  1. Somerset's 8th grade team is coming off an undefeated season in which they won their conference and beat Corbin's previously undefeated bunch twice. They should have at least 3 players that see time this year. Trey Slaughter a FB/LB will probably start, Storm Wilson a WR/S will see lots of reps on offense and C/DT Taylor Speaks could see signifigant minutes on the line. All 3 could be special players if they work hard and stay injury free. There's 3-4 more that could see action on special teams. The Jumpers will be young this season.

  2. I do agree that getting the Ball to Tyler Bourne down low is by far the best option for the Jumpers to be successful and for the most part they have done pretty well at that. But If you are referring to Price as being a selfish player or anything of that sort then you dont watch many of Somersets games.. Having to play the point this year has limited his scoring oppurtunities greatly, and I do believe he drove the lane and kicked it out to an open man several times tonight for a three.. yes he shot several times tonight but they werent bad shots, they were going in werent they? The game before, against Lincoln County, he only took 5 or 6 shots for the entire game..

Now, the Jumpers arent in that bad of shape.. There last 3 losses have been to the regions top 3 teams, and 2 of them on the road.. They still have a shot at this thing..

The Jumpers are done. They have completely folded again after the All A Tourney. They are now 1-4 with that lone win coming against Monticello. Yes 3 of those games have been to the top 3 teams in the 12th Region but they've lost all those games by at least 13 points. If you want to be considered a regional contender you have to beat some of the other contenders. Somerset's season ended with their loss to Murray--Cumberland will beat them at the Patch on Friday and Rockcastle will win by double digits at home leaving the Jumpers at 1-6 since Richmond. I hope I'm wrong about this but it doesn't look good.

  3. This should not come as any suprise. In the Shawn Thacker era at Somerset his teams have traditionally been bad after their elimination from the All A Classic. Perhaps too much emphasis is put on that tourney. I think the majority of Somerset fans would prefer to make a trip to Rupp than to win the All A Championship. Take a look at these numbers and see what you think.

More importantly only 3 12th Region appearances with a record of 0-3. Even the year that SHS went 5-2 post All A they were upset in the first round of the district. Something has to give. Nice win for Wayne County who should move into 3rd place in everyone's 12 Region Rankings--Somerset will be fortunate to win more than 1 game this season (Monticello and that one is on the road)--Rockcastle will probably be favored at home in the district.

  4. ^ Not to ruin the moment, but didn't Patrick S star in Red Dawn as one of his early films...? He and Jen Gray were in that before the dancing got dirty.

Yeah, he did but it came out in 1984 after the other ones that I mentioned. He and Jennifer Grey were in that one together.

  5. Uncommon Valor - which also featured the film debut of a young Patrick Swayze who went onto star in Ghost with _______?

Demi Moore, who appeared in ______________________ with Rich Little.

Uncommon Valor was actually Patrick Swayze's 4th movie role--while he previously appeared in Staying Alive as an uncredited dancer and in The Outsiders as Darry, his first role was in Skatetown, USA as Ace Johnson.

  6. That doesn't hold much water, because everyone has had their way with the Heat this year...:p

Here is my reasons for choosing Wade over Lebron. I would want someone on my team who can make shots, get to the rim, make free throws, and is clutch at the end of games. Neither Lebron or Wade are good at making 3 pointers, however Wade can just about pull up and make that mid-range jumper all day long, while Lebron is very streaky with his jumper. Also both Lebron and Wade are 2 of the top 5 guys in the league at finishing around the basket. The difference though is when Wade gets fouled while going to the rim, he knows how to knock down his free throws unlike Lebron. Finally even since Wade's rookie year, he has shown he is very clutch, and you can give him the ball at the end of the game and he could go win it for you in the season and the playoffs. While Lebron for most of his career has shown he is not clutch at all with the exception of a small amount of games. Lebron is great, however I would not choose him over Wade YET, and the key word is yet...

