  1. I think that the basketball team will be fighting the same battles this season with the loss of Watts and Co. I mean Radier Rob could not win a region with them, what will the PC (Politically Connected) coach be able to do without them. I only say this because we all know that he would love to see the football team not to have success so that he could get those athletes to play BB.
Don't know how basketball became part of this but Raider Rob does support football and there are 9 football players that play basketball as well.
  2. Like i said it was a good post unt you put your 100-0 remark. The score shows that it was a tough one for the Raiders. You are right about the past being just that, the past, we need to move forward an respect what was accomplished the last two years and get behind these young men that are representing this county. I think the team played hard Friday night but they were up against a great team. Hopefully you won't have to be real upset with the next game when the Raiders play.

  3. You would know about the 100-0 possible scores because you have been behind the wheel of many of these kinds of games. Not a bad post until you put the 100 -0 part, very classy.

People need to take notice of this Knox Central Team. They beat McCreary Central in every aspect of the game. This was ugly and could have been much worse. Like 100-0.:ohbrother::isurrender:
  4. Believe as you wish but the award is a joke if Sewell doesn't win it.

Even in tonight's loss, he scores 26 against BALLARD. That's not East Ridge- that's Ballard.

Justice plays in the 7th, he's in a crowd behind Sewell with T. Jackson, K. Jones and others. Good player, but not as good this season as Sewell!

If Sewell does not win you could make up an award to make hime the Platinium winner like the ice skater from Russia did after the Olympics.

  5. First of all, I am a fan of the All 'A' Classic but you can't count that as a state title. It's a nice tournament win for Justice and his team.

But I would say that would rank behind winning the King of the Bluegrass, the Lexington Catholic Tournament or the LIT.

I'd say Justice has had a sensational career but I'm not sure how you can argue against the statement that Sewell has been the best senior in the state this season. He's played against one of the toughest schedules and has his team as one of the best in the state with a long winning streak.

IMO, case is closed. But again, the best player doesn't always win the award!

Aaron Watts has played against some of the toughest competition in the state this year and has shined on each occasion. McCreary is one of the top 20 in the state this year. Watts would be just as deserving as Sewell or Justice. IMO, I would not take either of the other two for Watts when you compare their all around games. They are both excellent and deserving if they win the award, but to say that if someone besides Sewell wins Mr. Basketball that they are not deserving to win this title is wrong.

  6. It was a great match up of two very good point guards for both teams. I liked the fire and enthusiasm that Wilson for Corbin plays with. It is not cocky or taunting towards the other team at all. He looks as though he is having fun and getting his team fired up when he gets excited. Good luck to Corbin the rest of the season and post season.

  7. Before the game some Corbin fans said that they were 13th region.

I thought the first half was well called. I do not know if Coach P. would not let the refs ride the bus back home if they did not change the way they called the game:lol:JK. At one point of the 2nd half the foul shots were 30 - 9 in favor of Corbin. And this was the only way they stayed in the game. That is my rant about the officials now I will praise the sportsmanship showed by both teams towards each other throughout the game. Both teams have quality coaches on the sideline.

  8. I would agree on the last play. I don't think the Anderson player was fouled on the miss free throw. But if your trying to tell me the kid from Anderson carried the ball you had to have on Raider glasses.

Raiders have a nice club, but fact is they struggled scoring against Anderson. I would also agree Anderson has trouble shooting the ball. These 2 teams could make it to the state tournament but honestly both teams have a weaknesses. Anderson is good inside and MC is good on the outside.

I guess I do have Raider tinted glasses, but I still think he did carry the ball (especially since it gave the ball back to the Raiders). The raiders had not struggled that bad to score this season. The pace had them very frustrated, this is totally attributed to Andrsons defense and gameplan. They are very well coached. Good luck the rest of the year Papa Pigskin.

  9. Lowest score of the season, by a big margin.

With that said, I did not attend this game but I did hear from a few people that McCreary probably didn't deserve to win this one, whether it was their play, the officiating, or a combination of both.

Either way, they did and they continue to move forward.

I was not referring to you saying that they did not deserve to win but the few people that told you they did not deserve to win. Meant no slight to you as a Raider fan. It was an ugly game but that is the only way Anderson could keep the game managelable to put themselves in a place to win, they are well coached and athletic just seemed to have a tough time shooting.

  10. I agree with Banker. It was definitely a carry. He put the ball on his hip, it was very clear that he did put the ball on his hip and it was the correct call. It does not matter at what point of the game it happens it was a good call. The officials were average but it in no way decided the outcome of the game. There was no foul on the play at the end when timout was called. Anderson called timeout and did not get a shot off to end the game.

