  1. Other posters can make comments about Rose Hill but how dare a Tomcat Alumni?

For your information I have commented about other teams as well. I am not against nor am I bashing any kids or the program that Ovinton J'Anthony helped to build. Keep up the great hustle Royals! Can't wait til January 15th! Hush, Hush Sweet Child. Silence is coming.

  2. All of the above is a form of a cop out. Even within the confines of a team atmosphere there is nothing wrong with individual attention, if so then many on here should never mention how great certain players are only their teams.

Since no one is listing any players I'll go first...here goes

    1. Kyle Umberger

    2. Mark Surgalski

These two guys were outstanding in this region and did it in a team structure.

  3. Such RH/ Ashland love here.

If you are going to bash anything bash the School, not the kid.

Is comparing a 15 yr old kid to a graduating Senior ,from as you would say "The most prestigious team of all and forever time in the 16th Region", fair?

BTW, are you stating that this supposed 15 yr old kid is not 15??:sssh:

How have I bashed any kid? For what it is worth, Rose Hill has a program.

  4. I have not heard anyone from Rose Hill talk about winning the state. They know they have their hands full beating Elliot County. Top 25 team, yes, but They are way too Young to be considered as State contenders. Euton is going to be judged in every game he plays from now until he graduates thanks to the Kentucky offer. Pretty tough spot to be in, but I also know that Euton knows what he needs to work on and will work as hard as anyone in the state

to get there. So for those of you that enjoy his bad games, enjoy this one, there won't be that many more of them as he has a lot of MONSTER games coming up:thumb:

Is he going to be a huge success at Kentucky? I have no idea, but I do know

a lot of Kentucky kids that would love to trade places with him

Agreeable Post. I was not hacking on him as a person or a player. Just presenting some facts of interest. Todd May is who comes to my mind when discussing this situation. Best of luck to the Royals except against the Traditionally Rich All Time Winningest Program in the State...The Ashland Tomcats!

  5. Are you making fun of a 15 year old kid for these stats. If so you are showing your lack of knowledge of his playing ability or the way the game is played in general.

No I'm not making fun of any kid and I never will. My response is not critical, or sarcastic but it is realistic and by the way who is 15?

There have been many great high schoolers find themselves transferring from big colleges after their freshman year. Both of Rose Hill's prospects may be better off at a smaller school.

Let me give you an example of one of my own. Mark Surgaski, in my opinion was a great player in this region. He ended up at Georgetown, where he played really well. I am not saying anything bad about any kid, so quit adding words to my post. You didnt argue with my post so maybe deep down, you agree.

  6. You are correct in being biased...

    Actual stats:

Chad Jackson's numbers as a point guard recruit were, 18 points, 6 for 12 shooting, 5 of 9 from the line. Has 2 assists versus his 3 turnovers.

Dakotah Euton's numbers as a forward were 9 points, 2 for 17 shooting, 1 for 8 for threes, 8 rebounds, 1 block, 3 turnovers with no assists recorded.

If these stats are correct, then enough said! May want to consider Berea or Transy.

  7. I appreciate a good joke as much as anyone, which I suppose is why I find you so entertaining.

I'm not hiding anywhere, if you don't know where to find me, I'll be happy to provide you directions. :thumb:

You should be easy to find because your cervical vertebrae tends to reveal a certain pliancy suggesting that your conscientiousness is neither West Bound nor East Bound (RTE 60) but somewhere in the middle. Perhaps, not suggesting but just perhaps caught in the middle at let's say Western Hills or the Marathon Station. You should make up your mind but it is nice to know that you still care about Ashland and it's rich tradition.:thumb:

  8. I'm not slamming the kids here, but you're not exactly sticking your neck out with this prognostication Shooter...

Good job boys... keep up the good work. :thumb:

If you were slamming someone you would have used more educated words to hide behind. Good job Lil Devils! Keep working hard and you will improve.

  9. Once again. I have no dog in your fight, but really, really find your posts very conceited for no reason. Did you even play sports at Ashland, easy to say you did, easy to say you had something to with the So-called Tradition.

BTW...Read the Bible, it states "Pride comes right before Destruction".:thumb:

What does the Good Word have to do with Ashland and their superiority over the rest of the region?

By the way, can't believe that BC would still allow the Bible to be read.