LeBron James is shooting 72% from the line and Wade is shooting 75%--not exactly a big difference. The difference is made up on field goal shooting where James is shooting 48%, 29% on 3s to Wade's 45% and 14% on 3s. James also averages more assists, rebounds, steals and blocks while averaging less turnovers. He's better than Wade across the board.

  7. The response is to the accusation that UofL doesn't control their players on campus i.e. D.C. obeying curfew.

But, by all means, make it mean something different for your own peace of mind.

Yes, but you're response was that UL can contro their coaches. However, the actions of Williard, Masiello and McCarty would suggest otherwise. Wouldn't you think?

  8. Yeah man, Purdue, Wisconsin, Penn State, Illinois, and Michigan is weak. I know they may not be Florida's or LSU's but come on man, all of those teams are bowling. The Big 10 has 11 teams in it, 9 of those teams posted 7 wins or better, 1 had a 6-6 record, and the worst was Minnesota at 1-11. That's a pretty tough conference top to bottom. Not saying it's better than the SEC, but it's a whole lot tougher than some may think..

The Big 10's record this season was directly a product of almost all of the teams playing OOC patsies and in conference a lot of the teams were even. Don't try to pretend that this was a brutal conference--just even. Here are the Big 10's OOC wins against 2007 Bowl Teams:

Illinois and Indiana defeated Ball State

    Michigan State defeated Bowling Green

Northwestern defeated Nevada (who finished 6-7)

    and Purdue defeated Central Michigan

That's all folks, the Big 10 defeated ONE team in OOC competion outside of the MAC that is bowling this season. That team is Nevada that lost to New Mexico (NM played without their leading rusher) and finished 6-7. The Big 10 was WEAK, they were mostly even but they were WEAK. Give me one good reason that the Big 10 wasn't a fraud this season.....

  9. And Ohio State played a weak schedule

Louisville is better than anyone OSU played out of conference this season. You can't bring USC into the argument because you're bashing UK for next season's schedule compared to THIS season's OSU schedule. UL by themselves makes UK's better. NEXT season I'd give the nod to OSU by virtue of the USC game.

  10. Washington was one of them, who when this schedule was made was in a good run. We have played good teams in the past and we will continue to do that. Playing USC for the next two years is saying a lot compared to Kentucky's OOC schedule. And don't throw in the SEC talk either, because OOC games have nothing to do with the SEC..

Washington's Record the past 6 seasons:

    2007 4-9

    2006 5-7

    2005 2-9

    2004 1-10

    2003 6-6

    2002 7-6

Total 25-47 And your point was?

  11. 25.4 points per game isn't good? That's 4th best in the NBA. 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists isn't to bad either. James does average more points, but James doesn't have a player like Allen Iverson, or Kenyon Martin on his team. Melo would be putting up about the same numbers if he was a Cavalier.

If it is a case of LeBron not having as good a team around him and getting so many more shots and scoring opportunities how do you account for the fact that LeBron manages to double Anthony's assists? 7.5 compared to 3.7, he also averages more steals and has twice as many blocked shots. The blocks and steals have nothing to do with his supporting cast and if he can manage to distribute the ball well enough to coax that many assists out of the bunch of stiffs that he plays with that makes it even more impressive. And before you try and make a case that he gets the assists because he plays more as a point guard remember that he also averages more Rebounds and the aforementioned blocks than Anthony. LeBron James is a MUCH better all-around player than Carmelo Anthony.

Anybody who watched the national team this summer would understand he belongs on any team like this.

    Starting 5

    Steve Nash

    Kobe Bryant

    LeBron James

    Tim Duncan

    Dwight Howard

    Backups

    Kevin Garnett

    Yao Ming

    Dwayne Wade

    Chris Paul

    Michael Redd

Of course anyone who watched the National Team this summer would know that Jason Kidd belongs on the team--the National Team is undefeated with him at point guard.
