  1. Dixie is beat up right now. Hatton left Campbell game, not sure he is playing, starting lineman out down to thier 6th string running back after an injury in the JV game so it all depends on who can play. After the way Dixie played against Campbell I can see SK's offense getting on the right track and maybe winning this game big

  2. First observation: Where was the crowd from Dixie? That might have been the smallest local 6A visiting school crowd I've ever seen at HHS in non-freezing weather. Not even a student section. I know they'd lost a couple games coming in to last night, but not a good reflection on the state of their program.

Next: Speaking of that, it's about the program. You can talk talent all you want, but it's about the program. Put the Dixie kids in Highlands' program for three years & see how talented they are come their senior season. Not saying God-given talent isn't a factor, but year-in, year-out, its the program that wins.

Last: Dixie is 6A. They should be able to put good teams together in the three major boys sports without any one negatively impacting the others to any significant degree. The success of Dixie's baseball program has not caused the football team to open the season 0-3.

This is so true. You do not see the younger talent being developed to feed the High School football program. The overall numbers seemed to be there but something is missing in the development of the younger players.

  3. Why not, they have a QB going to Auburn for God's sake, a very good running back and WR. As you said they'd be in shape, they wouldn't have guys on special teams that refuse to block anyone or keep their responsibilities. I also know that they're O-line wouldn't block as poorly as they did tonight. Dixie has a lot of talent, probably more so year in and year out than every other team in Northern Kentucky not named HHS they just get nothing out of it. If you don't think a coach like Mueller would take the talent they have and they advantage of open enrollment in Kenton county and make them a yearly state championship contender then you don't know much about football.

Dixie plain and simple does not have the talent. You look up and down their roster and show me where they have anywhere near the talent of Highlands or Cov Cath. It is just not there. This was plain and simple a better team winning the game. Dixie is not deep nor do they have the talent.

  4. From what I heard Peterson was told he needed to go to summer school to be eligible to play at Dixie and earn enough credits. He did not go to summer school so not enough credits were earned. Of course I have no firsthand knowledge of this. That being said he did not participate with Dixie's 7 on 7 team. Now I think Pike and Cohorn were on a traveling 7 on 7 team and he might have played with them there but that is not school affiliated.

Did he actually play in the Holmes game last night? If he did good for him as I hate to see any High School athlete miss out on this opportunity. There are rules he had to meet and if he played then he must have met those rules.

  5. Dixie plays so many kids both ways, maybe because they have to. Look up and down that Dixie roster and who do you want them to play. Dixie does not have the depth that the other schools do in Norther Kentucky. As far as Dixie not being in shape I think that is also a crock. Like another poster said Dixie is playing about 7 or 8 kids both ways with serveral never coming off the field. I do not care who you are or what kind of shape you are in come the 3rd and 4th quarter you are not going to be effective.

Another dissappointing loss and someone said the Dixie faithful should be more up in arms. Really what they heck can you do. Go out support the kids and hope something changes on the defensive side of the ball.

  6. Pike would not have made a 36 point difference. The last Dixie score was Dixie 1st offence against NCC 2nd defence. Also NCC still controled the ball most of the game, both the offence line and defence front 7 controled this game from the very beginning for NCC. I thought Dixie would win this game in a close one without Pike, as NCC had to replace 8 starters on O and probley just as many on D. I really didn't notice but did Dixie use alot of players both ways? I know NCC did.

Pike would not have made 36 points difference but if he plays then NCC does not score that many points as Dixie would have controled the ball more. I am not even saying Dixie wins this game with Pike, all I am saying is that you can not say that Pike would not have made a difference as he would have. I mean take Highchew out of the NCC offense and what do they do? He was thier offense in the first half.

Dixie will have some serious trouble the rest of the way stopping people if something does not change on the defensive side of the ball, but hey it is early. LOL

  7. To say that Pike would not have made a difference is crazy. Dixie would have controlled the ball more with Pike thus limiting the amount of times NCC gets the ball. Everyone says that Pike cannot play defense but no one mentions the Hightchew was going both ways the entire game. Dixie would have scored with Pike in the game and the final score on this one might have been 42 - 40. It will be interesting to see what changes are made on the defensive side of the ball. It looked like Dixie was playing a lot of sophomores on both sides of the ball.

Not to take anything away from NCC as they played a great game and the coaches made some great calls on the fake punt and onside kick but Dixie will put up some points this year. The question will be can they stop the other team. I think Pike will play defense because he has to, because Dixie just does not have the talent not to play him. Pike and Hatton will make a big difference in this team.

Also people want to blame this on coaching but I do not think the coaches dropped balls and missed tackles. Dixie must have dropped 5+ passes that were right in thier hands and both of the interceptions were passes that went right through the Dixie receivers hands.

  8. Score ended up 21 - 7 McNich. Dixie had a lot of kids that were sitting out due to nagging injuries. I think we counted 26 kids in shorts. The top 4 backs did not play and then Tyler Moore who was playing RB went down after about the 4th play. Heard them say a slight concussion. Dixie will have to play a lot better if they want to win against NCC. There were a lot of young kids on both sides of the ball for Dixie that will have to step up. Cohorn did look comfortable playing QB but it is hard to take out your #1 receiver and then not have 4 of your starting 11 on offense and expect to do much. Dixie is just not that deep to be able to afford to lose that many players. Dixie starting D looked ok and the score was 7 - 7 with the starters but McNich scored a couple scores against some subs. McNich could have been playing subs as well it was hard to tell as they were in their practice jerseys. Also it looked like Pike was not allowed to run the ball at all as Dixie had several 3rd and 4th and short and Pike did not run. Anyone who has seen the kid play knows that he runs the ball a lot and he did not have one run all night.

I think they said the coach that was there was from Denison and he was talking to a kid from McNicholas I think he was number 7 and 2 kids from Dixie, Cohorn and Handlon.

  9. Your so wrong Boone beat Dixie 41 to 16 I just looked it up. Dixie only beat Conner, Beechwood, Holmes, Scott and Montgomery County none of those wins are impressive.

    NCC L 35-28

    Beechwood W 35-21

    SK L 31-28

    Conner W 41-26

    Ryle L 20-7

    Scott W 56-12

    Highlands L 42-14

    Holmes W 47-20

    Cov Cath W 40-36

    Boone W 41-16

    Montgomery W 42-20

    Highlands L 42-28

  10. Their line will not be as good as last year. They lost some good players.

They return 2 starters in Withrow and Handlon that will anchor the line and 2 others who saw time in Maloney and Cornet. They will need some of the younger players to step up. Also if the Brady kid that started for Cov Cath as a sophomore can play that would give Dixie 3 solid starters that would go about 260, 270 and 270+. Again the issue will be depth. Handlon was a solid as they come on both sides of the line and Withrow is as strong and quick as they come at this level.
