#2 suspended first half. Stupid mistake lesson learned.
-
Website says it is Steve Brown.
-
I wondered if the new AD made the decision or if it happened before the hire.
-
Saw this posted on KHSAA. Did Coach Sturgeon resign or was he let go? Also saw that St. Henry was hiring a new AD.
-
What would their job description be? I'm an NDA alum and I think this job is unnecessary on the high school level. I wonder how many hours are spent working on behalf of the program and what the compensation is.

Notre Dame Academy > Athletics > Teams and Schedules > Winter Sports > Basketball
It is listed under the team picture. The heading says 2015-2016 Coaching Staff
-
I saw this position listed on NDA website. I have never seen this title connected with a high school before. What does a person in this position do on a high school basketball team? I know this person coaches (or use to) AAU and 1 or 2 of his former players now play for the Pandas.

Thanks for the info.

The Diocese of Covington added a week to the dead period for the private schools in the Diocese. It started this week. Does this only apply to activities in their area of jurisdiction? Saw St. Henry participating in a team camp at Georgetown College. Is that a violation of the Diocese's dead period?

Perhaps Coach Sturgeon is feeling the pressure of following the success Coach Coburn had at St. Henry.
-
Here's the proof in the pudding- no job posted.
Thanks for the commitment to excellence St Henry! Crap or get off the pot- field a rec team and call it that or go balls out and try to be the best you can possibly be!
The job is now posted on the KHSAA website. At least they will be able to say they tried.

Actually I'm not a St. Henry administrator but thank you for the false accusations.
How arrogant are you? I was not referring to you. If you paid closer attention you would have seen that my remark was to truecru.

I am going to assume that most on here are not involved in the St. Henry program. So many posters on here always talk about how it shouldn't be just about winning. Well, the St. Henry program has suffered great attrition under Mr. Coburn. There are players that have played many minutes under him over the years that have refused to return to the program due to his ideas about how to run a basketball program. Check out the roster - only 3 seniors and 2 juniors in a school that has a dozen or more basketball players starting as freshmen each year and does not have to compete against other sports for players. This was a good decision made by the St. Henry administration although made too late for many girls.
The fact that you just joined tells me you are probably a St. Henry administrator trying to do damage control.

Bingo. Prospective coaches aren't dumb. After doing their research and seeing the records that led up to Coburn then the records and accomplishments during Coburn, what coaches (not related or a friend of the administration that is) will takeIf the a risk with this job? Area coaches talk - they know what's happening in each others schools in terms of support.
If the administration is so concerned with finding a good replacement, why is this job opening not on the KHSAA website. The only place it can be found is buried on St. Henry's website. I will bet dollars to donuts that two former coaches from the cellar days will be on the next staff. One is a faculty member and the other is an administrators daughter. There is only one coach currently on staff that has any interest in returning and they are a part of the "St. Henry family".

Coburn did a good job with what he had. I'm sure some girls opted to play volleyball instead of basketball. Players get weeded out from their freshman to senior year for various reasons. Most schools have 10 or so freshmen playing freshmen ball but only a handful sticks with it through their senior year. That's the way it is and St. Henry is no different.
There was a good freshman player this year who quit playing after Christmas because they did not want to miss club volleyball workouts.

I am involved in the program and there were not a dozen or more kids in the current senior and junior class that started playing as freshmen.

Was it over playing time for their kid, style of play or something else? Ridiculous no matter how you cut it.
Claimed Coach Coburn did not know the game of basketball. Their daughter saw significant varsity time.
-
So is it true that player parents had a hand in this and that Brian was asked to leave or be fired?
Parents who have a close family connection to the aforementined volleyball team.
-
Thought he had a younger daughter who played also.
He does. Decision was made because of unhappy sophmore player parents.
-
What....what was that? Nothing from the BGH.........?
-
St. Henry was playing their 3rd game in three nights also. Played Scott Thursday night. Defeated Cooper in overtime Friday night, before defeating the Bulldogs in the championship game Saturday.
-
Five point game with 2 + minutes to go.
-
Tibbs held to 15 points in 32 minutes. A great Crusader defensive effort.

May be going from the frying pan into the fire. Pastor at St. Cecilia is notorious for being a micro manager and extremely hard to work for/with.
