I'll post this in response to HCT's assertion that everyone was looking forward to Raceland falling. That's pure and simple hogwash. I saw (and stood with) Ashland, Russell, Greenup, Fairview, and Boyd Co. fans that were all rooting for the Rams. All of them! I'm truly sorry that the Rams lost, and I think it's terrific that most have given the props to the victors. But with regards to everyone "wanting to tear Raceland down", couldn't be farther from the truth. Perhaps you may want to put away the broad brush.
Once again, congrats to Coach V and staff on a spectacular season and to LCA and good luck in the next rd.
I agree 100% spindoc, i would have loved to have seen the Ram's won it all......

Still a great season for the Ram's,hold your head's high.........:thumb:

Thanks for you vote of confidence, and I am glad to have you cheering for the Rams, but dang 42-28? I hope you are right.
I know they know what there up against next week and there going to come out a little more focused than usual and play mistake free football. :thumb:

Better look out LCA, there is a big Orange train rolling your way out of control and running over anything in it's way. Pour some more fuel to her boy's and pick up a lil more steam. Ram's 42-28

Wildcat Willy, I believe you and I commented before the Belfry-Johnson Central game that if Belfry could beat Johnson Central, then Russell might as well not board the bus for the ride to Belfry. As the game approached, I tried to fool myself that Russell might have a shot. Reality hit tonight, though. They shouldn't have boarded the bus after all. Belfry is in another league from Russell. Russell rose up and matched Belfry in 2005 and 2006, but now it appears it's back to business as usual.
Exactly Ryan, predicted earlier that the Pirate's will leave Louisville with the big trophy, really dont think they can be stopped unless they stop there self.:thumb:

Way to keep rolling along Ram's, just another step to where you want to be. But your not there yet,get ready for another war and keep moving ahead,it is getting closer each step.
-
Congratulations to Belfry, dont think they will be denied this year, bring the trophy back to E. Ky.

RAM'S...............FINISH WHAT YOU HAVE STARTED ! Dont be content with your season, has been a great one but you will have a empty feeling if you dont stay focused and TCB. You are the better team, show them why you are the #1 team in the state of KY. :thumb:

Very true Doc,other Russell teams have went to Belfry and came back with a W. Just have to play hard and leave it all on the field, look for there to be some turnover's with the weather condition's for tonight.Anything can happen, just have to want it more!:thumb:
-
Keep climbing that ladder Ram's, you have to get to the top one step at a time. Miss a step and you fall all the way down, that big trophy is sitting at the top waiting for you! GO GET IT!
-
Look's like there is not going to be much talk about this game, just line them up and go after it........Get focused Devil's,you do have your work cut out for you, just have to want it a little more than they do!

I think balence is the key for Raceland. Sure Raceland has two outstanding running backs, that can accumulate a lot of yards on the ground, but you have to realize that most of what allowed that to happen is the pass. With two great RB's most teams would just line up in the wishbone, power I, or Wing T and run the ball at you, particularly with a very solid OL in front of the RB's. But, when you do that, you allow the opponent to stack the box and have a better chance of stopping, or at least slowing down, the RB's ability to gain yardage.
Racand is somewhere around 60/40 run/pass. And, that stops the defenses from stacking the box and respect the pass. Defenses have to leave the corners out, the safety back, and most times one or two LB's walked out. That opens the running lanes so Denton and Carver can attack the defense.
Let's not forget what got us to this point. We have two backs with over a thousand yards apiece, Denton and Carver. But, we also have a QB, Boyles, with over a thousand yards passing, and a WR with over 600 yards receiving (Selvage), and another one which would have over 500 yards receiving if he was not hurt most of the season, Tolliver.
Raceland's offense is diverse. It can run, and run well. It can pass, and pass more then efficiently. This spreads the defense and the offense can take what the defense gives it, behind a solid OL that can give Boyles time to pass, or can open running lanes for Denton and Carver. And, after the ball is in the air, it has receivers that can go and get the ball, and have yards after the catch.
A balanced and efficient offense is what got Raceland where it is, and that is what it will take to advance further into the playoffs.
That is what i have been saying all along about Russell's offense, not changing thesubject off Raceland, but Russell's offense is just way to predictible.Love the diversity of the Raceland offense, very unpredictible......ROLL ON RAM'S !:thumb:

Focus Ram's,never let yourself be caught looking ahead. Keep playing the quality football you guy's have been all year and the sky is the limit for you!
-
Hopefully the Devil's are getting healthy and getting focused on the task at hand, they have a very tough task in front of them.Looking for the Devil's to open the offense up some and try to put some point's on the scoreboard.Especially hope there working on there tackling this week, has to improve or they have no chance.Respect has to be earned, not given to you....GO EARN IT DEVIL'S!

At Belfry ........ Belfry ! ! ! Since they have turf ,now they can't wet the field.
If not mistaken,Russell shut out Belfry not to long ago at Belfry, and was on the turf!

Cant imagine a very long line of applicant's, i think most people know what there up against and dont want the headache, some coaches like a challenge but i think this is a lot more than a challenge. Having graduated from GCHS, i would like to see them turn it around.
-
Ram's will roll on with a easy victory in this one, about 45-7 is my prediction.A good tune up for what is ahead, after this week thing's start getting a whole lot more diffucult.........
-
Think Belfry is to strong for the Devil's,guessing about 42-14 Belfry.........Hope it is different but dont think so.
-
Russell started subbing in second quarter, then put starters back in a couple of series in second half before subbing again.....
-
Congratulations to the Ram's,keep rolling on to that championship......Pretty good weekend for the local teams!
-
Devils looked pretty good tonight,a lot of penalties that cannot happen next week.Need to play mistake free and with a lot of emotion to stay with Belfry.
-
Real upset. Hey, I will not be able to make to the game tonight. I'm hoping that we will be playing next week.
I will be there!, I HOPE........
Anyway, WILDCAT WILLY, you said that the game is on delay WLGC. I'm in Cincinnati. Can we get that via the web? Does anyone know?
Dodgerbean
I have went online and listened to the Russell games before,google...WLGC and should bring it up for you........
