  1. My family lives in eastern Ky, I reside in Caketown and love the BIRDS!! I saw JC play Breathitt thier first game of the season. JC has came a long way from that night, but I still believe that Highlands will win this game rather convincingly. To compare or attempt to compare Colerains running attack to anyone else is like comparing artichoke's and apples. I beleive Highlands are built tough year in and year out, the word tradition, is sacred and will be the difference.

  2. I can't wait for this one, other than last year these two teams always match up good. Don't think the motivation of the big loss to Highlands from last years playoffs won't be in the back of CCH's helmets your wrong. The Birds look better on paper, and in prior games, but this one still has not been played. I love the Birds, I hope they keep it in perspective. Bird' s should be to much for the CCH D. Birds 32 - CCH 13

  3. "Next, on BLUEBIRDPreps.com, posters will discuss the following provocative topics going on in Caketown".....

    1) What is the proper cooking temperature for hot dogs at the concession stand?

    2) Should the school be moved for grandstand expansion?

    3) How are cannon balls made?

    4) Guess Your Best? How many blades of artificial turf are on the Highlands field?

"All this and much, much more on BLUEBIRDPreps.com".....

Highlands goes undefeated and wins yet another State Title. Good Luck!

I enjoy the sarcasm and spunk in this post. At least the Bluebirds give Campbell County a chance at a state title year in and year out. Personally I do think they should move the school to expand the grandstand, just my opinion.

  4. Must be a cold, lonely little bubble you've constructed for yourself. You must've been among the large bunch who angrily canceled their subscription to the Herald-Leader when they dared to break the story about UK's cheating back in the late '80s.

There is a difference in deserving criticism( the cheating scandal of the 80's) and constantly being negatively looked down on by the same few writers who can't let it go, over and over. I didn't mean to offend you by stating my thoughts, you really took this personal. You'd a thought I took you out of my top 8 myspace friends or something. No wait, that is my cold, lonely little bubble. Thanks for your 2 cents worth.

  5. After so much ridicule and negative bias toward my cats, I simply stop buying the magazine, hitting the blog or site, turn off the radio, and spread the word like a virus. I simply choose to stop paying money or attention to things I don't like to hear about my cats. I know I am only 1 faithful fan, but if enough of us stop paying for the opions we don't like sooner or later one of two things will happen. One, articles and or opinions will change, or two the writer will. Bottom line is controvesy sells and we fall into that trap. Unfortunatly many of us react and speak so fast to things we disagree with that we don't actually hear our own words.

  6. I don't smoke, but it is an open air facility, and we are a top tobacco producing state. There should be a place designated for folks to go and fill their lungs with smoke. I like rules but you should at least give folks a time and place to have the individual choice to smoke. I do understand the whole second hand argument thing, but like I said, Commonwealth is an open air stadium and I don't really see the harm.

  7. This is my third season working at the GABP, the first three weeks are alsways limited attendance, throw in the rain, and chill and more peaople don't show up. Once school is over, and if the reds keep up in the chase, people will come. Also don't forget Griffey is only 7 homers away from 600, I expect attendance to rise when he is about 3 away.

  8. Just a few lines to say waht a great job Coach Henley has done at Holmes over the past two years. Three years ago when Henley had Rice, and Henderson, and a team that really played "I" ball instead of team ball, I didn't know how long he would last in Covington. As a Bluebird fan, I do have to say that he has really got those kids to buy into what he is saying and gaot a great team concept going. With three returning starters, juniors to be, I would have to say that Henley and the Dawgs, could be a state contender again for the next two years. Congrats to those guys on representing the 9th Region very well and on two great seasons in a row.

  9. I thought many times in the game Mason was lazy and standing around on the shooting end, but to thier credit they seemed to of had a switch and turn it on or off whenever they wanted. Miller was clearly a man among boys and could pretty much score when he wanted, rebound when he wanted, drive when he wanted, and stop on D when he wanted, the sad part is he didn't want to do those things that often. I was disappointed in the way Mason played this game and am very proud of Elliots game. The wanted it more and proved to alot of folks they will be a force next year. I do hope MC plays better tonight, maybe with some passion, and shows everyone last night was a off night.

  10. Arrez is a great defender and makes baskets from his defensive efforts and helps his team around him get involved and better. In the same breath he can take over and score 25 every night. He is intense. I am a Bluebird fan and am glad he is graduating this year. I think he would be a great fit in the Big Ten(Wisconsin, Minn) a system like that that plays great D and has a high % of transitions baskets. I once heard he was offered a scholly from NKU,

  11. Staggs was a PTPer in the 10th Region that was for sure, he single handedly won the 38th district title in 1994. Here are some other great 10th region names, Talbert Turner Jr(imagine a 3pt line with this guy), Orlando Myrick, Alvin Sims & Juan Byars, Cory Williams, Derek Robinson, Chris Harrison, Patrick Kelsch, I have seen all these guys play at one time or another in the 10th Region, some greta talent.

  12. I don't like the wouldve, couldve, shouldve game, it only irritates me. What if Simpson had not got cleared to play and McGraw had such back problems he was done at Christmas. I am happy that the Birds have what they do. You can't blame Stein for not playing the kid has a scholly to get a free education and play football. I also believe if the cards fall right the Birds can go the Rupp with the lineup they have now, and I know Holmes will have thier hat in the ring as well. I love this time of year!!

  13. I honestly believe Kowolnek is the wildcard in this game, along with NCC's % of the 3 ball. In my 25 years of following high school bball, I have been to a lot of games where a team was supposed to win. If Kowolnek comes out of the gate early and making those cuts in the lane, I believe the Birds can blow it wide open. If the Birds can defend the 3 and play at a little faster pace I also think that benefits them. I hope everyone comes out and would really like to see Eaton, Grote, and Watson put in some productive minutes as well. Good luck Birds!! HHS 69- NCC 57

  14. Watching the first three minutes of the game it was wierd watching as Highlands tried to get used to Nic back on the floor. It was a unsettling dynamic, waiting to watch him score his first basket, catch his first real crisp pass, and playing defense. I would say Nic was at about 85% tonight, but I'll take that any night. I feel that in his absence Highlands got to get some true grit and deepth in thier bench. He did play all four quarters and hopefully gets his smooth stroke back before region. The first step is New Cath Monday night. The way our district is set up, Highlands will have to play 3 games before Regional Tourney, and Nic has some fresh legs.
