  1. I will admit I am not completely in the know on this topic and don't have "reliable" sources, but I heard it was down to Ryle and Cooper and Cooper was the pick. Again, just a rumor that I heard, no idea on the truth of the matter. Good luck to the young man wherever he ends up.

Just to ask though, why is that an interesting choice? Cooper has built something very special this year and only graduate 8 kids and only 4 of them played. A team full of young kids that made the state semi final game.

    Cooper graduates 13 this year.

  2. How many of those 13 were suited to start their first year of Varsity?

I wish they all could get a ton of playing time. If having a body to put on the field is the recipe to success then please explain why so many players on teams with 80 or so players on the team still don't see the field through their first couple years on varsity until their senior year, if that.

Never said any of them were. You keep saying there were only 6 sophomores on the roster last year. That is incorrect.

  3. I'm at practice now and don't have the official numbers but am counting in the low 40s for players.

Last year I just looked at a roster dor state and there were 12 but realistically with the ones that didn't quit or weren't hurt the entire year they had 8 or 9 maybe.

In contrast I'd be curious how many players are on HHS roster etc. I know Ryle has something like 80 almost twice as much Cooper.

You all can talk about a 5A school should always platoon but you can only play with the ones that come out.

How many schools in the area only have 45 healthy players?

Started the season with 13, ended with 11. One injured, one ineligible.

  4. Yes, you said they can't and I get that. You said they should put their best athletes on the field at all times. Here you are saying otherwise and making it sound like Borchers has a choice. Does he or doesn't he? Your posts last week suggested he didn't have a choice.

    He has a choice.

  5. It will change I would guess in a couple years. The union jags are only 3 years old and we are already seeing dividends pay off. This is the first year that those players could play varsity and we already seen the number of sophs jump from 6-8 last year to over 20 this year. I would guess it will continue on that pace in

Btw their are 6a schools in this county that still platoon. It's not like its a rarity.

There were 13 sophomores on the roster last year - not 6 or 8.

  6. They do because they don't have the numbers and athletes yet to platoon.

For instance last year they only had 6 sophomores come out. So you have to wait until you have the numbers to platoon. The next couple years should be much better, I think they had something like 20 sophomores come out this year and should have similar next year and that is how they need to build to start leaning toward platooning.

I would guess in about 4 years they will be leaning that way a lot more than having players go both ways.

Actually there were 13 sophomores on the roster last season.

Now im going to ask this again, can Cooper put up atleast 50 or 60 points?

Looks like 40 pts was all Cooper needed!!

  8. This was the first game of a double header with Boone. I'm sure a much closer game than anyone expected as with most of the other Cooper games this season.

Defense played well for both teams. Cooper left many runners on base. They left bases loaded twice. A couple of strategic hits and this could have been very different result. Congratulations to Tyler Ramey for the first home run for Cooper Baseball.

Keep playing hard Jags! You've given yourself a chance in every game so far. All the hard work and determination will pay off SOON!!
