Northern Kentucky area...who is Gerry Burling?

Searching for a hitting coach and a pitching coach for my granddaughter. Suggestions?

While injuries are a part of the game, that's little consolation. And as hard as it is on the player, moms and dads suffer too. I'm glad she's not a senior, but it doesn't change how sorry we all are for Devon and her family.

Coach Winstel was in the front row. Tibbs would look good in black and gold in a couple of years. Who else could she have been watching?

She can go left as well as right. She's unstoppable when guarded by a shorter player, but someone tall and strong could give her problems. Peters from CC held her to 31 last night.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Campbell County closed the game on a 15-0 run. Man to man pressure seemed to wear down my Eagles in the final few minutes. Great game by Tibbs and Benzinger, and equally as good a game by Bowling and Kitchen. Guess her finger is better. Congrats on 1.000 points. Tibbs will join the club in her next game.

It's Scott's turn and they've had this game circled for a long time. We've lost to many close games to them. Scott has played a better schedule and Tibbs is virtually unstoppable. THe only way CC wins is if Tibbs gets in foul trouble. But if CC's post player gets in foul trouble, Scott will win big, even if Kitchen plays. Scott by 13, 56-43.

Brossart has a couple of nice players, but they have no chance to beat Boone. BC by 22.

I would say that Scott would be the early favourite to win the 10th region tournament. In the games I've watched, Tibbs is unstoppable.

Campbell Co. is the defending District Champs and may take exception to Scott being considered the favorite when Campbell has a solid returning team to defend that title.

Who do they have? Who is going to stop Tibbs? THey were really lucky to be Scott last year in the tourney.

I heard that some of Brossart's key returning players are not playing. Can anyone confirm? If this is true, what's going on? If this is true, will Scott be the favorite to win the District?

Who is going to rebound?

What are their chances for the upcoming season? Is CC favored to repeat as district champs? Who are the key players returning?

Tibbs and Benzinger are both back...Tibbs can be a dominant player inside if they'll consistently get her the ball!

I am not disputing that Kirsten Allen is an outstanding athlete. She is, without question one of, if not THE most dominant pitchers in Kentucky fast-pitch softball history. No one could argue that. However, I've always wondered this: Are the Ryle outfielders having any fun? I understand that they have the privilege of playing for a potential state championship team, and everyone dreams of having this chance. But if they played on a potential state championship SLOW-PITCH team AND were CONSTANTLY involved in the action, especially on defense, wouldn't that be more enjoyable? The last time I saw Ms. Allen pitch, her outfielders could have sat down in the outfield grass and completed their calculus homework DURING THE GAME...and no one would have noticed!

I understand the college scholarship angle (after all, isn't EVERYONE going to get a scholarship?), but come on, let's be realistic. If you are a true competitor, you'd much rather be involved in the action rather than simply watching. Slow pitch is a more exciting OFFENSIVE game and more ENTERTAINING game to watch and to play. And in ten years (or less), when these girls are looking for ways to stay in shape and still be competitive, most of those who currently play fast-pitch will agree with me.

Can anyone please explain why the entire team was composed of ONLY 9th region players? I know of at least three girls from regions other than the 9th who had MUCH better stats than some of The Enquirer's "All-Stars." Seems like it should be called "10th Region All-Stars" instead of "Northern Kentucky's All-Stars."

Not sure that's much of a reward to draw a team that has beaten you on your home floor. I wouldn't count the Lady Bears out so easily. Will say thats a nice win over a District rival. Congrats to the Lady Camels.

You're right Big Daddy, this really isn't a reward, is it? I spoke to a CC fan who told me that the first game really wasn't that close. Bracken outrebounded the Camels by 20+ and CC never pressed the entire game. When I saw the bears play near the end of the season, there guards had alot of trouble with presses. So their inside people couldn't get the ball. If CC doesn't press and Brackens guards get a free ride up the floor, Bracken could win again.

Would the Campbell County Camels fit into overachievers? They won their District over Brossart?????

 

I don't know enough about them, but I thought Brossart was the favorite there.....

I wouldn't say that CCHS overachieved. We shouldn't have lost to them in the first round, but they definitely didn't overachieve. I'm pretty sure they returned 4 starters and only managed to go 12-12 heading into the tourney. I looked on the KHSAA website and saw they only beat one school all season long who ended the season with a winning record. That's not exactly what I call overachieving. It sounds like they also blew a huge lead against Brossart the first time they played. Now look at Scott's record. WE UNDERACHIEVED!!!

I've been very disappointed by the Enquirer's coverage since the Post died. Highlands, Ryle, Notre Dame, and Boone County get their share, but what about everybody else?

Since there was nothing about this game in the paper, here are the highlites:

Tibbs and Benzinger dominated the first half, scoring 15 points each (Scott led 36-32 at half). We also led 45-43 at the end of three quarters, but the Camels outscored us 24-12 in the 4th. Tibbs ended up with 19 and Benzinger had 24. Cambell County had three players who had outstanding games. Bowling had several assists (most were at critical stages of the 4th quarter), Baker had a bunch of steals, and Kitchen went for 25.

I recently heard Bruce Brown, whose title is "Director of Proactive Coaching," give a fascinating talk to both athletes as well as parents. As a teacher and coach for over 30 years in the Seattle area, he always conducted an exit interview with each of the players in his program where he would ask them to list the best and worst experience they had while playing. Both his male and female athletes would consistently say the same thing regarding the negative experience: "The ride home with dad." How many times have fathers--and sometimes mothers--ANALYZED and CRITICIZED every single possession on the long ride home?

Then, when someone in the audience asked what would be the BEST thing you can say to your athlete after a game, he recommended saying only these five words: "I LOVE watching you play."
