I found him to be rather refreshing in a sport that has always been a little snobbish and stuffy. He certainly doesn't seem to fit the Country Club mold.

HC leads throughout as Simpson & McGraw do not play. HC finally has balanced scoring with 4 in double figures.
HC- Giwa 21, Sorrell & Trimpe 11 & Eastin 10 Sorrell 15 rebounds
Highlands- Grote 16 & Lother 13 Grubbs 13 rebounds
Four in double figures, that's a great offensive feat. Congrats Holy Cross.

More than forty years later I still recall one thing that was taught to me in the public school in forth grade.
There is "a rat" in separate.
That, btw, is a spelling comment, not a social one.

Rockcastle- Casey Hayes
This guy could have an 1800-2000 yard season next year.........I'm not joking either and I am also taking the coaching/system change into account.
I'd say you're right about Hayes being in the top five next year. :thumb:

Maybe the fans will let up for a while. It's hard to come into a program the first year and break records.

Harrison will be tough to beat for the next several years. They had a very good young team this year and nearly upset Clark in the Regional Finals.
They get my vote. :thumb:

My personal wishlist:
Mike Settles (Bullit East)
Clay Clevenger (even though he had a rough year at Henderson)
Mark Perry (Washington)
If those three don't suffice, we could always revert back to Guy Morris.
Looks like a top list!!!

Heard a funny one the other day that reminded me of Greenup. A fellow was quoted in the paper that Jim Henson (founder of the muppets) must be coaching the team. He said even though you can't see him, he's making the mouths move.
That's funny.

Close game!!! Congrats to Corbin

Sounds like an exciting game to watch. Where was this game played? Hazard or London?

You can add Colt Barnhill 6'6 post player from East Carter to that list. He is having a nice season.

Coach Cornett, Mason and Charlie Turner and statistician Mike Turner(which played under a successful Charlie Turner team in the 80's) will be sitting on the bench the rest of the season. Coach Cornett and Mason have been helping the entire season and being a fan as Coach Turner will be assisting them as he did the boys back in 2005 and turned out to be successful then as well.
Coach Bates left both the coaching job and teaching job on his own for personal and professional reasons. Being able to spend more time with his family and a more suited working atmosphere was preferred by Coach Bates.
I predict that the administration was surprised and upset that Coach Bates left in the middle of the school season and especially the basketball season as well.

Impressive win for Catholic over the #6 team in the country.

With 18:25 to go, the Cats look pretty good with a 10 point lead over Vandy.

Back to the game...the 3rd quarter was exactly what basketball is about. Solid defense forced a boatload of turnovers and fastbreak opportunities. Elliott County shor well in that quarter and rebounded well. I believe the scoring in the 3rd was something like 35-8. Great job!

I believe Coach Bates resigned as a teacher and coach to take another job, to recoperate and spend more time with his family. If he took a job in Hazard and came back to Booneville to coach in the evenings, this would not accomplish what he told the administrators; it would be more time spent away from his family.

As bad as I hate to admit it, I think you are about right. (I hope we are both wrong)