  10. Now that is gonna get some of the Blue guys fired up at that school over the hill from ya.

Not too sure about your statements here...Plus if you feel so strongly about your team, dont you think you can beat some Juniors from Elliott County...I have my opinion, just wanted to know yours. Plus that deep dark tradition at Ashland teach you to already give up on a game you havent even played yet??

I may bleed maroon but I give credit where credit is due and Elliot is a tough bunch of kids...just goes to show you if you wait and coach long enough eventually you will get some decent kids.

  11. It might also help if you truly "knew" who you are conversing with "pretend" old man. (You may know my identity, you don't know me or my story.)

I say "pretend" because I genuinely cannot believe that anyone who actually participated in building the Tomcat Tradition would be so condescending and disrespectful to Ashland's opponents. This attitude is truly embarassing to anyone who ever did anything in the gym or on the field to "earn" even one victory.

You're entitled to your opinion, and I can see it is pointless to try to persuade you. My opinion is that it is posts like the one quoted above that fuel anti-Ashland sentiments FAR MORE than any legitimately earned achievement, by any Tomcat athlete(s) in the history of the program.

I am still trying to figure you out. Are you a TRUE Tomcat or not? Do you still support the Tomcats or another school. It's my post? When I played you didnt buddy up with opponents off the court or off the field. Maybe times has changed, where kids from different schools horses around together, but during Ashland's great teams, other schools feared to play us, that my friend is what earned respect and thank goodness Biggs is bringing that back. Do you honestly think I want my Tomcats not to be feared? You have a lot to learn. I am glad you and your co-horts decided to seed the district last year, you want Ashland in your metal can so bad...guess what? We are coming and will win. Our kids are getting hard nosed and are beginning to understand what it means to wear the Ashland uniforms with a right kind of pride. Bonner will do a number on the region this year especially against marshmellow nosed players.

  12. I still don't understand why you are knocking the program.

I like Russell, I live in Russell, as a matter of fact in the late 50's Russell Teams were the only ones to really challenge us along with Olive Hill. I just dont understand, nevermind...I feel you are baiting me, so I will keep my thoughts to the PM/ May I PM you?

  13. ...or overly amplifies a feeling of entitlement among that program's boosters.

Anyone who ever donned the glorious maroon and white, and busted their tail to develop their mind, body and competitive skills to notch each and every precious victory that has added to the Ashland tradition would find their accomplishments, sacrifice and contributions irreparably cheapened by allegations of "home-cooking" of any kind.

It’s bad enough when a school’s detractors do it. It is beyond comprehension why a school’s boosters would do it.

You and others forward “the deep rooted hatred for the winningest sports program in the state” as an explanation for the persecution the program must endure. I would suggest it has far less to do with others jealousy over eight decades of achievement than it does with the chest thumping, back slapping and crowing that goes on today when things are good, and the unbelievable whining that goes on when things don’t work out.

That is not how “the winningest sports program in the state” got to be ”the winningest sports program in the state.”

I can assure you it is not how to keep that tradition alive and growing.

You need to realize who you are conversing with young man. Our tradition is alive and growing as we demonstrated last night against our nemesis. Outside of Elliot (A Flash in the Pan, along with another Ashland City Team) We are the best team in the region with, whom I say without hesitation has one of the brightest up and coming coaches in Buddy Biggs. Biggs may not stay long at Ashland becuse he will make a great college coach one day. .

  14. I think School "A" has done just fine since "Legendary Coach A" retired. They've had a couple of coaches who didn't work out, but "Current Coach D" is doing fine. The "7th Grader K" is just too good not to play, and politics don't play that much into it. I never heard anyone complain when OJ Mayo played in 7th grade and plenty of the Class A schools have had Junior High kids play Varsity Ball over the years. Don't play the politics card here because "7th Grader K" has the God-given ability to get minutes on the Varisty level. That's knocking a kid down, and surely you weren't knocking a kid.

I would never knock a kid down. I was knocking the program itself. Please don't put words of your own in my posts. If you support Coach Dodd then that is great. I personally think he is just average like many AAU coaches. It is easier to coach college and AAU when you have the talents but real High School coaches spend their off time developing younger players not waiting until they have to. As for the Skaggs kid, I assume he is either Steve's son or some relation. He will probably be a dandy.
