  1. I have a Toyota and two chevys. Least expensive to drive and maintain , Toyota. Best ride, Chevy. The Impala is probably the best car for the money today ! Sticking gas pedal is nothing new to the auto industry. A simple cure would be to install emergency engine shutoff on new vehicles . There have always been vehicles that had engine fires, sticking throttles . etc. An emergency shutoff could cut the power to the engine and the electric fuel pump and would have saved hundreds of lives over the years.

  2. Congrats Russell! How did Molly Baldridge look?

Molly played very well considering she sat out of practice most of the week sick ! For this team to be successful she needs to play. They are a better team with her. She takes a lot of pressure off the point because she can handle the ball and usually makes good passes. It's like having two point guards when she is on the floor. With injuries and illness they have had three of their best players miss several games this year. The bench is young but improving and with any luck the end of the season will show a much improved group. Their new coach has a lot of patience and has them coming around. Their D is pretty solid and their point production has come way up.:thumb:

  3. This was a pretty solid performance by the Lady Devils. They can't seem to get everyone healthy at the same time. This game was minus a senior starter and also had another key player on the bench a lot after making two trips to the doctor this week. Fortunately Kayla Parsley was in the mix with a big game. The last three games have seen balanced scoring from four and five players and that is where they have improved. Unselfish play will win some more games for you. I can't remember her name , but number 14 for Bath is a player and shows a lot of heart on the floor. Congrats to the Lady Devils

  4. Excellent choice by the Devils. They are getting an excellent teacher and coach. I hope she gets the support she needs and everybody gets behind her fully.

I'm sure the staff will do everything possible to help the new coach get off to a good start. Hopefully the parents will give her a fair shake. I don't know that she will be using the same assistants. I have heard that Roark won't be with the team this season, but I would think that Cynthia Sparks and Cassity would be willing to help with the girls if needed. They both did a great job holding things together last season and appear to be there for the right reasons. I know you can't please everyone when coaching positions are filled but the job is filled and Mandy Layne deserves the chance to prove her ability. She has a good group of girls returning and should be competitive this year.:thumb:

  5. I was just told that Cassity did not apply ?? Person said that he had been told last season that he didn't have time because of his other duties. Also noted Cassity had put many more hours on the floor with the team than the head coach. He may not even be an assistant this season ! A.T. definitely has his head deep deep in the sand. Never say things can't get worse !

You seem to be close to the program, but I think you only have hearsay. There are a couple of locals that would do just fine with the right supporting cast IMO.:thumb:

  6. Here are some numbers to support my position that Holmes style of play takes teams out of their style.

Bryan Station season avg. 70.14ppg. vs. Holmes 86(worst game of season for Dawgs) & 56 in rematch.

Scott Co. season avg. 80.78 vs. Holmes - 65

Ballard season avg. 72.81 vs. Holmes - 42

Henderson Co. season avg. 63.03 vs. Holmes - 42

Frankiln Co. season avg. 62.11 vs. Holmes - 48

Boone Co. season avg. 62.16 vs. Holmes - 45(loss for Holmes) & 29 in rematch

    Hazard - 61.14 season avg. vs. Holmes - 40

OBTW Christian Co. gave up I think 82 to Henderson Co. in regional finals when Henderson Co. has only averaged 63.03. Almost 20 points more than their season avg.

That also shows that Holmes is not the run and gun team that several have claimed. There are quicker teams they will face.

  7. There are some teachers who end up every year with a higher percentage of "slower" students that will be thankful it is gone. They are the ones that have really been treated unfairly throughout the CATS rein. If you don't realize how bad these tests have been on the teachers you are not close to education. The only way they have been able to keep up at all is to teach the tests. The time used in teaching these tests has been taken from basic educational needs.

  8.

While a dunk may only put 2 points on the board, it gets the team and the fans pumped. It will also deflate an opponent.

I hope these 2 teams advance and play one another. Should be a thriller.

You may be impressed, but I doubt EC would be impressed or deflated.

I think this thread was started to gain support for your team. Kinda like the one that hollers the loudest is the rightest. You can't win on paper. IF, and that is a big IF, they make it to this game..............:ohbrother:

  9. Just got a text from someone at the games. He said D played a factor but it was mostly horrific shooting. We have seen it before in both boys and girls games. I guess you call it stage fright - choke , or what ever term you prefer. You just hate to see a team get there and not play at least their average game. Either way Boone was the best team today.

Congratulations to Boone Co. and good luck in your next game.:thumb::thumb:

  10. When one requests, Theoldguy produces..........

    Click on the link below.....

Boone County vs Rowan County stats

WOW Rowan shoots only 16.7% from the floor and 6.2% from beyond the arch. From the look of the chart, they missed from everywhere and anywhere.

    OUCH!!!!

Thanks oldguy for the chart. D may have been a factor in the paint but from where they shot the 3's I doubt it. Must have had blinders on.

  11. You have to give credit to Boone's defense as well.

Well, since I didn't see the game I don't know that to be the case. Naturally one would think defense had to be a factor. I had no dog in this hunt but I seriously doubt a team would improve 33 points worth without the other teams play being down a little. Hopefully someone will post some stats so we can know if it was defense in the paint or open 3's missed, etc.:thumb:

  12. Ferg had 10 coming into the tourney!!! He now has 19 and should have had a few more but couldn't hit a bull in rump with bass fiddle from three tonight!!!!!!!:jump::eek:

You've been around this game forever and you know a good shooter just shoots. Every now and then they don't go in, it's nothing you can fix, cause there's nothing wrong with it, you just keep shooting. I'm looking forward to next week . They will do fine.:thumb:

  13. Having watched both teams a few times this season, I'll say this: Holmes is the best defensive team in the state and Elliott is one of the better offensive team. Something I want to point out to those people who think Holmes can't score: they've scored 70 or more on some of the better teams in the state. Bryan Station, Seneca and Scott County-a team many thought was the best in the state even after Holmes beat them.

Elliott, on the other hand, loves to run. They love to force turnovers and score in transition off of those turnovers. I will not go into who has played the tougher schedule, but the play of the 16th seriously inflates some of Elliott's offensive #'s IMO. Not saying Elliott is no good, I'm out to get them, doubting them, hating on them, questioning how good the boys are etc. I am just saying I don't see them scoring the big amount of points against Holmes that they do against a weak 16th region. Holmes is clearly one of the best defensive teams in the state and the length of Johnson, Johnson and Pittman will bother the Lions' perimeter shooting and I look for a game similair to the their performance against Shelby Valley should they meet in the state tournament.

I agree they pretty much had a cake walk in the 16th,but they did play their subs more in the latter part of the season. They could have scored more in my opinion. They did play some better teams outside the 16th though. I guess it comes down to which team can force their type of play. I'd like to know both their game plans, also would not think they put up #s in the 80s.
