  1. Nees I agree with some of your points. However, mentioning that none of the wide recievers filled even one shoe of Detmer is flat out crazy. Connor Brock had almost 2,000 all purpose yards. Even though he didn't put up particularly good recieving numbers as compared to Detmer, he still had a very sound year (rushing, recieving, punt/kick returns) for a rebuilding Colonel football team. By the end of the year, teams weren't kicking the ball to him on punts. Brock will def. be missed in the kick/punt return game for the Colonels next year. Also, of course this years WR's didn't have great numbers...maybe becuase they had a brand-new OL and switched in two QB's for the first four games. As for next year, it will be interesting to see who will play QB for the Colonels. I feel that Pike will be a starter at LB, so I don't know if Spritzky will rush him in at QB...especially with Wilson having a year of varsity experience. This team should contend for the 5A District against Highlands. They certainly have the talent to play with Highlands this year, depending on their offseason work ethic.

  2. The entire offensive line is gone with the exception of sophmore Lubrano who had significant playing time. I believe he started a majority of the games. They have no kickers coming up to replace Jett (senior). As a matter of fact, I believe their JV backup quarterback (Wilson) was also the JV field goal kicker/punter. He was progressing very well last season until he sustained a knee/leg injury. Dixie will have a couple of good receivers. Connor Brock will be a stud at running back, he just needs to work on his receiving skills.

Defense, is a big question. Some guys on last year's defensive unit just did not get the job done and I did not see anything on JV team either. I hope I'm completely wrong but I just did not see it. When you start the year with 73 guys on varsity and end up the year with 42, that's a problem. Too much selfish attitude and me, me, me, last year from some guys.

Well i'm gonna lie and tell my opinion anyway:p I think the attitude going into 2008 season is opposite of what it was last year. The juniors for next season are the powerhouse class and they are more TEAM players than I players. And to me, that makes all the difference in the world is what kind of attitude a team has. The senior class from last season had a ton of talent but no TEAM attitude.
