Good victory over the Mustangs but even with the win, the young Colonels missed far too many easy bunnies to make me happy.
Coach Stevens entered a line-up in the third quarter, that I think you just might be seeing in the future a lot with Heppler, Sweeney, Young, Flood and Lenof, with Beck, Massie, Schrand and McGiness coming in off the bench.......nice...

With the victory, CovCath Frosh improve to 15-7 and next plays Covington Holmes at CovCath on Tuesday January 22, in the second game of a double header at 7pm.
I have been led to believe that the CovCath JV will host the St. Henry JV in the first game of the night in the first round of the JV tourney.

Not exactly a representative product out there last night. No Trentman. Burns, Saunders, Hackworth sick and Saunders busted up (did not even play final seven minutes). Coach Code on the shelf. Throw in foul trouble........
We are happy to win and move on in this one. Happy for our guys who came from off the bench and stepped up last night. You have to appreciate Jennings defensive work on Monroe, and our overall team defense.Best thing that happens now to our Mustangs is that we get a few days off to rest up, recover, and rejuvenate. Will be ready to go next week in the "A".
And he still had 20. I know he scored most of them late. I believe he only had 4 in the first half.

There was a 5 seconds call on Holy Cross while the Holy Cross player (I think it was M. McClendon) was dribbling across the top of the frontcourt and Brossart had switched defenders a few times. Very bad call.
The rule states that a 5 second call can be made even if the defenders switch, as long as the distance between the offensive player and the defender is maintained. That being said, during that play, the distance may not have been maintained. Tough call.

Let's see so far Brossart is 12-3 which is the best record in the 10th and would be top 3 in 9th Region. We beat the team, Owen Co., with the best record in the 8th. We beat Number 5 ranked Manual, beat Ryle, beat Mason County. Finished 4-0 in Distirct beating Campbell Co. by 15, Scott by 25, Calvary by 41 and Silver Grove by 66. Brossart is undefeated (6-0) in Region, undefeated (4-0) in District and earned top seed. They finished 3-1 in a tough Christmas Tourney losing only to the number 2 ranked team in the state Anderson County. They have scored 866 points while allowing just 623 while playing probably the best schedule of any tenth region team. Coach Feldmann is now 56-21. As Joe Friday used to say on Dragnet "Just the facts, just the facts."
Why gloat and put a bull's eye on your back? I am sure the only facts that anyone really looks for are championships. Brossart just needs to continue to focus on winning district, regional, and "A" championships. District wins are great for seeding purposes. But really, the other games are all about getting better and setting up your post-season runs, win or loss.

Saunders was suffering with some back issues during the second half. Didn't see many minutes during the entire half.HC did a really good job guarding Justin Saunders. Don't remember hearing his name in the entire second half. -
I think it would be great if UK and UC could battle it out every year. It would be interesting for fans in Northern Kentucky. How does everyone else feel?
-
Not sure about the others but I believe they have to play Beechwood now because they are in the same conference.
Correct

The assistants for Brossart should take the blame in my opinion. On a regular basis you will see an assistant confer with the scorers table asking about how many timeouts one has, when one is taken by a team. Often times they will check to see how many the other team has, especially late. Total breakdown in coaching.
Brossart seemingly started the year playing pretty well but seemingly lost their mojo the last quarter of the season.
I assure you that all of the assistant coaches have taken responsibility for the timeout as well as coach code. Credit the camels for their ability to fight back and take the lead when it mattered. The stangs have struggled to hang onto leads this year and for the better part of the night, we had a lead above 7 or at 7. Could not close the deal.

I'm scratching my head also.:idunno: Otherwise great post Mustang
Basically, I am guessing, he means there is no way he should have made that shot. He had as good of a chance of making it as a dead man??
-
Good game for the camels. Guess the bright spot for Brossart is that the freshman and JV both won by 20+ points
-
Brossart win by 4 AND holds McGovney to 18 points.
This is truely a compliment to McGovney. Holding someone to 18 points! Most players are luck to score that many points once or twice a year!
-
If you can't be there, you can listen in on bmustangs.com. The broadcast will be a little "painted green".
Usually is! But if you can not be there, you can still here the roar of the crowd through the radio! Should be fun for both sides!

Mustangs improve to 7-0 winning 79-19 led by Sophomore Alex Trentman with 14. Twelve Mustangs score. Junior varsity now 6-0. They win 49-21. Freshmen even record at 5-5 beating both Calvary Christian and Simon Kenton
The Freshman actually improve to 4-5 record. Not quite back to .500

There is an awful lot to be positive about right now for the lady rebels. Also things to positive about for a reemerging lady mustangs program. Fun game to watch.

Well if one wants to see this game they should've bought tickets last year. I think the gym only holds a couple hundred people. Holmes rolls in the junior high gym Brossart plays in. And yes I am bitter that I have missed some top match-ups b/c the gym is tiny.
It truely is a unique atmosphere that many gyms can not match!

He passed the ball really well.
Curious as to how many assists he had. Maybe he accounted for more like 60 - 70% of team points
-
I like Scott to win after a dissappointing loss to Holmes. They will come back with fire in their eyes and ice water in their veins. PC will be rusty in early part of their first game.

Very interested to see both of these teams play in the future. If Paris can compete with Mason, they may be able to make some noise in the "A" classic???
-
Looks like the Bulldogs are going to be a tough out at the freshman level. Holmes plays Brossart Saturday at 5pm at Brossart. Brossart may have their hands full. Should be a good test to see where Brossart stands with what appears to be a top team in the 9th
-
McGovney with 37 tonight. Kid is a player and is very competitive. Boone will create matchup problems with the three-headed PG. 33rd will be interesting this year.
WOW! 37! 52% of teams points. If your stat is correct. Looks like if you can stop one man, the rest of the team has to pick up an awful lot of points!
-
Curious about stats. Good win for Boone. Who played well for each team?
-
Can anyone give updates who is at the game?
-
Any relation to Tyler Verst who was Brossart's ace pitcher for baseball in 2008? Just curious.
I believe 2nd or 3rd Cousin.

Good teams find ways to win despite bad shooting nights. No doubt about it, NCC is a great team

Crawford played but did not appear to be at full strength. Seemed to be a little sluggish after getting over cold/flu symtoms
