Biggest Impact Transfers (all-time)
Who are the transfers (changed high schools after their frosh year) that made the biggest impact in KY high school basketball?
Wow, this is tiresome.
And you might need some clarification as well....football had nothing to do with it either.
-
And, for what its worth, I know both and agree that they are outstanding young men. One has nothing to do with the other. And, as I recall, reasons for transferring were not a prerequiaite for posting on this thread.
-
Let me see if I can help you. The thread is about transfers. Madeline Albright listed Drew McDavid and Matt Thomas as transfers to Ashland. While true, the poster who started the thread was asking about students that had transferred from the 9th grade on. I then posted that neither Thomas or McDavid fit into that category using the thread starter's guidelines. You then stated potato, potatoe and started quoting Bobby Knight and said you thought your point had been made. I stated that I didn't realize you had a piont, and I then gave the reason that McDavid and Thomas had transferred to Ashland, and Bailey Howell stated that both had received football scholarships and that their transfers because of football was well founded. I hope this brings you up to date. As far as a revolving door at Rose Hill. I believe this thread shows that it happens just about everywhere.
Thanks, but I don't need your "help." However, both fit into the category that they transferred and played basketball; your main point seemed to be that they transferred to play football. I don't belive anyone, but you umentioned football. And, Bailey's post also referred to football. Wrong forum. Both played at RH, transferred to Ashland and played BASKETBALL. And, it doesn't happen everywhere in the 16th. Glad I could help YOU!

Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard Daniel has had input on the next coach.
 Really?!
-
I didn't realize you had a point. What is your point? I think it's fairly obvious that Thomas and McDavid both wanted to play football in high school. Rose Hill couldn't offer them that opportunity. What would you have suggested they do?
I didn't realize this was a football post. I thought we were talking about kids that TRANSFERRED FROM ONE SCHOOL TO ANOTHER AND PLAYED BASKETBALL! Just talking about the constantly revolving door at RH. So, what was your point? We talking basketball or football?
-
I'm just telling you what the original post stated, and using those guidelines they weren't transfers. For what it's worth, Thomas spent the 1st 6 years in the Ashland system before going to Rose Hill for two, and then back to Ashland.
In the immortal words of Bobby Knight..."Often wrong, seldom undecided."
I know what the post says. When you start talking about 2 of the best that played at any school, I think my point is justified.
-
Yes they were, but in the original post it says.
"Who are the transfers (changed high schools after their frosh year) that made the biggest impact in KY high school basketball?"
Potato, potatoe...a transfer is a transfer to me.
-
Steve Himes, Drew McDavid and Thomas were not transfers.
Weren't McDavid and Thomas at Rose Hill for a while?
-
Don't forget Frank Lee and Antonio Owens to Boyd Co. Ramey Home has been pretty good to the Lions.

Rick Jones - Corbin to Scott Co.
Scott Hundley - Dunbar to Scott Co.
Vee Sanford - Lafayette to Lex. Cath
Whitaker - Bell Co. to Hazard
Soon to come:
Euton - Rose Hill to Scott Co.
Jackson - Rose Hill to Scott Co.
I'm sure there are many more..... I'm most interested in old school names if there are any.
Basically, most of the great ones that ever played at Scott Co.
-
Somebody said she was walked w/ the bases loaded this season and also missed a base on another homerun and was called out.
She also hit a homerun against Raceland in Rowan Co. that went through the temporary fence and it was called a ground rule double.
-
Yea, BellAlumni you are right .... everyone thinks Toyota is "in" with Scott County. A lot of the kids have been in the Scott County system there some time. I know Mannings parents work at Toyota, but he has been in the Scott County system many years. But most of these rumors about Toyota jobs and links to Scott county are just that.... rumors.....

Lots of questions to be answered here. IMO, Euton is over rated, and I'll be surprised if he ever puts on a UK uniform. Not nearlly athletic enough; can't get his own shot and can't guard ANYBODY. Jackson is a supreme athlete; needs to find a jumpshot somewhere. Only saw Guyn a couple of times; his game was similar to Jackson's. There's a reason RH never made it out of the region. And don't say they're young, cause Elliott County has been twice.

RV is a great shooter. She seems to play with a lot of passion as well.
-
Has anyone heard how Vanderhoof is doing?
The Lady Rams should be a tough team to beat in 2008-09 and Vanderhoof will probably be the best player in the region. Trimble has a done a wonderful job since taking over as coach.
She's good, but Leslie Eagle has the best skill set, IMO.
-
Never happen.
-
The 4 that played in KY-OH got it HANDED to them against Ohio; KY could be 0-2 again.

I don't know about the 11th Region, but little ole Elliott County from the mountains will give Billy Hick's University all they want next year. After getting beat by Mason County by 30 points they then took the state champs to the wire and should have won in Rupp. They return all five starters next year. Hick's will need every one of the transfers + Guyn and Phares to beat Elliott!!!! Breaking news: Elliott will have no transfers next year..............
I personally would love to see the Lions put one on "the best coach in Ky". Give me that bunch and I believe I could win it too.:ylsuper:

Whoever the Superintendent and local BOE member want................
Pretty profound, right there!
-
I am beginning to like it because it would make my job as a coach, much, much, much easier.
You're a coach and still find time to post 26K times???!!!! Most of the coaches I know work year round, and don't have time to post on message boards. WOW!!!!!:jump:
-
I think so... I hate watching games where an inferior team holds the ball for a minute. t is boring and outdated. It is not how the game is played anymore.
You play to win the game. Whatever it takes. And, with schools like Scott Co. getting so many "transfers", limiting possessions and shortening games is one way to give your team a shot.
-
And everyone will be talking about what an amazing job Billy Hicks has done with this team next year!
