  1. Great game between crosstown rivals!

Hazard jump out early driving down the field taking a 7-0 lead. PCC turned over ball on next possesion Hazard returning interception to the 2. PCC made a huge defensive stand holding Hazard to FG making it 10-0 Hazard. This energized Perry and swung the momentium their way. PCC scored on an Amis run of about 45 making it 10-6 Hazard at the half. The rain set in during halftime and stayed the rest of the game. Hazard scores on an Adams run to jump out to a 16-6 lead. Amis works his magic once again scrambling for a TD cutting the Hazard lead to 2, 16-14. Around 6 min left in 4th, PCC has ball deep in Hazard territory, 4th and 15. Amis scrambles around the pocket finding a wide open WR fot a TD and a 20m-16 lead. Hazard throws interception turning ball over to PCC with around 4 min to go. PCC was able to run clock down to 28 sec. Hazard has ball with no time outs. Olinger, coming off missing the last two games, had not connected on a pass in the second half. First three plays are incomplete, leaving 11 seconds and 4th down around the Hazard 35, Olinger runs a QB draw to get out of bounds around the 50 with 1 second left. A PF was called aganist PCC moving ball to PCC 38. Olinger had all day to let his guys get to the end zone and fired the ball to a wide open Alex Hall. Hazard wins 22-20.

The biggest play of game might have been when Amis ran out of bounds with around 1:30 left stopping the clock for Hazard. If he slides and stays in bounds, the Dogs don't have that last second to connect on the Hall Mary.

Hazard never gave up and played to the last second. A great lesson they can call on as the games get tougher as we move towards the playoffs. Hazard has to get back to work and start getting healthy. This game has no bearing on ethier teams season other than bragging rights. Now is the time for both teams to concentrate on securing home field advantage by winning thier districts. Other than Adams, the offense has been very spotty. Give the Perry D some credit for that, they are much improved and makes Perry a legit contender to win some playoff games.

Freshman Zach Blanton of Hazard never left the field playing O, D, and ST, making some big plays.

PCC has a FR LB that was in on most every tackle. Robinson, I think. Very impressive FR.

Jordon Amis was awesome. When the pocket breaks down or when he is rolled out he creates, improvizes and the next you know he is off to the races. A great compeitor. The Hazard D played solid but when you play Perry it takes just 1 play. Amis and Travis have the running ability to take it to the house if you don't keep contain, even when you do keep contain Amis is slippery enough to get to paydirt.

Good luck to PCC the rest of the way.

Hazard time to lace up the boots and get back to work! Go Dawgs!

  2. Big game for Hazard as they play their first game on their new turf. The game begins at 7:30 but there will be a special ceremony and re-dedication of the field at 7 pm.

    Hazard starters out:

Kidd - out for 3 - 8 weeks, know more after surgey

Olinger - out no time table for return

    Maggard - out for year

Slone - out, visit with Dr. Ireland Friday

Campbell - out no time table for return

  3. Listened to the game on WSGS 101.1 Good win by Perry. It did rain before the game, but I don't think it did during the game.

Perry can score but their defense came up big. 1st half LCC had ball in red zone threw interception that Travis took back for a TD. In 4th PCC up 33-32 has ball in red zone on 9 yard line. LCC intercept in end zone to take possesion with less then 2 minutes. LCC moved ball to PCC 17 try FG, fumble snap. PCC win.

  4. Former Hazard TE Joey Meehan has transferred from Hazard to LCA. LCA was able to fill one of their biggest needs at the TE position, while also weakening the Hazard offense. When you are a Class A school loosing a starter with the ability of Meehan can be devastating as you usually just don't have the depth to replace that kind of talent. Congrats to LCA, they got a great player and a good kid he will make a fine addition to their team. Hazard still returns 10 other starters on offense and 8 on defense so they still have a chance to make some noise. They have some tough games on the schedule (Green Co., at Johnson Central, at LCA) that should help them be ready for the playoffs.
