Great job Williamsburg boys, Where do you find a copy of these results?
-
Congratulations to James Payne and Coach Herron from Williamsburg, well deserved guys
-
I agree with you cnc78 Coach Herron does such a great job with these boys. They might not be the biggest, the fastest or the strongest, but they have really impressed me this year. I am very proud of the Yellow Jackets and think if they play like they know they can Williamsburg can come away with a victory against Fairview. Let's go Jackets!

Jackets 32-8

The Jackets have shown alot of heart this year, for a team that was not picked to do anything this year they have been impressive. Good Luck Jackets throughout the rest of the season and playoffs

Well said, I agree 100% the coaching staff at Williamsburg is wonderful, and I really think the players play like their motto this year, One Family One Goal!!! Let's go Jackets I see another District Title coming your way
I was thinking, after the losses that Williamsburg had to graduation, players such as the all time leading passer, and an all state receiver, as well as other key players, that this would have been a re-building year for the Jackets. However, they are poised to win their third district title in 4 years. I think that this is a testament to what a marvelous job Jerry Herron and his staff of Mike Abbot, Vaughn Hatcher, David Root, Chad Price, Troy Thomas, Matt Jones, and Will Renfro have done. Personally I think Coach Herron may be one of the most under rated coaches in SE KY. He really gets those kids to buy in to wearing the orange and taking pride in Williamsburg football. As to the game friday, Williamsburg is on a roll. They have been more physical on defense than I have seen in at least 4 years. Root and Perkins have been smashing ball carriers and quarterbacks like their lives depend on it. Logan Hamlin has taken the bull by the horns and flourished at QB. JP Payne should be all state at receiver and is making plays like a demon. The two headed beast of Hoffman and Thomas have made this a very balanced attack. I know Campers will disagree but I think Williamsburg will be more physical again this year and will win the District title outright with a 32 - 12 victory. -
Williamsburg should win if they play like they have been playing. Defensively they have been playing much stronger in the last couple of games, and offense has also been doing great. Hamblin has done a great job as Quarterback and Payne has done a great job at receiver. Hoffman and Thomas have also been playing very strong. Go Jackets!!!!!

The Jackets looked a little shaky in the first half of the game but pulled together in the second half nicely. They looked well at times but still have some things that they could work at.
-
Wish there was more time, two 20 minute halfs with clock running continuously didn't really give either team enough time to work on anything, but I thought W'burg looked okay, could have been worse, I guess could have been better
-
I think the Jackets played a great game, Corbin is a very good team, Madison Johnson and Isaac Wilson are great players, no disrespect to the Redhounds, but the refs where absolutely horrible, not saying that W'burg would have won the game, but my gosh call it fair
-
What a well deserved win for the Jackets, Good Luck at State!!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!!
-
Good Luck Jackets Great effort last night, hope to see the same great "D" tonight!!!

Taylor is not on the roster this year.
Taylor is back on the team, and is playing better than ever
-
I thought Williamsburg had a wonderful game, much improvement. Jerry Herron is a great coach, and he has been working very hard with this team. These boys have such enthusiasm and such a will to win. I wish them luck the rest of the season. Go Jackets

Who are the best players in the 50th District?
-
I watched a summer game recently and Williamsburg beat Barbourville without a few of their starters.

Sorry Earnit08, no disrespect intended but that not the way that I saw it last night. Taylor tried to drive in between 2 SL players and make the last minute basket and lost the ball. Let's say that he had made it past those 2 defenders, what was he going to do about St. John? I think that this was a shot that would have worked better being taken from the outside. You have to look at the situation. In the Whitley game, during the last seconds of regular play, when one of the guards tried to drive in between Whitley's players to take the last second shot, going inside was the right play but the wrong person tried to execute the play. The ball should have been passed off to a more open teammate on the inside. Last night, Taylor didn't have a chance of making a play inside because he had 2 defenders on him and of course St. John was waiting if he somehow got past those 2. He should have passed the ball off to a more open teammate (Cunningham or Terry) and let one of them try for the outside shot. Williamsburg must start playing together more as a team and keep it up for an entire game. There is no room for selfish play in basketball. College coaches will look for good shot selection, assists, the ability to work well with others, and many other things besides just points scored. Taylor had a good game. I'm not taking anything away from him last night but Williamsburg's guards have got to buy into the team concept if the Jackets are to have success this year.
The way I usually see it with WHS if they don't take the shots they would for sure lose every game and by way more than they do. I hear so much about their big man and all I ever see is him missing his layups or losing the ball when it is passed to him. And Taylor did have a chance of making the shot even against "St. John" there were only 8 seconds left on the clock and it had to be brought from the far side of the court, there wasn't anybody open to pass the ball to!!!! I didn't see Steve try to drive between 2 SL players, as I seen it they were behind him. It appeared he was bumped into or tripped. People see things differently, but I had a pretty good view. I guess we will just have to leave it at that.

What happened on Williamsburg's last possession? I was listening to the game and all I got out of Stan's call was that Taylor lost the ball and St. John picked it up and the game was over.
Actually they could have called a foul on the last possession, Steven had the ball and 2 (I'm not sure who) South players were behind him, one tripped him, (I don't think it was on purpose) and he (Steven) fell and lost the ball. I have seen them call fouls on much less than that, but it was in the last seconds of the game. All and all Steven and all of the W'burg players played hard and had a great game....
-
Steven Taylor had 20 points and 5 rebounds, he played a great game, Aaron I think had 17 points, he also played a very good game.
-
That is correct it hit the wire and bounced off the top of the backboard and they still counted the basket, but other than that it was one of the better officiated games I have seen in a long time......
-
Way to go Jackets keep it up:

I believe his name is Mark and I'm not really sure but I think it was Whitley.
