  1. I went to the Rowan Greenup game. Planck threw well. Greenup scored on multiple errors in 1st inning. One hard hit ball the whole game. What Greenup can do is play defense. Shoupe behind he plate keeps runners in check. Middle infield makes all routine plays and the outfield can move. Very solid team. No one throws much over 80 but keeps ball down and defense will field and throw em out.

  2. No one should have to post any email to "clear" up East Carter's name...To imply that somehow the principal, athletic director, or basketball coach at East Carter would lie, so as to avoid playing another team, or to improve their chances of advancement is below petty, and I feel should call for a ban from BGP...Their should never be a copy of something to placate neanderthals like yourselves who bottom feed for any info to feed your incredible amounts of jealousy and hate...Some of YOU are the reason that sportsmanship has died....Not coaches trying to better the situations of their players. Go Raiders! Good luck Coach Baker against who ever you play, you, regardless of what is said on here are one classy individual and I am glad you represent all of us Raiders!

Jealosy and hate? No jealosy in fair play. Kids are involved here, and as long as the rules and regulations set forth by the 62nd district are abided by , I have no problem with that. My response was to go radio about a statement he made concerning emails to KHSAA not an attack on anyones character. Everyone wants the same fair chance for their child to advance to the regional tourny. If no coaches are trying to better the situation, why email the KHSAA at all? Of both coaches are trying to better their situation. If BGP would like to ban me it would only help me quit wasting time responding to such posts. My comments have been fair.

  3. NOBODY lied, a clarification was asked as to what was a tournament. Is a "showcase" a tournament? Is a "classic" a tournament. All that was asked for by the KHSAA was what was a tournament. Nothing else. I guess GW thinks he is back in the White House and his intelligence reports are still inaccurate. No weapons of mass destruction in the East Carter emails.

Are you privy to the East Carter email to the KHSAA? If so post it and clear up their name if that was all that was written.

  4. But, when the new by-laws were written when Morgan Co. joined the district, wasn't the spirit of the tiebreaker-in regards to point differential, to be between the teams tied, whether or not it was 2, 3 or 4, and just uncorrectly written by Morgan Co. at the time (since they did host the first tournament in realigned district)?

In an article in the ADI, Morgan Co. AD was quoted as saying, “I say we leave it in the hands of the kids,” Trusty said. But with everything that has taken place, how can that comment be justified. Point Differential tiebreaker allowed the kids to settle it on the floor, but was thrown out because of two team argument. Playing the rest of the games through the week would let the kids settle it, but was turned down by MC. And while not confirmed, a matchup between the tow teams would have let the players settled it, but was supposedly shot down.

All this leads to a coin flip. And how does that allow it to be left in the hands of the kids?

You are exactly right, I hope they play.

  5. I still do not see the home cooking angle. East Carter did not make the decision, the KHSAA did. There was no tie breaker system for three teams according to our newest member. It seems funny that all of the other schools knew the intent of the rule was to break any tie except for Morgan County. They also refused a playoff game to decide it. I suppose they feel their best shot at going to the Regional lies in a coin toss and not competition. Go Radio is exactly right...sportsmanship has died.

The home cooking angle is asking for a clarification on something that isn't a tourny game. I would think something was misunderstood by the KHSAA or they wouldn't have changed their ruling. If East is so confident to play now, step up and play Elliott. If Morgan or East of West plays Elliott and its done according to what was instituted by the 62nd, I have no problem with that. The problem lies when situations are manipulated for one teams advantage.

  6. Obituary

Sportsmanship – Beginning of Athletic Competition – February 11, 2009

Sportsmanship died today. The cause of the death is not certain, however greed and pride are prime suspects. The sense of teamwork, respect, responsibility and perspective that high school athletics are supposed to promote was replaced with selfishness, disrespect, blame and did I mention selfishness? In a gathering full of rancor and self promotion, sportsmanship was trampled by fear of opponents and promotion of semantics. Sportsmanship and the positive values it tried to promote, fell by the wayside as men gathered in a small room with the sole purpose of forcing their agendas and desires on the student athletes of others.

