
Newport is incredibly athletic and talented. On just the right night, does anyone else think we just might see them knock off Rico, Elijah and company, and find themselves in Rupp Arena?
No, Richmond should be their goal.

Some times the "bullies" (traditional basketball powers) get hit in the mouth and don't like it; may even feel threatened! EC had a storybook season (or 3) and got some national notoriety that many bigger schools have never gotten. Obviously, it didn't sit well!
Thanks for punching us Bulldogs in the mouth at Rupp.:laugh:

I belive Holmes will have something to prove this game and will not lose back to back on their home court. I think the Dogs will win this one by more than 15 and show why they are the defending state champs and number one in the area. Listerman should have a good game plan though after being at the Princeton/Holmes game scouting in the stands.
To bad he doesn't have the talent Princeton has.
-
GRC should be up there. Heck they beat a team the other night by 55. That is how we should measure teams by margin of victory, it worked out so well for Elliott County last year. I know that will help them in the Cantrell rankings as well which are also very accurate.:popcorn:
-
Cantrell is obviously biased with Lexcath at #4 and Lafayette at #8. Lexcath might not even be a top 10 team, let alone top 5.
Clark Co at #16 and Eastern at #18 is a joke and Boone just lost by 17 to Seneca but yet they're rated at #10 ahead of Seneca.
Just goes to show why Cantrell and Litkenhous ratings are horrible and a waste of space by the papers who publish them.
It is the best Mr. Cantrell can do. His expense account obviously doesn't allow him outside of New Circle Road.:laugh:
-
These rankings were very accurate last year, lol.:laugh: I think they had two teams in the top 10 that didn't make it to Rupp and four teams ranked ahead of Holmes heading into Rupp. Way to much emphasis on margin of victory, i.e. Elliott County last year. Lot of good all those points for their starters and very limited playing time for their bench did them come Sweet Sixteen time. BGP rankings a little more accurate even though it is all a crap shoot sometimes.
-
Princeton is ranked 1st in the Cincy poll on the enquirer's site. It shows they lost twice in Ironton Classic invite tourney by 15 and 21 points. Anyone know who they played?
Beware of us Princeton Vikings!!

Tough to play 4 games in 4 days. Regardless of the score, nice showing from both teams.
Conner you hung with a more athletic team in Newport and put yourself in position to win the game.
&
Newport way to bounce back after a tough loss, and not play your best and still get the "W."
Four games in four days didn't seem to bother the Bulddogs. If I remember correctly they played four games in three days last march and did okay as well.

Sounds like you can add Jake Thelen as a 9th Region POY Candidate. It's early, but nobody seems to have a clue how to stop him.
Two words Elijah Pittman.
-
The "natural disaster" you are referring to is known as "graduation losses."
One Hit Wonders like "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners. I miss ole Dale.
-
Was there a natural disaster in Eastern Kentucky? Elliott County and there fans seem to have fallen off the face of the earth.
-
Going into the 9th region tournament there will be several posts that will make a case that Boone, Highlands, Newport and even CovCath has a legit chance to make it to Rupp. They will contend that Holmes is not disciplined enough or that they lost too much from last year's team. Some may even contend that henley doesn't know what he is doing and simply has superior talent and that is why Holmes wins. In the end the Bulldogs will make it four in a row on there way to another strong run at the state title. See you at Rupp, go Dawgs.
-
It is only December, lets back track a little.
2006/2007 9th region champs state semi-finals, lost to state champs.
2007/2008 9th region champs state finals
2008/2009 9th region champs state champs
I think Dave Henley knows what he is doing, enough said. See you at Rupp in March, I already made three nights of hotel reservations. Go Dawgs.

I have seen hundreds of Holmes games and I think a shot block record may have been set last night. I think this was the difference in the game. Does anyone have stats on how many blocked shots Holmes had? I give Newport credit they kept going inside and their shots kept going back out. Pittman was a beast.
-
Holmes hasn't played uptempo since 1980.
-
You are right. I'm sure he just distributes uniforms and rolls the ball out and tells them to have at it. The 5 losses over the last two years are all on him.
I hope he gets out coached all the way to Lexington again this year. John Wooden was terrible as well.
-
Euton couldn't start or Holmes much less D1.
-
Overconfidence will be Holmes Lex Luther next year, overcoming themselves will be their task.

Jimmy Chitwood: I play, coach stays. He goes, I go.
Coach Norman Dale: Strap, God wants you on the floor.
Wilbur 'Shooter' Flatch: Alright, boys, this is the last shot we got! We're gonna run the picket fence at 'em! Jimmy, you're solo right! Everett, Merle should be open on the other side of that fence! Now, boys, don't get caught watchin' the paint dry!
