Eastern is my #1 team. Remey Abell may be the best PROSPECT in the state.

Other than Memphis and UAB C-USA is a basketball wasteland. MVC is not a low major conference. I would argue that they would be a high mid major. MVC has more depth than the A-10.
I hope the kid gets a some high major offers but it seems at this point that those types of offers are not coming. He has been on the radar for a couple of years so he is not a late bloomer type that could be seen as climbing the charts
I agree. I would argue that both conferences were top 10 conferences in all of college basketball.

Ds 17's advanced to the consolation quarter finals with a 70-67 victory
over the Mississippi Ballers. Corrie Rogers had a huge game with 17 and ten including a half court shot to win it? Sounds wild but that is what I was told.
Was told Madison Johnson also hit some big baskets down the stretch
in a game with some tough matchups for the DS 17.
I think the DS 17's are playing for an overall 8th place finish in this bracket which is not bad considering the tournament started with over 140 teams?
Not sure if any other Kentucky teams are still alive in the D-1 tournament.
Anyone else know?
Was told the Mcfarland team lost a tough one to the Florida Rams with a lot of coaches watching.
-
Shining Star Sports-McFarland won their bracket game today versus the Louisiana Lightning at the AAU Division I Nationals. The team won by a score of 66 to 43.
The team was led by Chad Jackson with 15 points and Austin Flannery with 13 points.
The team will play Fab Melo and the Florida Rams at 5pm on Thursday evening.
Looks like Ds 17's play right after Shining Stars on the same court
after the DS team beat a team from Georgia 83-64 led by Colt Barnhill with 19 and Clint Stepp with 14 and Ashley Hatfield and Madison Johnson in double figures. Rams will be a tough game for the Mcfarland team. Fab Melo is huge, but he is not the key to the team. Rams got two talented shooters. Had a very tight battle with the DS team . The DS team held the lead the entire game until the Rams came back late in the 4th. Should be a lot of coaches at this game as the Rams have several highly recruited players.
Good luck to the Shining Stars

Ds 17's had a tough loss against Chris Paul's team. DS led through three quarters before CP3 pulled away the last two minutes. Colt Barnhill had a big game with 17 playing against the kid from Wake Forrest. and Clint Stepp hit some big 3's and Tanner Peurach was a force on the inside before getting in foul trouble. Reggie Bullock is a top ten player in the country going to North Carolina and word was he could flat stroke the ball. Sounded like the Kentucky kids represented well though and now move on to the consolation bracket. Was told Bruce Pearl was at the game and was very complimentary of the DS team.

NO!! I didn't mean that at all. Someone mentioned wanting to see a couple of players on that team. I was just meaning to point out that those players were on another team. No disrespect. I like the Derek Smith team and think they are a very good team and every win this time of year is a quality win. Sorry if my comments were taken the wrong way!!
No problem, I guess I just read it wrong
Good luck to the Shining Stars and all Kentucky teams the rest of the summer, there is a lot of tough competition out there.
-
You'll find out today if DSAS is playing well because the CP3 team should be pretty good.
I would say a team with a North Carolina and Wake Forrest committ would be hard to handle for any Kentucky team. Good measuring stick
I hear Elisha Justice is more than handling his own against anyone though
-
Derek Smith beat the ACR 2nd team. Their first team with all of the studs played in Pool F and will open play tomorrow against Shining Star Sports-Price (Black) tomorrow at 955am.
Are you saying that wasn't a "quality" win for the DS boys?
Do the Shining Stars have all their "studs" on one team?
-
DS 17's went 3-0 in pool play with an 82-53 win over Albany City Rocks, a Nike team. They play the cp-3 all stars Wednesday at 5 which is Chris Paul's team featuring commits to North Carolina, Wake Forrest, and Ohio State.
It should be a great game for DS.

I wonder what interest alum Jeff Davis would have in this job? He does a great job with the DSAS 16's and the Simon Kenton JV team.
I have heard Jeff make the comment that when it came time for Coach Cooksey to resign that he would have no interest in the job.
-
Word is that the DSAS are not in this event, does anyone know if this is true? If so, how can they not be there?
Biggest reason is that when Eddie Ford had his own team, if a kid got a chance to play for Ds All Stars, they left.
Eddie has a long memory, and it has nothing to do with "helping kids".

Really? In about 5 or 6 years none of us know what will happen in the region. The idea that the 16th has or ever will be loaded is funny to me. Traditionally, the 16th Region is either a one, two or three team race, or is so mediocre that many teams have a chance. The overall depth is never there and I don't see that changing.
Im not sure other than the first sentence of you post how any of that pertaints to what I said.
Here's my prediction, in the next 10 years Elliott County and Rose Hill will win more regional crowns than any other team in the 16th region. If Flemming County sticks around the 16th, they'll be knocking on the door as well. All 3 schools have tons of young talent coming up.
-
That is the funniest thing I have seen on here in a long time.:clap::lol:
:notworthy:
Laugh while you can but in about 5 or 6 years, there wont be much laughing going on for a long time.

Looks like he has one year of eligibility remaining.

