  1. I have no idea what happened....

But players not attending the tryouts is just frustrating.

If you have no intention of attending, inform someone ahead of time.

On the brightside, CONGRATS to the selected players. Best of luck against the Hoosiers.

The tryouts occurred over the private schools spring break period (Easter week). I understand that was the problem for Anna Martin and Courtney Clifton. Casey Jackson informed the director prior to the invites being sent out and her name was then left off those invited to try out. Courtney Clifton was player of the year for her region as was Casey Jackson. Both of these girls were automatically invited. Anna Martin was then also invited. The families had scheduled vacations months prior to being notified of the try out dates. It is a shame that the try outs occurred over the private schools spring break.

  2. All players that were named as Player of the Year for their region receive automatic invitations to try out. Casey Jackson was 9th Region Player of the Year and she also received an automatic invitation to try out. She notified the program that she would not be able to try out because of having previously made plans to be out of the country on a family trip. Her name has been left off of the list because of her prior notification.

It is a very impressive list and I am sure that all of the players that make the team will represent Kentucky well.

  3. Hey I like Jackson, but it's kind of hard to believe she was only 50% at best against Highlands when she scored 7 on January 6th when just 4 days later on January 10th she scored 20 against Boone. Either Highlands played pretty good defense on her or she's got one heck of a rehabilitation therapist.

Either way I'm glad she's healthy and will be ready to go on Tuesday night.

Jackson had just been released 1 hour before game time with a splint that she had never played with or even shot with, and (based upon the paper) the officials had 26 freethrows for Highlands versus 6 freethrows for NDA. The test will be how the 16th region officials call the game. Will Highlands have that much of an advantage the second time around?

  4. Let me say I'd be terrible as a coach in a post-game interview situation when my team just got beat in a game I expected to win.

With that, Cheryl Darpel probably should not have commented on how "happy" Ryle sounded with the win.

We already know that the paper got the headline wrong. We already know that the reporter listed the leading scorers for NDA incorrectly in the story based upon the box score. Perhaps, the reporter also got the quote wrong. I have never believed that papers accurately reflect statements. Do you?
