  1. Our Hazard buddy is back from last year. mean, glad you guys are back just as you predicted. Do you have another prediction for us? The last 2 quotes were made after the 2010 title but this is the only w

ay I know of to bring them forward from another thread

No,no prediction, just glad to get another chance to play Mayfield for the state finals.Hope both teams play their best and injury free.
  2. Hey TP...I really appreciate the hospitality from both your family and westsider. I had hoped you were a good guy and not the person you sometimes tend to be on here. I would love to have met Snake, but by then his legs were already dangling from #9's butt ;)

You guys were every bit as advertised and it was certainly a classic football game that I will remember forever. The woulda/coulda/shoulda/what if's always come up after intense contests and are a total waste of time because the outcome never changes. I'm just glad it ended with the outcome of the game still hanging and hopefully proved we were also as advertised.

I would like for you to extend my Son's deepest apologies to the senior that was carted off the field. He felt/heard his ankle break and it is still bothering him really bad. Especially after reading he was a senior. My boy plays hard, but he's still a kid and feels just terrible. Also, I knew nothing about Coach Morris, but after he and the staff took my Son to the side to talk with him after the game...I will forever be grateful for what he did and said to my boy.

Lastly, you and Snake just need to just stop sandbagging about the Hazzard game. Same stuff different game! No way will their defense be as strong/athletic/fast off the line or secondary as you just faced. I will also guarantee their running game can't compete...the best match-up for a state championship game just took place :)

    Good luck, Man!

final game is this weekend, you guys can only come in third.
  3. Bottom line for me is this. Every player mentioned in the AP list earned their recognition or they would not be listed. So congratulations to them on being recognized as one of the top players in the state.

However, there are quite a few players that were not recognized who everyone in this state with a thimble's worth of knowledge of high school football knows should have been recognized. It is a shame that a player who works so hard and clearly achieves at the highest level in the state is not recognized. I feel for those young men. For that reason, the AP should be ashamed of the process they use to select this team and if they can't do a better job, then it is better IMO to not name a team at all. Not having obvious all state players on your team dishonors both the players named and those who should have been named.

Who do you think should be on,and who would you take off?

  4. The simple facts of the AP All State are: Not many of the AP members watch much football outside of their local team, nor do they keep up with state wide players. Some of the AP affiliates don't even vote. And many of them only vote for their local players. The AP version is always the worst in my opinion.

But, the good news is: the All Bluegrasspreps Team will be out soon.

When is that going to be?

  5. If you think it's a joke , thats your opinion and you are entitled to it . I don't know if you have kids or not , but if you do , maybe someday they will win an award , and somebody can say that is a joke also !! It's amazing that everytime there are awards given out , somebody like you has to rain on their parade . It's part of life , get used to it .These high school kids and their families read BGP , and I'm sure they don't appreciate your post ! :madman:

Congrats to all the players selected , a great honor and well deserved !!!

Congrats to all players, selected or not,it's an pleasure to watch all you guys play every week.

  6. Crittenden County was the toughest opponet Mayfield faced in 2010, I will give them that, followed by Beechwood and LHC. LHC and Hazard are so contraqsting in style I am unsure what to think of that matchup. I was unimpressed with the line play of Hazard, they were huge but that is about it.

I think Mayfield got beat the same way last year by LCA,And i pretty sure Hazard would beaten them too.

You can run your mouth when you win,Hazard will be back next year,I hope Mayfield will two.

  8. Just got in from BG... man, it was good to be on the winning side of the scoreboard! I feel for the folks from Hazard because we had the same thing done to us last year. As for the game, all I can say is WOW! Everyone contributed to this win. I'm very proud of a defensive unit that stymied a very potent offense...Number 8 feels great.

The folks in Hazard are ok, just had more turnovers than they could afford against agood team like Mayfield .Mayfield had the better team this time.Hazard team has nothing to fill bad about, maybe they can get back and make a better showing next year.

  9. All season long the Eagles were seen as heavy underdogs should this matchup occur; for all of the reasons listed above. Now that they have to play without their SEC-calibre lineman, I would say those odds are much longer.

The pressure is now off of LCA. They can play knowing that they have nothing to lose, & can "leave it out on the field".

Any pressure that exists will be on Hazard. Should they lose, it will be one of the biggest choke jobs in the last several years, and quite an embarrassment.

Hazard had a really good season up to now,win or lose that won't change. They played every game the same way,do the best you can and leave it on the field.Hazard been lucky enough to win all their games. If Hazard don't win it'll be because the other team was better, that can happen on any given friday you play.If West plays or not,Hazard will play the best they can,and if they win or lose, choking won't have anything to do with it.I'm pretty sure that Zach West is not the only reason LCA won as many games as they have, unless maybe he has every tackle, pass break up, and touchdown.I'm sure the other players helped win when he was tossed out of the last game.

  10. There was no fight.... First there was a flag thrown on Fairview player and penalty was marked off. LCA was getting ready to snap it and ref from Fairview sideline runs in and decides to add his flag and include West in the mix. Then he huddles with the white hat and both kids are tossed. I think it is funny that whatever the Fairview player originally did didn't warrant an ejection and the penalty was marked off, but when the one ref decided to involve West both players were ejected. Being as the ref crew was from Pikeville and Hazard it sure seems fishy. For the kids sake I hope he can play. From what I have heard neither player should have been ejected. It wasn't a fight but rather a scuffle after whistle with playoff emotions running high.

play by the rules, a ejection is a ejection.he's supposed to be out.

  11. So if you want to use that as the logic, consider what you're inferring:

According to Riherds, Bell County Beat:

    Sep 17, 10 Johnson Central home 42 - 18 (W)

    Oct 29, 10 Harlan County away 35 - 0 (W)

We saw last night that Highlands is 7 points better than JC. So using Bell Co. as the common demoinator, Bell beat JC by 24 points and HC by 35.

So using your suggested theory, JC is 11 points better than HC.

So you could say that Highlands should be 18 points better :D

In all seriousness, I'm not sure it would be safe to predict such a blowout. Larkey has been there, done that with HHS.

So there's no way Highlands is better than Bell Co. After friday they won't be better than HC.