  11. Central was worn down by the intense defensive pressure from Scott Co. Alot of missed opportunities by Central but alot of that can be attributed to the Cardinals, except the huge amount of missed free throws for the raiders. The Cardinals are the best team that I have seen this year to date. Hopefully the Raiders will learn from this experience and contiunue getting better for when it really matters.

  12. I couldn't disagree more. The 12th region will not be a cake walk. Mercer has already proven to be capable of beating McCreary(by 3 points, I was there). Wayne County then beat Mercer County(by 4 points). McCreary has beaten Wayne County(by 22 points!!!!). Both have beaten West Jessamine as has Lincoln County, but Lincoln County lost to East Jessamine(by 10 points!!!!!) who has already been beaten by West Jessamine by 17 points I think. I failed to mention other teams capable of beating these teams and they too will emerge, but the point of my post is to say that the 12th region is wide open. All the teams that make the tourney will be capable of winning it, just like West did last year.

I do think McCreay is the best team in the region right now, on Dec. 1st they were not. You are 100% correct on the region being wide open come tournament time. When you are dealing with high school kids many factors come into play and anything can happen in high school sports.

  13. Exactly my point, some of the other regions are so stacked. It's really hard to rank high school basketball teams. No one really gets to see everyone.
Do the wins against Seneca, Hazard, and Male in Lexington not show that they can compete with and beat some really talented teams from across the state. I think the top 20 rating is very well deserved at this point.
  14. Watts 27 pts Roark 14 that is 41 of 70 scored aganist Mercer that is better than 50% :ylsuper::ylsuper: case closed I'll quit posting on this subject. Good Luck to the Raider Football and Basketball Team. I go to most games in both sports.:isurrender:
I guess this is the second time that you are not going to talk about this topic. Congratulations to Aaron Watts on his all district selection. It is good to see players be rewarded for hard work and dedication. I will agree with Banker of the South and say that the coaching award was a nice parting gift.

It is sad to see you are so envious of the basketball program. I will remind you that this is a football board. With all your knowledge of basketball you should join in or start a thread on the basketball board..

  15. I didn't start this Argement. But I's dare say I probally know more about Basketball than you do. You are always the one who brags about how much is put into every program and how everything is equal is sports in McCreary Co. You got to be blind if you can't see the difference. The Basketball team couldn't beat anyone without those 2 players . I'll shut up and let it go at that.:deadhorse:

I am pointing out the fact that you always drag basketball into a football discussion and you down the basketball program. All sports teams in McCreary are treated equal. The football stadium does need some updates but they have a very nice fieldhouse and the football field is in excellent shape. There is a weight room, practice field etc. What else do you want from the administration that you so despise?

We will hopefully not find out what the basketball team would do without those 2 players becasuse they have a great TEAM assembled and with hard work they will have a successful season. Would the football team have won a game without those 2 players? We will never know. Thankfully we do not live in the hypothetical world that you would like to live in. No one is challenging your vast knowledge of basketball. You are the one that needs to quit beating a dead horse and support all programs in the district.

  16. They are both great players in both sports. Let's see 5 play in BB and 11 play in football. I guess what I'm trying to say without these 2 players BB would have a hard time beating Avg. teams much less being one of the best teams in the region. I'll go on and say they will Avg. over 50% OF THE POINTS SCORED THIS SEASON. I guess Basketball will have to cancle next season when these 2 Move on. I think Football will feel the pain, but believe me Basketball will feel the pain also. I just hope they hurry up and hire a Coach so whoever it is can start a WT. Program. Again Conj: to McCreary Central Football and Coach Gay and Staff. OH! By the way he has been invited to be an Asst.Coach for the Ky. All Stars in the Border Bowl. He also was voted Coach of the year in 4A Dist. 7

Why do you always have to compare the football team with the basketball team at MCHS, this is a football board. The two players will not average more than 50% of the points for the basketball team (this shows what you know about basketball around you). That is the difference in the two programs; basketball has developed other players so they will be a complete team with several scoring options on their team, and no they will not feel the pain as much as you would like.:idunno:

  17. I agree with everything you said, even next year they can be competitive, the key here is will the Administration hire the right person and will they finally fund Football the way it should be funded? We will have to waite and see on all points. Everyone in McCreary Co. knows Football has never been a priority.:taz:

I do not think that everyone feels the same as you do about how things are funded with the sports programs in the county. I think that every sports team would always like to have more. It is what you do on the field or court that counts. Many teams have done more with less. Quit whining about the football team always being shorted by the administration. Who do you think would be the right person should be for the job OLD wise one?:madman:
