Its always sad to hear when a coach leaves a program for any reason by choice, or not by choice. However any ideas on who might be some candidates for this job?
The last time they hired, it had to be someone already in the Kenton County school district because of employee headcount. If that is still the case, perhaps the current girls fast-pitch head coach and assistant varsity boys basketball coach would be interested. Roddy Stainforth.

If I am not mistaken, excluding the graduating seniors, the make-up of the current team is 1 8th grader; 6 freshman; 5 sophomores; 4-5 Juniors.
I believe there were about 4 seniors that chose not to go out for the team this year after playing their first 3 years at Dixie. Might have helped if they had.

Heard from a reliable source that Andy Elkus is out as head coach at Dixie.
-
How true is this? Are big schools always supposed to be good?
They should be BETTER. They haven't been able to compete with schools their size or bigger for the last few years.
-
I heard they ran a box and chaser on her all night. Someone did a very good job guarding her. Surprised a school as big as Dixie, does not have another "go to girl".
Dixie needs to take a good hard look at their program. A school this size should be better.

Hartfiel with 1 point ? She get hurt or did they just shut her down. Too good a player to tally just 1.

Been an ongoing problem at Dixie for the past few years. There were a few girls that didn't even come out for the team this year that have played before. They don't teach fundamentals. More interested in designing plays for the offense. Doesn't work if you can't handle or shoot the ball. Only teams they have beaten are small schools. They might even get into the region tourney.

Heard from a St. Henry parent recently that 2 or 3 good players quit the team about a week before the first game. What's going on over there?
-
With the new coach they have, I believe your prediction is a good one.:thumb:
Who's the new coach ?
-
I disagree that he was handed a mess. He inherited 4 returning starters that were coming off of a 12 win season the year before. They won 6 games last year and probably won't win that many this year. 2 starters from last year did not go out for the team this year and another starter recently quit. These high school kids deserve better. Parents and players alike are frustrated with this program.
-
Not sure what the problem is with Dixie... For the second straight year, Varsity player quit during the season?????
Sounds like I'd be looking at the root cause...
Middle school program at the high school level...... and the A.D. doesn't seem to care.

On the other end, more trouble for Dixie. Hearing that the Bowman girl has quit the team. That makes 3 starters from last years team not playing this year.
-
Doesn't seem to be a lack of talent with Rader, Bowman, and Jackson. I would have thought Dixie would "match up" well with Conner. Is the Dietz girl not playing basketball this year ? I would have expected Dixie to be a strong contender for the 34th District this year with Ludlow and St. Henry graduating most of their starters from last year.
Not sure if Dietz is playing or not. Soccer is her #1 interest. There is talent but they may struggle to reach last years win total, which I think was around 6.
-
Don't know that I would judge Conner based on this game. Dixie's program is struggling.

Tubby quit.
Sorry Tubby. Yes you did.
-
I've got to believe that this search was over before Billy was shown the door. No way Barnhart takes a chance of being turned down again like 2 years ago after he let Tubby go.
My money is on Donovan.

Was the three pointer at the buzzer? Any other details?
She hit the 3 with about 12 seconds on the clock. Dixie was up 5 with 58 seconds left. Ludlow hit 2 wide open 3's and Dixie missed 2 free throws. Close contest all the way. Key play of the game came with 3 seconds on the clock. Dixie inbounded under their basket, ran a nice screen for a lay up but a player from Ludlow (not sure who it was)made a nice play to knock the ball away from behind.

It was called 3 times last night against Boone.
-
Absolutely the best passer of the ball I've seen all year.
-
Dixie was no match for Ryle after the 1st quarter. I noticed in the box scores that Luebbe for Dixie did not score. Did she play or did she just have a bad game? Ryle is loaded with a bunch of athletic players.
Did not play.

This was a good game for Dixie. Even though they came out on the short end, their starting to realize that playing as a team makes a difference in their performance. Their ball movement was as good as I've seen all year against a Madison Central team that plays very good defense. If they can improve their shooting, they'll be ready come tournament time. By the way, anyone know Madison Central's record ? Good looking team.

When the girls play, the stands are populated with mostly family and friends. The boys have family, friends, and a student section. I rarely, if ever see a student section for girls games. The student section really adds to the atmosphere because of their enthusiasm. If the girls play first, they at least get the benefit of that, even if it's only for the 2nd half.
-
I believe they will be seeded as follows:
1. St Henry
2. Ludlow
3. Dixie
4. Villa
5. Lloyd

Seems like Dixie is playing a lot better lately.
They are playing better. Showing more intensity and rebounding better. If ALL the players understood the team concept instead of worrying about their point totals, they would be even better.

3 years ago when he was brought in, he inherited 5 returning starters, (2 seniors, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore). They won their district and went to the regional tourney the year before. They proceeded to win half as many games and lose in the first round of the district tourney the next. He just never seemed to get any traction. I wished it would have went better for him, he is a very nice man. I do believe the school is making the right move as long as they put the effort into the new hire.