Sportsmanship is survived by a shimmer of fair play displayed by some. There are those who wanted sportsmanship to live and tried to resuscitate, and sportsmanship was revived a few times, but the death blow actually came a couple of hours after the gang that killed sportsmanship dismissed from the small room to gather in small hamlets to plot sportsmanship’s death.

Memorial services will be held for sportsmanship February 23-27 across the 62nd District. Official services will be held at the Harold L Holbrook Athletic Complex East. The Right Most High Reverend of 62nd District Basketball will preside while others carry out portions of the service in their own way. Fans will no doubt bury sportsmanship several times through the week and the carnage will probably continue for weeks to come.

Friends may also visit at Ellis T Johnson Arena, Diddle Arena and Rupp Arena during the month of March. Basketball coaches and AD’s across the state are in charge of arrangements.

I beg to differ sir. Sportsmanship died long ago. Have you heard fans cheer against other players , not cheer for their teams? Have you seen parents ejected from games due to threats to officials. Have you seen things thrown onto floor? Fights? Coaches face down referee's? All these things are accepted as part of the game, and that is ok if you see it that way,but are all loss of sportsmanship. This instance was a case of strict rules intrepretation due to poor wording by the 62nd district. If Morgan's fate is determined by tipping it up or a coin flip, I would imagine the people of the 62 would be fine with that in comparison to being "pencil whipped" into a game, due to a "clarification" that was rightfully overturned. (IMO)

  7. Okay sportsfans, let's make this make sense in my feeble head. Hairspray sometimes makes things soak in slower.

The first tiebreaker was point differential if 2 teams tied.

    However three were tied.

Next tiebreaker was winning percentage excluding tournaments.

East and Morgan tied, thus a coin flip

East then called the KHSAA and got a 2day event they were in ruled a tournament.

However, to my knowledge the definition of a tournament means you can advance, and unless I'm mistaken, East couldn't advance.

So, in this old goat's opinion, Morgan will fight this deal. Not sure much can or will be done, but I suppose this ain't the last we've heard on this one.

    Only in America, baby!

    My point exactly.l.... Home Cookin

  8. A definition of what constitutes a tournament game was requested and received. Morgan apparently didn't like the KHSAA's clarification as I am sure East and West didn't care for Morgan County ignoring the intent of the tie-breaker rules by insisting it applied only if two teams were tied. There was no "home cooking." The KHSAA decided the question. Live with it. The rule regarding won-loss percentage was ridiculous anyway. It promotes weak scheduling.

I 'm sure East cared, but why would West ? They would be either 2 or 3. I think they would rather play Morgan on a neutral floor, than East on their home court. I am willing to live with the decision because suicide would be my only other choice.

  9. No "home cooking". A clarification was asked for, just as Morgan Co asked for a clarification of the 2nd tie-breaker. How was that "home cooking"?

How do you throw out a showcase? I would imagine the wording in the clarifcation is your "home cookin." Don King that was funny, I don't care who you are!!!!

  10. East came out ready to play tonight. They played with a lot of intensity from start to finish. Not sure of the stats but East had a balanced scoring attack, with all 5 starters in double figures. East got BIG play from Caleb Adams and Connor Robinson, when Bair got into foul trouble. Good passing, tight defense, and team work were the keys in tonight's win.

    Great Job Raiders!!!!

Barnhill had seven, 4 of 5 in double fig.

  11. no one slapped the floor, the player said something to the ref. Coldiron has been showed down all year by players and officials. Coach Baker showed him down at the end of the first half, and nothing happened with a T. How do you call that with a two possession game with such high intensity. Coldiron loves to make calls that put him at the center of attention. This was not the reason West lost, poor transition defense and the game was extremely physical. With 16th region officiating , usually this game is spent at the free throw line.
