I didn't see this score posted anywhere. Newport moves on to play Highlands today at 5 to see who goes to the region.

Newport 15, Bellevue 6, 36th District quarterfinal: Junior Bobby Sharp went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBI to lead the way for the Wildcats. Charlie Mullins went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBI and Shawn Roberts was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI to help Newport advance in the district tournament.

But, must admit - Bishop Brossart has the BEST "National Anthem" singer around - Todd Schafer. If you haven't gotten the pleasure in listening to him sing at a game -you have certainly missed out. He does a great job and also does the announcing with the PA system he has been given to use.

Its amazing not to see Tanner Norton or Zach Fardo mentioned in this conversation.

Jake Ollier will be attending the College of Mt. St. Joes this fall, he also has commited to play baseball (Pitch) for the college. This year he will red shirt, as he is scheduled for Tommy John surgery next week.

Jake graduated from Bishop Brossart High School. Congrats Jake and good luck with the surgery!

Second game was Brossart and Bracken. Bracken made a game of it but fell short 8 to 4

First game was Brossart and calvary brossart won with Jake Ollier on the mound. He pitched one heck of a game with 9 strikeouts

A little off track here....but I once had a fellow yell at me for a good 5 minutes while I was working in a concession stand for a local high school. What would cause this fellow to rant and rave at me? A $1.00 bottle of water being sold to him, it wasn't the price actually - he was upset because it was from WALMART.

Don't know where this short story ties in with this thread at...but i was wondering if I somehow crossed paths with the same fellow again on this forum....

Just a note also - the extra stands were welcomed and the improvements made to the wooden stands were a BIG improvement! Just a few helpful hints for Beechwood fans coming - 1.) bring extra hot chocolate or coffee in a thermos, cause both times Frankfort has ran out at half time and they serve in small cups. 2.) a flashlight for the porta potties so you can see!

And the view on the visitor side is actually much better now with the above mentioned improvements - but a few Frankfort fans park their cars behind you in the grass and sit in their cars to watch the game, and at times were upset because the visitors were blocking their view by standing.

Beechwood you will notice that Frankfort's stands will be more than 1/2 empty if they don't get some fans to the game. (Home stands are similar to Newport's stadium). I honsetly would love to see Frankfort fill their stands, what a great job to be in the Playoffs! Frankfort come out and support your team! Your football players are a very talented group of young men.

But, I believe this game will go to Beechwood.

I would have to disagree with Coach Bucket. The bleachers are unsafe and could not and should not accomodate ANY visiting team - REQUIRED to sit in them. How could Frankfort expect any visiting team - bringing over 200+ fans into their stadium to sit and STAND on the visiting side - when their bleachers on Frankforts side was at least 50% empty even with Brossart fans sitting in 1/4 of the bleacher section. Frankfort really had a poor fan showing for being a home team in playoff position. Another problem is that our cheerleaders were FORCED to move to the other side of the field to cheer, after being treated rudely on Frankforts side. The cheering side on the visiting side is unsafe also - our girls cheered on uneven concrete and were unable to do any stunts or jumps. I agree with Mustang - maybe the KHSAA should be aware of what went on Friday night at this stadium. I also hope that when Bellevue rolls in next Friday night that they are treated with more respect than Brossart was. Hopefully Frankfort administration learns from the mistakes that they made with hosting Brossart and works to resolve this from happening in the future with other teams.

The football game last Friday night against Bethel Tate was dedicated to this Brossart student and athlete. As I understand, the young man took his life last week. Please keep all those close to him in your thoughts and prayers. School was cancelled today so that the students and faculty could attend the funeral.

Brossart just released today from school due to Flu for rest of week.

Last night during the game a player for Conner got injured and had to be sent to the hospital.

I was just checking to see if anyone might now the status of the player today? She had banged her head on the court twice and had to be backboarded out of the gym.

Certainly hoping that she is doing okay today.?

Pike will be the starting qb...Has the size and all the tools to be a very good one..

Pike is talented and has the ability to be a very good quarterback, but Wilson is too much of a talented athlete, leader, and positon fitting in the spread to change. Also the speed of play at the varsity and freshman levels differ greatly. Look for Wilson to be the starter opening night come next year.

I wasn't impressed with Dixie's QB at all when they played CCH early in the year. Not sure which guy it was though..

Against CCH, Wilson was 16 of 21 for 157 passing yards and a touchdown with also 70 yards on the ground and a touchdown in a pretty solid effort during an exciting game.

Wilson came into the game replacing Dematteo(sophmore) who was hurt early in the first quarter. Wilson's performance is probably overlooked because Klei stole the show with over 200 yards on the ground 5 touchdowns.

So Ryan will definitely be the QB? I thought that they were still leaning towards the Sophomore. What about Pike?

Ryan ended the year very well and has learned a lot, he made good decisions and protected the ball. I highly doubt that with the experience he got this year and how well the backfield played that you would see a change. And i would say look for Pike to make some much need contributions to the defense.

Dixie's QB Ryan Wilson(5'11 160) and RB Corey Klei(5'6 190) are going to lead an explosive offense for the Colonels next year. Both put up very good numbers this year. It should be interesting to see what they do next year being a lethal combination in the spread.

There are 3 former Scott players coaching at Brossart with the former Scott coaches.

If this answer is in reply to my question about the boys being on the field from Scott while the Brossart players were running -

The group of boys I saw were no older than high school age and certainly not coaches.

Did notice something odd at one of the past games against Walton Verona (Brossart's Homecoming) - while the boys were running after that game.... The Brossart coach appeared to have a group of boys from Scott standing in the center of the field watching them run....seemed quite weird at the time - bet the Brossart players were loving that. Or did i miss something?

Mustangs Seek Football Coaches; No Activity Til Notified

Players will be notified of updates. Please do not report til practice until notified.

Bishop Brossart will field a varsity and jv football team this fall. Everyone will be onctacted and updated here when the next activity will be.

**I am not a football parent, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that stopping practices "until notifed" in the middle of June is not a good idea. I had heard that the coaches and the returning players had been attending weight lifting three days a week for several months already. This program needs all the support it can get and stopping it "until notified" is not supporting the kids. The first game (as the website says) is August 29 with a scrimmage Aug 22nd... With it being so late in the season, finding a "quality coach replacement" might be extremely difficult.

Shame on Brossart.

I noticed that the Olliers were supportive of a few other programs at Brossart, saw them at a few basketball games home and away, and baseball games this past year - always wearing their Brossart greens.
