  1. If you've tried explaining and negotiating without success then one of two things will happen and this is based upon the district having adequate funds to even do what you wish:

    1. Someone will do the hard thing and sue or threaten to sue to make things right

    2. Nothing and things will stay the same.

I hope this doesn't offend you but if they won't do it voluntarily then someone must make them.

I think you for all the comments im afraid number one is what its going to come down to. Because number two is not acceptable on so many levels.

  2. I think one side of the argument that has not been talked about is the service that the team is getting/not getting. If the field is run by a city park, the school may not be spending any money which in these times is not such a bad thing. If the district itself does not have the funds to provide a top notch field, a city run park isn't so bad. Academics are still supposed to come first and softball is not a money sport

I also feel that the district just simply might not be able to match your enthusiasm about the sport.

The field is on school property but last time i checked this sight is sports leaning. I agree academics are number one but i think egual rights for are young women is to. And in this district its not that way at this point.

  3. You might have already tried but I would talk to your school AD and if that doesn't work have a meeting with the school board.

School board is scared of its own shadows. But from my understanding in the state of Ky school boards are no more than figure heads anyway. When it comes to spreading the money around.

  4. The tough spot comes with the backlash that can be caused for the coaching staff. The key defining word is support and that varies depending on the location an/or size of the school. The backlash can come from within the school where coaches may hold their jobs. I can definitely see where Title IX has its advantages for bringing and upstart program or an established one the proper facilities to continue their success though.

I can understand this and we dont want this to happen. That really is a sad day that this could happen. When we have brought are conserns to the district before we have said this is not the coach or staff.

  5. Keep in mind if you move Bleachers, from one location to another, than they must comply with current Building Code regulations and requirements.

Simple way, is to have the Title IX group get involved, to see what improvements or additions are needed, to begin and complete a Softball facility.

Title IX has been brought around the strong group of parents we have. But we dont want to go there if we dont have to. The parents we have do alot but there is alot of title IX issues with are facility that dont match up.

  6. My daughter plays softball for her school also travel ball and basketball and me and my wife are involved with both programs. We have been to alot of softball fields over the years. In the 16th region i see alot of improvements over the years and totally new fields and buildings. I need some information on how other teams are getting thes facilitys. Because in my daughters school district we are getting nothing but excuses thanks.

  7. I think most parents can do this....it is just a small percentage that can't. I know from experience it is just one or two parents that tend to be problems for a coach. Honestly, if you think back to teams your child has played on, can you really say that most parents are problems? And to any coaches reading this, can you honestly say that the majority of your players parent's are a problem? Of all the teams my children have played on, (basketball, soccer, baseball, softball) I will say that it has always been one or two players parent's who seem to be chronic complainers. Think about it?

I personally am insulted that you make such a blanket generalization about all parents when realistically it is a small percentage that create problems. If I was that dissatisfied with a coach, I would take my kid off the team before I would become one of those parents that thinks they need to be in the coaches face at all times. I have even considered taking my child off a team because I was not happy with a coach who, imo, was worried about pleasing some whining parents to the point that the team was losing games they should have won.

I have to agree it is a small percentage of parents thats been my take on it. And im involved enough with her teams to here and see what happens. Most of the time.

  8. As a parent, I would LOVE to attend practices. I want to be able to watch and enjoy my children as much as possible while they are still children. However, I realize that it's about my child and not about me. If there is ANY chance they my being there distracts my child or another player, then that overrules any desire on my part to watch.

I never go inside during practice, and I'm not one of those parents that presses my nose to the glass in the door to get a glimpse of what is going on. But it's not because I don't want to watch, it's because I never want to provide any impediment to my daughter or her team's success.

Being the parent of an athlete is hard. You have to show self restraint. You have to realize that the coach knows more than you do. And you have to realize that however talented that you think your child is, that they are part of a team. In any case, it would be better for the team to win and my/your daughter to have limited PT, than be a star and the team lose!

You couldnt have said it any better :thumb:

  9. I agree there are alot of stupid parents out there. Ive dodged this thread for a while but ive got to say this Lets not forget the parents that support there kids and teams they play for. Me and my wife have always told are daughter coachs if she doesnt perform in practice or games like you no she is capable set her let her think about. But like i said there are still good parents that understand. Just my 2 cents.

  10. A good battle won by Boyd Co. Lady Devils best effort so far. They are going to improve as they go.They are using both young and inexperienced players that will get better as the year progresses. They had their chances in this one despite foul trouble early. I think they missed two layups, a three, and had two turnovers in the last two minutes that let this one get away.

First time i had seen Russell and will agree better than i thought they would be. Boyd needs to learn how to finish.
