Best Memories: Two (2) TD's and over 100 yards in rushing from the sophisticated guard position (FB) against Evarts in the rain at the Evarts mud-bowl. Friday Night locker room (pregame). Saturday game days and starting as a True Freshman in college. ~ one more ~ even though they won, (13-7), in two quarters at the grid) playing "The Cawood Trojans" for the first time after not getting to play them for 20 plus years. The crowd was something to see. The good ol days!
Worst Memories: Loosing to Freddie Maggard and the Redskins on the last game I played at Green Dragon Field and this was one of them darn sub-district games when only one team came out of the sub-district.

IMO, Harlan has a great oppurtunity to win Friday but Pikeville is not going to roll over and play dead, just as others has mentioned. They know how to win late in the season, but I must say I have seen the Dragons play equal with some good 5A schools late in the season. Their team is finally jelling together and they definitely are getting that Football swagger and if they take that attitude to Pikeville and play smart hard nosed football, then I really do believe they can come home with the win.
Give them all they want and then some BIG GREEN!!!

Good job last Friday night Black Bears. It says a lot to have only two teams in our county and both are in round 2 of the playoffs. I hope both are successful again this friday night and I'll take the Black Bears in an upset.
HC ~21
BC ~20
BIG defensive stand from the Black Bears.

The HHS Green Dragons should have some swagger in their step this morning for what they done Friday night. Way to go "BIG GREEN"!

I like the playoff system. If the problem is winless teams in the playoffs, then don;t let them play. Let the #1 seed have an open week. But let the #2/#3 play. There have been a lot of good #2 verse #3 match ups that makes for good Friday night high school football.

Glad to see some Allen Central supporters on this thread but I think HHS will take this one. Home field may just be the very difference in this game. It's going going to be a good one. GO DRAGONS GO!!

Should be a great round 1 game!
-
I admire those young men for wearing pink tonight for breast cancer awareness. I hope they (PCC) reach their goal on money proceeds tonight. I am sure it will be a great game against the visiting Harlan Green Dragons.
GO BIG GREEN!

The Green Dragons will win this one!

Good job Black Bears!

I have seen both the Jackets and Wildcats over the last two weeks, if the Wildcats has a good condition week and use their big men up front, I will take the Wildcats in this one.

MAN! How unfortunate! Sorry to hear this news Bronco. May the Lord bless him. You guys are a great bunch. Best wishes from here in Harlan.
Yes, best wishes for a speedy recovery from us at the Green Dragons. I hate to hear of such an injury, hope he gets well soon.

In all honesty, after the fact, with all I had heard about the Dragons, I really did not expect what I saw. I expected a bad team without much execution or leadership. I kind of expected a team that was going through the motions of a bad year. BUT:
They gave us a fight and all we wanted.
They are a good football team. You can tell they are young, but they do a lot of things right. Next year could be a good year for Dragon football if they hang in there and have a good winter. The starting QB was out and the backup did his job well. The RBs looked good and they were able to move the ball in spurts. As some of these kids progress, it appears that they could do some things in the next couple of years. Harlan is just in a down cycle and is improving. Happens to all of us "A" schools. Good luck the rest of the way!:thumb::thumb::thumb:
Thanks for your honesty. Lynn Camp looks as though they could make a little noise in the post season, Good Luck Campers!

Keep your heads up Dragons, your young team is maturing and soon you will have that Dragon swagger back! (As previously mentioned). The last two games you have played has been all from the heart.
Great match up! (HHS and LCHS) I also agree that we need to keep this one going. It seems like it has always been a close game when these two play. Does anybody know the standings between the two schools? I know they have been playing a long.

It's gameday! So come on to Green Dragon Field. If you win, so be it. No crying here, never have and never will! :fight:

Well I understand how everyone feels about losses and I did play ball in high school and lost a total of 8 ballgames in 4 years. In my opinion winning is a habit just as much as losing and winning also builds characters. It seems to me that the teams that take more losses use the losses as a excuse but in my high school losses were never exceptable by no means. It don't sound good when people make excuses for losses we were always told you lose its not because of anything more than someone being better than you. There is no greater life lesson than saying we won the game because I worked harder than they did thats whats makes someone succesful.
Was football the game you played?
-
I believe the game with the Dragons might be a little tougher that what you guys think! But hey, just go right ahead and keeping thinking that. I love your over confidence.
-
The funny thing is that the ones that seem to take the most joy out of a situation like this have never played a down, so they in no way are able to understand what the life lessons are. If they did they might want to remember empathy for a fellow man, for when you choose not to,things have a way of turning around and you may find yourself or someone you care deeply for in the same type of situation.:irked:
Very good words. Because anyone who has ever strapped the gear on knows that some where out there amidst the summer heat, the fall rain and the cold nights that most young men find themselves and what they are made of while playing football and it doesn't matter what team they play for. So why someone would even judge these young men as winners or losers can only be someone who has never been under the Friday Night Lights or been there for Saturday Gamedays. These young men are winners already, simply because they choose to play.
-
Jackets? Jackets? Lynn Camp "Jackets"???? Doesn't even sound good put together.
Lynn Camp Wildcats.
Are you getting ahead of yourself, Ghostrider?
Yea, I thought about that after I left my post. I know you are the Wildcats. Blame it on Monday. And "no" it does not sound good when you put it together. My apologies to all the young men who are Wildcats.

We have Hazard in week 9.
We played Pineville in the Grid.
We'll be there in Harlan friday, so don't schedule a bus and driver just yet. I was kidding around.
If history holds true, it should be a good game. It seems as the Dragons and Jackets always get after one another. Hard hitting and never giving up. My kinda game. Can't wait. Ok, I guess they can tell the bus driver he can again take the night off.
-
We are 1-1 against 2A - 5A. We beat Leslie County and lost to Harlan County.
Lost to Campbellsville and beat both Clinton County and Dayton in 1 A ball.
What is Harlan's record against 1A this year?
I think I heard the bus probably won't get much further than the front gate at Lynn Camp then, so c'mon up.....
They lost to Hazard and beat Pineville and have not played any other 1A schools yet. And if need we be, I am sure the Dragons can come up if you can't for whatever reason make it down.
-
Only way that I see them beating Lynn Camp is if the bus brakes down heading up 119.
Don't worry "The Green Dragons" can meet them where ever their bus breaks down.

How is your record playing the bigger schools?
Corbin/Harlan Predictions

Corbin didn't show me much against Harlan County. I think if Harlan can contain some of the speed Corbin has, they should come out with a W. If you weren't at the scrimmage Harlan ran the ball pretty well. The line looked really good.
