  1. Rocks had a good year. Not too many people expected them to get out of district this year. Hats off. It shows you need experience to play at Applebees and Trinity is a young team with only 5 seniors. Rocks should make it back next year riding on the shoulders of Littrell and Fuchs. But, the bats have to come alive. Besides hitting, Tompkins should work on how not to get into triple play. Good luck next year....

  2. Ballard parents get their way again. Coach Gilbert is as good as you can get. Yes, Ballard has had some good teams, but baseball is still a team sport and if the players don't buy into it, they won't get past district. Good luck to Coach Gilbert in his future. Heck, he might go back to Trinity, where he started...

  3. In the pros good hitters make outs 7 out of 10 times, but not necessarily in high school. Getting ahead in the count is important, yet a good hitter will wait for a fast ball and sit on it if he expects the pitcher to throw one 90% on the time. If he knows the pitcher is throwing a fastball first pitch every time, this will help his database on that pitcher as well.

Good hitters in high should only get out 5 or 6 times out of 10 at bats. If X's young pitchers learn from experience, might not fair well for the Rocks in the future. Fast ball out, fast ball in, curve ball....easy as 1,2,3.

  4. Another upset. Heard the Rocks came back top of 7th and went up by 2 runs. Wheels just fell off the bottom of 7th when sophmore pitcher Armstong tried to close. Armstrong is a very good sophmore pitcher, but Manual batters did a better job at the plate.

  5. That's the problem with High School. They should never allow fathers of players coach at any level at a school. Too much pressure on the kid, regardless of talent level. Trinity is well known for this action and you would think, someone (Mullins) would say it has to stop. Mullins saw it while his own kid was playing baseball. Then again, it's not all about winning, it's about developing/preparing these kids for the future.

  6. What's up with this score? Eastern beats Trinity at all levels. Trinity brought down a varsity catcher to catch in a JV game and allowed several past balls and could not even throw down to second. This picture seems to be off balanced. The fire power the Rocks have could only place 1 run across the dish!! I bet Rocks baseball is missing Stoner at this point. He did more than people give him credit to last years squad. Granted, these games don't count for much, but can play head games with the young kids.

  7. And that's why I said what I said. "Last year" can happen "this year". Did I think CAL wanted any part of Trinity and would beat them last year? No. Do I think CAL will beat Trinity this year? No. However, anything can happen. CAL is not a bad team, not a pushover by any means. I think you still have to come out and play well to win. Trinity is obviously the superior team, but don't be so quick to discount CAL.

If CAL plays Trinity this year, Trinity will win. CAL will never beat Trinity and X in the same week again....
