Minges is the girl from Henry County that made it.
-
yes that is correct, the 8th region is at Simon Kenton. The lady who predicted the region winners predicted that Bullitt East would win the 8th region and Bullitt East is not in the 8th region.

Agreed. The only thing I would add is that I think there are four teams that stand out, instead of three. South Oldham is possibly the most dangerous team in the 8th once the tournament begins. Their length/speed make them a very tough out. However, I think any of the 8 teams there are very capable of winning a game. When is the last time you could say that?!
I agree with you about South, they are very dangerous. Their defense is very good but their shooting is questionable. I think the other 3 have been more consistent throughout the year where as South has been up and down. I agree, any team can get a win in the regional tourney. I can't remember the last time you had these many teams that had a legit chance of beating each other on any given night. The great part about is that most of these teams are young.

The top 3 teams in the 8th Region are Simon, Anderson County, and Walton. Simon and Walton are the top 2 in the 32nd, Anderson and Shelby in 30th district, South Oldham and Oldham County in the 29th district, Owen and Gallatin County in the 31st district but with the 31st, everyone has beaten everyone so there is no easy win in that district or the games have been really close.
-
Final from Bedford. Gallatin wins despite not shooting well from the field. They did shoot well from the line. Trimble County is a much improved team and plays very hard.
-
South Oldham's press gave Carroll fits. They turned it over a lot and they didn't shoot well from the floor. South Oldham's defense was definitely the key in this game.

Brooke Hill finished with 30 points and 20 rebounds. She scored 29 of her 30 points in the 2nd half. Great job to the team for battling back and beating Oldham at their own game.

Congrats to Henry Co. I was surprised to see Owen lose back to back district and home games. How much did Gayheart play?
-
Congrats to her. A great competitor.
-
Good game by both teams. It was back and forth throughout the game with Henry having the lead at half. Carroll just hit a few more shots. Like Lunatic said, a lot of 3's on both sides. Carroll did a good job doubling ball screens especially in the 2nd half. It looks like the 31st district is wide open and it depends on who decides to show up on what night. Every team is 1-1 in district play. Every win has been on the road.

Although South has struggled out of the game against brutal competition, this isn't a big surprise at all.
South's team - mostly sophomores, with just two seniors on the squad - could be frighteningly good by the end of the year.
I agree with you, don't get me wrong. Just figured Highlands would win because they were another tough team for South Oldham. I was just surprised.
-
I was surprised to hear about this score. I thought South Oldham would keep it close but I thought Highlands would be too tough. Very nice win for SO after struggling out the gates.
-
Sounds like a great game. Good luck to both teams throughout the season. I guarantee the next time they meet it will be another close game judging by this outcome.
-
Neither team looked great offensively. Both teams played hard but looked tired. Usually if you are not scoring it is either outstanding defense or you have no legs. Owen did a great job of not letting Devine get loose.

Let me tell you something nationofdomination you seem to know nothing at all. I am not worried about the coach could care less. I simply asked a question about the program and nobody can answer it for me, you must know her well uh? Not sure if you have ever been to a game at the high school level but you CAN hear coaches in the stands quit kidding yourself.
Just since you brought up the coach, I know enough about the program to say that there are not many compliments made to the players. Care to argue that one?
Well, isn't the program ran by the coach? So you must of been talking about the coach whether it was direct or not. A program begins with the head coach. You said yourself that you saw them a few times last year, so how close can you be to the program to know if there are compliments or not?
-
Let me tell you something Nationofdomination that game was not won on coaching.
So coaching had nothing to do with which game, the state or All A Region? You don't think preparation or calling time outs at crucial times had anything to do with it. how do you know so much about the program and whether players recieve compliments or not? Are you on the staff or at practice every day or every game?

Former Boone County point guard Jacy Bradley got the first start of her college carreer for St. Louis U. against Evansville and responded with a 15 point performance that included 3-4 from three.
Bradley was getting increasing playing time prior to her first start and is averaging 7.9 points per game, playing an average of 22.6 minutes per game, and is shooting a team best 47.8% from three. She was named Team Player of the Week following her performance against Evansville.
Jacy also has the best assist to turnover ratio on the team at 23/14. Pretty impressive stuff for a true freshman 8 games into her college career!
Keep up the good work Jacy!!! :thumb:
Congrats to her. Sounds like she is doing really well.

Ludlow is definitely hurting without their point guard who went down early this season. She makes everything go in their offense. Good win Villa.

I haven't seen Simon play yet this year but Walton is very good. I know Simon returns experience but they lost a lot off of last year's team. I can't make a prediction either way because I have not seen Simon play but I'm sure it will be a good one. Walton will be hurting a little with 2 subs out but will still be very strong.
-
Close Relation?
No, it just makes me mad when someone criticizes a coach after they have won some kind of title whether it is a district, All A Region, or Regional title. I hear about it all the time and I just get tired of it. People seem to forget things really quick when things aren't "going" the way they think it should.
-
Walton is very good and is playing really good ball to start the season. They will be a contender for not only the All A Region but the Region itself.
-
still think something is going on. I know they are young but they seem that they are not working hard enough. Could this be due to the fact that the coach is always on them. Went to a few games last year and it seems the coach is always on their case. Dont hear too many kind words.
Any thoughts?
My thoughts are you need quit worrying about the coach, she did win the All A last year and won a game at the All A state. You can't even hear the coach in the stands. Obviously you know nothing about the program, Emily Jones is an impact player. The team has lost 4 starters, 3 to graduation, 1 to injury.
-
Simon Kenton better look out for Walton-Verona who is in their district and is very good. Simon may not even be top in their own district.
