  1. One thing that concerns me about both Knox Central and Bell is that neither has really been challenged since they played each other nearly two months ago. How would either respond with the game on the line in the 4th quarter?
I think we all know the answer to that one. Bell being a superior team with a great tradition would be the best in the 4a to handle that situation. Bell wins this week with no concerns. 55 Bell LC 7 Knoxcentral an improving power with the #2 defense in 4a would be similar to Bell. Bell scored 21 against KC. For anyone that thinks Rowan can do the likes of Bell has to be out of their mind. I know that is not your prediction but I have seen others. I actually think you have picked KC or will pick them. KC wins (48 KC Rowan 14) JV plays 4th QT.
  2. I can't figure out why Knox won't play Harlan County though. It seems like they are past the point of dodging teams that close to them.
Does Larkey even want to play KC? I don't think anyone is dodgeing anyone. I don't know what goes on behid the scenes either. Maybe it is Larkey Dodgeing KC. I don't know for a fact. Maybe it is both ways.
  3. TRENCHMASTER, Bell is a great team no doubt. This is not David vs Goliath. I hope you have seen KC play more than one game. I know Bell county followers were at the KC vs Johnson Central game. I think you have put the cart way before the horse on this one. 42-14 is not going to happen. If it does end up that way I will really be suprised. I don't think Hasbeen2 is using his enthusiasm I think it is his faith and knowledge of his program. Everyone knows what it would take to compete with Bell. I think you will be suprised to see the KC defense in the bell back field making big plays. The average lineman on the KC defense is 230lbs these are kids that have played from 3rd grade on up. They are very talented and quick. No knock on KC's program 42-14 that is a JOKE. What is their own right? I honestley don't think you know.

Hasbeen2 I appreciate your enthusiasm for the program and I agree they are heading a very positive direction, however, I think Bell County will soundly defeat them 42-14. No knock on KC though they are good in their own right.
  4. I think it is finally time to ring the Bell. KC has finally got the program that it needs. I have seen both teams play. I thing this will be a big upset to the Bell community. Why will KC win? They have nothing to lose. They seem to be hungry and looking to put their program up with the best. For Bell it will be buisness as usual.

It does not matter who beat who and by how much. it all matters how you match up with the other team you are playing. Both teams had better be ready. I am sure it will be a fight to the end. Good luck to both teams. I can't wait until Friday.

  5. They also have Tyler Bailey at 6'4" 220 senior and MAD DOG 5' 8" about 210 lbs senior. Playing inside line backers. They don't call him MAD DOG for nothing from what I have herd. They both Pack a load when they hit you. They also have a true freshman Gist. He is in the back field. He is quick to the ball and always seems to get that extra yard at the end of his runs.

Their main strength is in the trenches. Excellent size along both the offensive and defensive lines. Exceptional quickness especially among the defensive front four. The corners and reciever positions are manned by a pair of cousins, the Canadys. The younger cousin, Jeffrey, was rated the top reciever this summer in camps in both Oklahoma and Alabama. The running back name is Turpin. Decent speed and moves but benches 400 lbs. Tough to bring down. Qb is a jr named Barger. Good scrambler and becoming more accurate as passer each game. Offensive coordinator (and former Mr. Football) Scottie Russell has shown an almost equal fondness of both the run and pass.

Overall, a good and improving offense but an outstanding defense. Tough team to score on.

  6. Bell County and Boyle County are favorites just like my favorite soft drink....Some of our favorites have not even played these two teams. Why don't we just tell all the other teams to just stay home this friday night and we can all come up to Bell and watch Boyle co. play you guys for the Championship. I know you both have a lot of talent and I applaude you for that. But to get on here and to set up the championship this early in the season is ridiculous. Toot your own horn. The season is reaching its half way point. If you do make it congratulations. But I am sure that, well let's not mention any other favorite teams. Lets just say none of the other teams are going to lay down and let you have anything. If it were not for all the other teams how exciting would it be? Good Luck.......

  7. I was at the game. KC did strike early and hard. I think it was pretty much a done deal when Middlesboro's Quarterback left the game due to an injury. I hope he is ok. However Middlesboro did have some of it's starters in the game well into the second half. One was a wide out # 14. I think #18 wich was the back up for #7 started as a wide reciver. I don't recall the changes that were on the line.

  8. I think you are right on this one. Knox Centrals line will averag 230 lbs. The inside linbackers are at least 220 lbs. They are all quick for their size. I can't see anyone running up the middle on them. All of these young men have played football since 3rd grade. Williamsburg only got one 1st down on them and that was due to a penalty. However they did score twice on our JV.

Knox Central should get the running clock by halftime. I'll take the Panthers 56-0.
  9. I saw Whitley this summer at camp they seem to have a well balanced team. They have to big men that compliment each other very well. I think it will come down to their guard play. Their guards looked solid as well. I think Knox Central, Bell and Whitley are pretty even matched up. I have seen all three play alot. Barbourville will be no slouch either. I totaly forgot to list them.

    1. Clay

    2. Knox Central

    3. Whitley

    4. Bell

    5. Barbourville

    6. South Laurel

    7. Corbin

  10. South is loaded at guard. Their depth is unreal. They will have the best JV team in the area. I don't know if Clontz will play down any but with Mitchell, Sears and Sanders they will have a lot of quality young kids. Michell and Sears are skilled athletic kids. I haven't heard much about Sanders other than he has decent skills. He could be at the wrong place at the wrong time with this many good ball players at South right now.

I would say South will have a goood JV team but not the best. Knox Central's Freshman last year took South's JV into two overtimes and could have beaten them at the freethrow line but fell short. Tanner Broughton never played in that game either. KC also has a freshman class that has played South within a couple of points each game last year as 8th graders. Kc's Freshman last year also won the 13th region tournament. South will be good but that is a huge statement considering the talent level in the 13th region. KC has alot of depth. KC has played alot of kids up on the varsity for the last couple of years. KC will be one to contend with for the next 3 or 4 years. Harlan County also had a good freshman team as well last year. North Laurel also had a good JV team.