Elliott will find out how much the leadership of the Faulkners meant to their team. You guys act like the guys they lost will be replaced. Not a chance.
1. Fairview
2. Rose Hill
3. East
4. Ashland
5. West
64th is loaded with the exception of "the tragedy in Cannonsburg". How bad is the 63rd?
I dont think anyone is counting out what the 6 seniors meant to last years team. I think it will take time for this group to find their identity but when it comes time for post season play, Elliott County will be right in the mix of things. I keep saying that Knipp is going to be a totally different player next year and his supporting cast is underrated. Lets also not under estimate how valuable it was for this group to have to compete against last years team everyday in practice for the last two years.

Thanks...I thought so but wasn't exactly sure.
Didn't know Jones was already offered. Do you know who offered him?
NC A&T I believe.
-
Doubtful. Why are you so down on the class of 2010? I personally think the c/o 2010 is one of the best to come through Kentucky in a while. There are already 6 juniors (senior to be) with D1 offers:
Elisha Justice- Shelby Valley
Ge'Lawn Guyn- Scott Co
Chad Jackson- Scott Co
Dakotah Euton- Scott Co
Donovan Gibbs- Iroquois
Ricardo Johnson- Holmes
I'm sure the following players will play at the D1 or D2 level as well:
Josh Sewell- Trinity
Jomari Bradshaw- Shawnee
Orlando Rutledge- Fern Creek
Elijah Pittman- Holmes
Jeremiah Johnson- Holmes
Matt St. John- South Laurel
Aaron Watts- Mccreary Central
Jarrod Polson- West Jessamine
Delquan Thomas- Eastern
Thomas Jackson- Jeffersontown
Tim Jackson- Jeffersontown
Ian Chiles- Ballard
Keisten Jones- Ballard
I could keep going on, but you should get the point...the c/o 2010 is absolutely loaded with talent.
The bolded players have D 1 offers as well.

Teams
1. Rose Hill - Very big and athletic. Have two of the better players in the region in Terry and Gregg.
2. East Carter - Second best player in the region with a very solid supporting cast.
3. Elliott County - Best player in the region with very underrated supporting cast.
4. Ashland - Loss of Bonner hurts but have good guard play returning.
5. Russell - Team filled with good shooters.
Players
1. Timmy Knipp - Off to a very good start this summer and I look for him to excel in the role of "being the man".
2. Colt Barnhill - Like Knipp, his spring on the AAU circuit was great. Look for Barnhill to be a 20 pts 10 reb guy on most nights.
3. Corey Gregg - Big body who battles every night.
4. Mike Terry - Outside of Knipp he may be the best college prospect in the region. Good size and athleticism.
5. Will Skaggs - Solid. Makes few mistakes and can knock down open shots.
-
Yea, no upcoming junior is gonna be there yet. But my point is, if you look at major d 1 players playing college basketball right now, and you could jump back to their junior year in his school, Knipp would compare to them. I guess what im trying to say he doesnt have to any make drastic improvements
-
So you think he can play at UK, UL, UNC, Duke, UCONN or any other top school right now?
I don't think he can yet but he could after two more years of HS. IF he was able to then those schools would be offering right now.
Obviously right now, no he could not play at one of those schools. But what upcoming junior in the country could play major D 1 right now? Maybe I misunderstood your post, but I thought you was saying that he wouldnt be a high major player by the time he graduates. If thats what you meant, then I still disagree.
So with that said, yes, by the time he graduates I think he will have the option to play in a conference like the SEC, Big East, Big 10, etc.
-
He may end up high division one but he is not there yet.
Simply put, I disagree.
-
The beat down started with the selection process when Kentucky overloaded on guards and forgot that the paint was an important area of the floor, and it ended with the rotation, and finalized with a "shootoff" between Hood and Sanford in today's game.
The whole process needs a "gut check" imo

How quickly the times change. Last season, this thread would have been 8 pages by now. Good luck to the Lions this season.
Like Iron Mike Tyson, many Elliott folk have faded into Bolivia.:scared: I hope they support this group like the last.
Only in America, baby!
C'mon now Mr. King. I think its pretty obvious that this exact thing happens everywhere in America. When teams are really good, most people jump on the bandwagon. While Elliott Co.'s fan base wont be as good as in the past 4 years, they will still have a very good following next year.
Now as far Elliott Co. goes, I think they will be just fine. I honest dont even know how anyone other than the people that have sat in on Elliott Co.'s practices (which is several) or have watch their JV team play on a regular basis could even form a fair opinion about next years team. My opinion is, they will be a top 3 team in the 16th region next year and you could very well see them playing in Rupp for the 4th year in a row.
Now lets get to Mr. Knipp. I don't think there is anyway you can say he is not one of the best 10 players in the state next year. He has been the most consistant player on the probably the best AAU team in the state, regardless of age, in the Derek Smith All Stars 16u team. Like I have already stated, he just picked up his first D 1 offer after a week at Tenn Tech where he scored 40 on one of the state championship(not sure which class it was). He strength is much improved from last year and he is flourishing in the role of "being the man" if you will. I expect Knipp to be the most highly recruited player in the class of 2011 due to his size, skill level, and potiental. Look for Knipp to have a great junior season.
-
T. Knipp picked up his first D 1 offer from Tenn Tech after a couple of 40 pts games in their team camp this past week.

This is the best sentence in the entire thread. I think we should all let this play out before we pass judgement. I do believe that if my teachings of the judical system are correct, we are all innocent until proven guilty in a courtroom.
