Number 45 had 4 fouls already, not sure why 40 didn't - she only had 2 or 3 fouls.

I have seen video of the last few seconds of the game in slow motion and the ball is still in her hand when the light is red. It was very close, but none the less a great call by the official.

There is no "first team" all-region. There is only an all-region team.

I guess the post regarding the 10th Region confused me. They have theirs listed as three teams.

I know the team has been chosen, but do not know who all made the team. I was told that Kelli Dixon and Courtney Sandlin made All Region 1st Team from Walton.

These girls did accomplish a great thing. But... It should have not stopped there. It would have been better if they could have done what they went there for and that was to compete to their best and try to go as far as they could. IMO i feel that the girls were stripped of that from a decision that was made.

Dixon and Sandlin are two great girls! I know that neither one of them would have done anything against the rules. Whether it was missing a curfew or even not following the direction of their coach. That just would not be the case for these two young ladies.

You would be the only one! I know every other parent, fan, staff and other coaches were scratching their heads.

Game against Grant Co. has been rescheduled. The Lady Bearcats stayed in Richmond to support the boys. The Lady Bearcats play Friday at 1:00 against Murray.

Early into the first quater, Sandlin rolled her ankle. She tried to tape it up and re-enter, but she could not.

Obviously this young lady impressed the committee with her play in the first two games. It broke this young lady's heart when she got hurt and could not play in the game, but she cheered her team on from the bench.

Congratulations girls! Off to a great start.

I think just about everyone on the varsity team scored in this game. Leaders were Dixon with 15 and Sandlin with 11.

Sandlin and Judy play AAU ball together and have for about 4 years now. Judy is a strong player and should see more playing time at the upper level. When the two of them are in together they compliment each other well. Judy has her strengths underneath and Sandlin is learning to be an all-around player. I think they said she is about 40% from the 3-pt line, so that isn't too bad. Slavey and Clinkenbeard are much better at the 3's, but Sandlin seems to be working at it. All of these girls, except Slavey (9) are 8th graders so there is much more to come.

Congrats to the Lady Bearcats. It was nice to see everyone play and everyone score. Way to go Slavey!!

Judy (8th grader) and Slavey (Freshman) are doing well for Walton.

Owen County 51, Walton-Verona 47: Guard Lauren Lowe had a team-high 14 points for visiting Owen County.

Tied 23-23 at halftime, Owen County outscored Walton-Verona 13-8 in the third quarter, and managed to hold on to the lead for the rest of the game.

Walton-Verona sophomore forward Kelli Dixon had a game-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds.

Eighth grader Courtney Sandlin added 12 points for Walton-Verona.

Sandlin works hard and continually improves.

According to stats on the KHSAA, Hill from Gallatin Co. and Wilhoit from Williamstown are both averaging a double-double. Devine is the leading scorer and rebounder for Carroll. Gayheart leads Owen in scoring. Unsure about stats for WV players.

There is no doubt, the 8th Region is loaded with "young" talent. How would you like to have a team that consisted of: Gayhart at the point (9th), Devine at the two guard (9th), with Sandlin (8th) & Wilhoit (10th) playing the three,four, with Hill (10th) at the five. I would pay good money to see that team play together. All those kids have the potential to play at the next level, if that is their hearts desire. "THOSE FIVE ARE AMAZING TO WATCH" especially Sandlin who is only 12 years old, what a future for the 8th region.

WV does have a great academic program and continues to improve.

WV Lady Bearcats seem to be improving as the season continues and with the strength and talent of the younger players; Sandlin, Judy, clinkenbeard and Mullikin the future looks good.

Maybe you should know all the facts. Academics are more important! One day sports will be gone.

I believe they did Saturday agianst Rowan County. Not positive though.

They did play Rowan on Saturday. Rowan is a very good team, but Walton did hang with them.

Rhianna is a great young lady and works very hard.
