  1. I think maybe the several errors is what I am missing. The LF from the last time SK/WV played moved to second and made a couple really nice plays, the new LF could have been sitting in the stands with us and it wouldn't have made any difference. WV made 2 errors that I remember and both were committed by players playing in the same position as the last time they played. Just the way I saw it, how did you see it differently?

The girl that played 2nd against SK normally play 3rd base or SS depends on whos pitching and made a huge error in the 3rd inn. on a bunt play that aloud SK to score 2 unearned runs. The second error by catcher in the 7th that lead to nothing. That is how its scored by WV scorebook that is controlled by the coach. Maybe watching a few more games might help you in accessing the game

  2. To say the HR was "served" up diminishes the accomplishment of the hitter. If I was a Carroll fan, I would tell everyone that she hit her best pitch. Makes for a better story in my opinion.

I think buttercup is right she served it up, threw 5 straight balls and gutted one. After that CC got nothing off Ginn. Her first outing coming

    off lumbar surgery pretty impressive.

  3. Final from Verona. Strange game shortened by first rain, lightning then darkness in the 6th inning.

Carroll Co first base coach no class and very bad sportsmanship, making commits to WV pitcher, umpires need

to stop this kind of stuff in HS sports.CC hit 2 run homer in first and coach started running his mouth. Bearcats

tallied for 4 in bottom of first and never looked back

  4. Interesting. I don't think you can really include Brossart and NCC can you? I never thought Mel at Brossart ever coached fastpitch travel ball. Did he? And the coach at NCC I believe is a baseball guy. I believe he was a JV baseball coach or varsity assistance at NCC before taking over the fastpitch job. Not sure about Grant but I know all the other teams you mention their head coaches have coached travel teams before. Not really sure about Campbell County either. Not really sure who their coach is this year.
OK, first off the coaches or assistants at Boone,Ryle,Conner,Walton,Grant,SK,Campbell,Brossart and NCC have all been travel coaches with a pretty fair amount of success. So who is it you are saying isn't qualified? Most of the rest of the NK teams not mentioned are the old slow pitch teams. I would be willing to bet you if you dropped slugger ball coach into Dayton or Silver Grove he would not have near the success he has with the whole Louisville metro area to choose from. Coaching isn't the problem.
The coach at Grant is an old mens fastpitch player and also coached mens fastpitch as well. Ott Reed. The coach at Walton John Anderson also

played mens fastpitch for about 10 yrs and his dad George played for over 40 yrs as a pitcher and is a NKY Sports Hall of Famer. In talking to them alot of the problem

is the game is coached like baseball by some schools and fastpitch has a totally different strategy to teaching and coaching. I know for a fact that Anderson has turned

Waltons program into a winner. Marlin Gregg has been an assistant coach at WV 1 yr. Sure would like to have that coaching staff.

  5. Are you sure about that bc I am 100% sure Moran has a full athletic ride to Radford. She also had nourmous really nice offers from other schools at or close to a 100%.

Can't control what the high school team does. But can in travel, this summmer and fall she will play in Premier Nationals in Huntingon Beach CA, in Bolder CO, Chicago several times, Disney, Mississippi and Indy and that is just to name a few. All and by the way she hit over .400 in travel.

Not sure but I think that is a little bit better than some HS tourney in the western part of the state. Also Ky produces a couple good players though out the state but there is not a lot of good teams anywhere in the state. And yes the western part of the state is better than NKY.

Does Walton play some great schedule every year? When you break it down I am sure its about the same. I am not knocking WV at all, I would love to have my daughter on a HS team like that but not every school cares about softball.

WV plays a very demanding schedule and out of region teams. They always play Ryle, Conner,Clark Co

of the top teams in the 10th. They also play in some nice tourneys. They will travel to S.Laurel and Clarksville TN. Look at the past state champs for the few yrs and you will

see that the Western part of the state is so much better, along with the Louisville area.I know of the Moran girl and she is very, very good from talking to coaches in the area.

Just would like to see some of the NKY teams to take more interest and produce better teams, and scheduling good teams is one way to do that,IMO.

  6. Step it up against who, they played just about everyone in NKY. Didn't get down state much but who around here does. She hit her home runs against, Beechwood (2), Simon Kenton (2), Highlands, Dixie, Fleming County, Nicholas County

She faced NCC, Brossart, Ryle, St Henry, Connor who all have good pitching and hit well against all of them expect 0-1 against Ryle. Not the best schedule ever but not real bad about the same as everyone one else.

Maybe there is a reason she had nourmous full ride offers as a sophomore.

Kids dont get full rides for athletics, maybe after academic and financial aid kicks in. Play some teams out of the 9th region which is the weakest in the state except for the Boone Co teams Ryle Conner, Walton, Boone Co, St Henry. Play in a tourney in the Western

part of the state. I know for sure Ryle and Walton travel and play agaisnt some of the best pitchers in the state.

  7. I agree. I am very familiar with both Moran and Herrman as I have seen both play many times in the past with the Doom. It would be a shame if Grace did not play. She is such a good athlete. I also think that Boone County has a very good catcher and short stop that will be considered one of the best combos in the region.

As for the HC pitcher, I did see her pitch in the preseason last year but was not aware that she was hurt.

Ill take Ginn SS and Gregg CF as best 1-2 combo in area
  8. You didn't see HC's pitcher last year, she only pitched in the preseason and maybe the first game or 2. And even then she was pitching hurt.

Yes Herrman's first choice is soccer. With that being said she is still one of the top players in the region and will be the best catcher in the NKY. Her sister has cought the last several years at HC but Grace is a better catcher and would be an upgrade for HC. That is if she even plays this season.

If she does play the combo of Moran and Herrman would probably be the top combo in the area offensively. Moran hit over .600 with 9 homers in under 80 ab's and Herrman hit around .400 with a couple of homers.

If HC would step their schedule up a bit it would help Moran out if she is so good. hitting 600 it must be slow pitch
  9. Yes, I believe they will be stronger than ever this year defensively.
Yes WV is very good defensively but dont forget about there offense.

They have been at the top of runs scored in the region for the last 4 yrs. They also have great SR leadership in Anderson2B,Ginn P/SS,GreggCF,Watkins RF, and Mosier C.

All of WVs starters have played travel ball since young kids. This has to help Coach Anderson.

  10. I agree. The Ginn girl is a tough kid and possibly the best softball player in NKY, IMO. WV has two very good pitchers and I think Walton's defense makes them that much better. Walton is a very sound team all the way around, great athletes and very good coaching.
Walton seems to be very well coached,

can you give me any info on their coaches?
